Dictionary.com Plans To Update The Definition Of 'black' After Branded Racist by ExAngel007(f): 5:41pm On Jun 10, 2019
Online word site, Dictionary.com has revealed its
plans to update their definition of 'black' after
being branded racist by a young black lady.

21-year-old Nyshayla Barnes , an artist from New
Jersey, took to Twitter to express her discomfort
at the words associated with the term.

Sharing a screengrab of the synonyms alongside
'black', she revealed how words including 'dark,
dingy, depressing, devilish and sinful' were listed
among others.

Reacting on her page, Nyshayla wrote: 'There are
offensive words in the dictionary associated with
the definition of 'Black'. It is vital that we have
more positive meanings for this word because
how we define words shapes our perception of
them'.

And further explaining her point, she added: 'We
are not taking offense to the word 'Black'. That is
our identity. We have a problem with the other
words that are associated with Black that don't
need to be associated with it at all'.

'Rather than making words, such as 'depressing',
'threatening' and 'foreboding' synonymous to
'Black', we should instead use words that do not
insinuate a biased undertone to a word that is
commonly used to describe people of Black race
and culture.'

Replying to the thread, Dictionary.com revealed
their plans to update the definition.

They tweeted: 'We agree! We are making some
updates and revisions that will be rolled out later
this year.' ( https://mobile.twitter.com/Dictionarycom/status/1136331285134270467?p=v )

Political correctness gone rogue again. They're confusing "black" as a colour with "black" as a racial classification.

Great,

how did black ever become all that, while white represents peace and quiet, blue represents calm, red represents vibrant..

This may not be racist to blacks as humans, this is racist to black as a colour. Which has different meanings to different people who categorize people according to racial colors.

Until we blacks stop stereotyping ourselves in the name of boldness and speaking out, we won't make headway. Black is synonymous with dark. And you can extend that to light and darkness. But why drag the black race into the word 'black'

The other day CNN, interviewing lil Wayne tried to drag him into the white racism talk, but he boldly told them he has never experienced racism his whole life.

When he attempted killing himself, the black cops that came to the house were search for drug, it was a white man that carried him on his shoulder and then drove him to the hospital. Else he would have died that day.

My problem with these whole racial discrimination awareness is that, you're teaching the black kid that the white man is superior to him that's why he discriminates against him.

By now we ought to have outgrown this bullshit. If a white man pushes you, push him black. The white is so discriminatory, yet the voted a black president twice even though blacks make up less than 15% of the population.

We have to focus on teaching our children how to co-relate with the white, and not how to hate them and run away from them.

By the English language alone, the British has shown just how much they hate you as an African. Note that those synonyms and by-words only appear in European languages.

If you check the meaning of BLACK in Chinese or Japanese language, BLACK was simply defined as ''the color black'' nothing more.

The English language is part and parcel of our enslavement, I observed this a long time ago. Its good someone else is saying it.
