That is in player development, not team selection. Rohr did not invite Iheanacho for development. It was clear he did not have plans for Iheanacho.
see as you dey twist narrative, if it was Rodgers you'll say yes it's OK let him warm bench well now it's Rhor you are complaining

Onuachu for iheanacho seems ideal but I believe Rohr's reason to pick onuachu is because of his physique which may be handy in some matches in the competition. But the ajayi I watched several times in the colors of Rotherdam is not better than Awaziem. Rotherdam is a poor team and if Awaziem happens to find himself in a team such as Rotherham he will be a constant hit.

You take out Ajayi and add an Awaziem with lack of aerial prowess Rotherdam would have been relegated by January

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has inferred that the decision to axe Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho and Rotherham United defender Semi Ajayi was taken before yesterday's friendly before Zimbabwe.

The German revealed that he had been monitoring the performance of Nigeria players before they stepped foot in Asaba, adding that it was difficult for him to rate the players because of the rainy conditions in the friendly vs Zimbabwe.

In truth, Rohr already made it clear from the word go that he was dropping a striker and a midfielder, and Iheanacho and Ajayi fall into the category of players.

''You cannot judge from one game in these conditions. We already have our opinion before the match because we observed them throughout the season and we saw what they did and also all week in the training sessions,'' Rohr said post-match.

''We had seven training sessions to see the fitness, confidence of the players. It's not this match alone that will give us a decision on the two players we have to drop.''

As many as seven players classed as offensive players were given a run-out against Zimbabwe, but Rohr has stressed that won't be the case at the Africa Cup of Nations.

''You see that we played with seven strikers, all the strikers who deserve to play. We started with 3 strikers, the others came in.

''Normally in a match you cannot bring so many strikers. We played with a lot of offensive players.

''We have Chukwueze, Kalu, Henry, Osimhen, Paul, Simon also. The choice of dropping two players is really difficult for me,'' the former Bayern Munich defender concluded.

You see, dey knack all the Nollywood and BBnaija Oloshos.

No wonder he couldn't test the Manchester City goal keeper despite the good ball Chudhury* presented to him on a platter.

If he had scored that goal on that faithful night, it would help revived his dwindling career.

The only set of people who are complaining about Iheanacho being dropped are those who are being blinded by sentiments.. Iheanacho shouldn't have made the 25 man list in the first place, all things considered.... its funny that a few years ago, this same guy was nominated for the golden boy award.. now he has regressed so badly..

If he is really serious he would take the first flight back to England tomorrow in preparation for the pre season.... All this excuse of him being a back up striker to Vardy is already stale... He was a backup striker during his time at city and he delivered.. a back up striker that played 30 league games with one goal is not a serious backup striker at all..
Either he leaves on loan or work his socks off in pre season...

As for Ajayi,it was unfortunate that he missed out.. his versatility and goalscoring ability would have been needed at the AFCON... I would have dropped Shehu for him if I were Rohr.. Shehu has long over lived his usefulness at the RB position..

Overall, it's a good list...we can only hope that Rohr doesn't mess it up by deploying the wrong formation and tactic like he did at the world cup...

This is not a season development programme. This was a coach doing his selections. No need inviting Nacho if he was not going to give him a shot.

Finito.

Bro Nacho no do well this past season to warrant a place, but so was Ighalo prior to the world cup. Kellycute aint entirely wrong. When Ighalo was down, he wasn't disposed this harshly, so why treat one like a rag and another like a givenchy? Rohr's utterances and the poor way he's handled this Nacho's ordeal makes me question his man management abilities. That said, the team comes first, if the selected players are the best, they have my nod. As much as I dont like Ighalo, he has my support, since he got selected, and I hope he delivers when called upon, not bkus I'm a fan of his style, but, bkus I'm a fan of the Eagles.

It shows that you have no idea what Rodgers is about. From his time at Swansea, he did not bend his style of play and has built a cult following to his philosophy. He does not play any other way but creative, offensive an possessively.

Don't worry, when they start losing and his ass is at stake that's when you will know what am talking about.

Shakespeare wanted to play attractive possession football but was fired cos of it, puel tried it in the first season but reverted back to default mode, let's watch and see what Rodgers will do.

Personally kelechi problem is not playing at all, he needs regular football to boost his confidence and be happy, and I don't think he can get it with Vardy there.

But big question is Awaziem deserve the spot than Ajayi? based on their performance this season
Same Awaziem that couldn't make Porto B starting election.
