Good evening all please a cousin of mine needs my help from London. She attended her university there about 10 years ago and started working. But recently when they supposed to issue her papers they did not so she went to court and won the case but her lawyer was a swindler. She was given the option for getting her resident paper or getting her damages fees she opted for her papers but the lawyer insisted in both. The lawyer submitted his own account number requesting the government to pay him directly instead of my cousin. After so many arguments with the lawyer we advised her to allow the lawyer submit his account number hence what she needed is her papers. Now she was expecting a letter deliverying her resident papers but got a letter of denial. Now she is not aware if the lawyer has received alert and refused to inform her. She informed the lawyer of the letter of denial but all the lawyer could do was to request 1k pounds to reappeal the government decision. Please body with contact of human rights lawyers in London that can assist her? Useful advice please.

First port of call......

- Make a complaint to the solicitors firm, using their internal complaint process

- Next phase - Making a complain to the legal ombudsman

- Solicitors Regulation Authority [SRA]

This are your route for redress........

If she feels the solicitor messed up her case professionally, she could seek financial compensation through the Lawyers professional insurance policy.......

Good day all, I have read through so many experiences but haven't found anyone similar to mine. I will sincerely appreciate all the help and advice I can get here.

My husband just got his ILR, we have been married for three years with two kids together both under 18 (one American and the other Nigerian). I am Nigerian and live in Nigeria, I have visited the UK several times (more than 5 times in 5 years), America, Dubai and Schengen countries (Paris, Germany, Spain, Malta etc) My sister is british from marriage. I am currently working, I am an IT professional with an Msc from a British University.

Please what do I really need to look out for as this is my first time applying for settlement visa. My husband is self employed and earns above 30k pounds annually, I earn about 200k in Nigeria. e have more than enough pictures of wedding, family pictures with our daughter, travel itineraries, conversation (but not so sufficient as mostly its done via whatsapp) few emails when we just met, bank transfers too.

Please note: I have always visited the UK on my visit visa I got through my sister;
I always mention visiting my sister at POE because of the visa I had and was using was based on visiting her; I have 6mons,2yrs, 2yrs again cos I could'nt afford the 5yrs at the time. My daughter uses her US passport for entry so I never really had to change details on my previous visa application.

Will this matter? I did not include my husband as my purpose of visit.

For him to get the ILR, I presume he was previously married...... Not unless he got it via another means.......

Okay thank you very much sir. Please are there any docs you think I need to place more emphasis? I was also wondering if I should apply for my daughter with her Nigeria or US passport?

Do the kids have an edge in all of this? Please is there anything in particular they look out for?

Congrats on y hubby ILR. For the requirements for settlement visa for you and your kids. As u mentioned u av all the details requirements that meet up to the relationship. The whatsapp conversation, pictures, travel internaries etc. Also include y pictures for court marriage and the certificate.
For the financial accept your hubby meet the requirement too for u all. just let him meet his Accountant to prepare the financial year account for him both the paid and unpaid taxes.
He will get advice to apply for self employed either through category F or Category G. He will get the advice and know the route to follow under self employed. He need all his company documents and 12months statement of account under self employed.
Accomodation: your hubby must av a spacious accommodation to contain u all. If he has a house on mogage, let him get all documents, if he is renting talk to landlord to say that the house is ok for four.

Your sister was the person u got your visa through. It does not matter if u did not include y hubby on purpose of visit. It is u that decides who to visit and whom not to visit. It is your life. But it can only matter if you got married bf u applied for the visa and hubby was in the uk. when u applied for your last visa application did you applied as married? If yes, when u were asked is y spouse living with u? What did u put? If u said no, then what address did u put? If u put u were married and never told then the correct address your hubby was living, it becomes a problem with settlement that u gave false information your hubby where about. Assuming in the application form u put that hubby was living with u and in the same address whereas hubby was in the UK. It becomes false information.

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I am very grateful. I will discuss this with my husband and see how we can settle things. Even if I have to travel one more time and include him at the border, I will do that since I still have a valid visa to travel.

Iwe will try to correct things just to be safe.

Thanks again. God bless you

hi.. please how did you send ur docs to sheffield tho?

Any need for binders? folders?

or i just put them together with a clip?

Thanks for anticipated response...

profemebee:
I got an email about being registered on their TLS website and told to even change password via a link, which isnt even working...

I hear everyone sends via Royal Mail Special Delivery.. the docs will definitely be more than 2kg.. i doubt anyone's docs here will be less than 2kg tbh.. Are you saying Royal Mail doesn't send packages above 2kg?

For the common wealth question, i think i will go for the cover letter route..

Thanks for the support.

hi.. please how did you send ur supporting docs to sheffield tho?

Any need for binders? folders?

or i just put them together with a clip?

Thanks for anticipated response...

fridpalor:

Congrats on the Biometrics, and best wishes smiley

No the link provided in the email did not work for me either.

They registered the profile for you? Hmmm... I didn't get any profile registered... was this on their TLS website?

You can send documents to your partner in UK via DHL or any other means. However it is advised that your partner sends all the supporting documents to UKVI sheffield via Royal Mail Special Delivery (however if the docs weigh over 2kg, it then gets sent via ParcelForce. Unfortunately ParcelForce does not deliver to P.O.Box addresses (as they require a signature), so this can add further delays). Alternatively using DHL may be preferred, but may be more expensive.

I don't think not identifying South Africa as a commonwealth nation is a critical mistake. Did you state that you had visited there under "HAVE YOU EVER TRAVELLED OUTSIDE YOUR COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE, EXCLUDING THE UK, IN THE LAST 10 YEARS?" section. If yes, I think that should be sufficient; however to have full peace of mind, you may wish to send a letter or add it in additional info in Appendix 2 4VAF clarifying the oversight.

Others can please advise too.

Sir Lex.. Oga Justwise and my able wise ones

Please i have a question.. want to send my docs to Sheffield on thursday, the 30th of May, 2019...

However, i need to confirm something..

My wife (sponsor) used her Nigerian passport to fly down here in oct2018 for our wedding so her green passport has the entry/exit stamp.

Her British passport has other entry/exit stamps of trips we've been to..

Is it okay to show the entry/exit stamp on her Nigerian passport as part of supporting docs to show she came to naija for the wedding?

NOTE: The online form already asked if she has dual nationality, and i replied Yes to that..

Thanks for anticipated response

Lexusgs430:

Old passports not required.

Print form when you have fully completed all process

Refusal letter not required, just honestly answer questions in appropriate section

Your passport would be collected during biometric interview..... Also have the biometric copy of sponsors passport.
