You started good and messed up with the bolded. The girls have no information at all. I can bet my last cent that most of these girls are not playing for the passion but for their wellbeing in their clubs hence naiveté. The team needs injection of skilled and hungry young girls from U17 and U-20.

Abeg which "skilled, hungery girls" from under 20 or under 17 can compete at this level in Nigeria. Please expound i am confused.

Yes I know she was converted to a CB by Dedevbo but that touch and pass was uh la la grin Okobi in 2015 level. I think there is more about Chidinma to be discovered. She has Oshoala level athleticism.
can she play MF.? Something is missing in that MF.

I don't know but the way she drives forward coupled with her passing ability could make her a good candidate. Plus she has shown she can adapt to new positions so why not?

I think Okobi has been the weakest link so far but there is seemingly nobody to push her.

Before the tournament started, I stated that Okobi has been a weak link in the team. If we can draft Ajibade to her position, we wont recognise this team again.

I said the same thing but I don't think Ajibade is the answer. We need somebody who can hold on to the ball and take on defenders. This is what Okobi is lacking and I don't see anyone that can naturally do that in this team.

Watching the France-Norway game and I gotta say the quality of play is insanely high (for women football, that is). By and large we are in the same group with two teams that are favorite for the trophy. No shame in finishing third.

I tell u real end to end stuff. France will definitely have to work for this 3 points or even 1

Norway is still in the game due to their solid defense, the reason I said after the game with Nigeria that they have arguably the best back line in the tournament, they are looking to counter France.

Now for Nigeria we will need to be extremely disciplined in our defense against this French team but counter wise, the coach should play, Okeke(usual position) Kanu and Oshoala upfront because of their speed, pace and athleticism. We have the personnel to seriously do damage to them via counter attack, we will just also need to buff up the defence part of the midfield, a 5-3-1-1 system might be deplored.

France 1-0 up. This is good for us. I dont think Korea can score against Norway though. We are in a tough group and doing OK so far.

1-1 after a bizarre own goal. That girl probably thought she was on the other side.

Renard... Lol. But is a draw good for Nigeria or not ? It goes both ways, France will now not rest their starters against us.

Oh good, France is up again.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 9:53pm On Jun 12, 2019
France wins. Good results for us.

As it stands, if Korea beat Norway, we may finish 2nd. Otherwise, we only need a draw against France to qualify. Surely its not too much to ask.

France isn't as good as people make them actually. If we remain solid we can beat them.

D win overshadowed our performance

Bro..we were poor against d Koreans,we couldn't get d basics still, and if we play like dt against d French team dt is more coordinated, dey might punish us

Remember,Lyon who won d champions league often forms d bulk of d team

The only way the Super Falcons can get a draw on Monday is if the French take it easy on us.

After all, France only needs a draw to win the group; and they would be mindful of avoiding unnecessary injuries and/or yellow cards. So, there is an incentive for them to not go full-throttle on Monday.

I think Dennerby could deploy the 3-5-2 formation in the match as follows:

——-—-Ohale——Nwabuoku——Ebi——

—-Ordega——Ayinde—Chikwelu—C. Okeke—Ebere—-

————————-Oshoala——Oparanozie———-

Yes, I believe Chidinma Okeke can do a job for the Falcons in the midfield. She can’t be worse than Okobi - the supposed AMF - who can barely string a through pass.

'They followed the match plan' - Thomas Dennerby hails Nigeria over South Korea win

Correspondent

The Super Falcons gaffer has praised his players for playing to instructions to claim victory against the Asians

The Nigeria women's coach Thomas Dennerby has praised his players for their solid display in their 2-0 win over South Korea in Grenoble.

The Super Falcons came into the contest with hopes of bouncing back from their 3-0 loss to Norway in their first tie last Saturday in Reims.

At Stade des Alpes, Asisat Oshoala's second-half strike and Kim Doyeon's own goal gave the African champions their first 2019 Women's World Cup win on Wednesday.

While lauding his ladies on sticking to the match plan, the coach believes they have a good chance if they can replicate their form against France.

“Today our discipline was better than against Norway – no mistakes at all," Dennerby told the media.

"If we can be as compact as we were today, don’t let teams overplay us in midfield and find passes through, we know we’ll get opportunities for players like Asisat.

"The players followed our match plan and that’s all you can really ask. Now we go to play France, a really good team. If we can come out with a point everyone would be extremely happy.

"But you can’t just go to defend – you need to know what to do when you win the ball back. And hopefully, we can have a little bit of success.”

The win means Nigeria are third on the Group A log with three points and will hope to wrap up their group stage outing with a fine result against the hosts, Les Bleus on Monday.

I think Rita Chikwelu should just continue as the Defensive Midfielder because she has been doing well better than Ayinde in that position...

Ngozi Okobi need to wake up...she's not the Okobi we know.

I would have loved to try Peace Efih or even Grace Igboamalu in Okobi's position. By the way, what was Rita Chikwelu's position if not defensive midfield?

How could you be confused when the two outstanding performers graduated from U-17 and U-20? Most Nigerians are very breezy.

Rita Chikwelu is naturally an attacking midfielder, right from her U20 days in 2006.
But can play anywhere in the midfield. She was our DM at the 2016AWCON while Florence Omagbemi was in charge, while in 2018AWCON she played centrally with Ayinde being the DM..
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 2:55pm On Jun 13, 2019
How Nigeria can qualify for next round:
1. Beat France by 4 goals or more and we could top the group.
2. Beat France by 1 goal or so and we finish 2nd if South Korea beat or draw Norway.
3. Draw against France and we finish oh 4 points. 90% chance of qualifying as 3rd best team. We could also finish 2nd if we draw France and Korea beat Norway.
4. Lose to France by reasonable margin, 1 goal or 2 goals, and we finish with 3 points and -3 goals difference. That might mean we are out of the tournament. It is expected that around 5 teams will finish 3rd with 3 points.
5. Lose to France by 1 goal, and Korea beat Norway by 4 goals, then we finish 2nd.

Best chance of qualifying: Play France with sense, we can lose but must not lose by more than 1 goal. If we make it to next round, we face Germany.

#s 2,3, and 4 are the most likely scenarios. TBH, I don’t see Korea beating Norway, going by their inept displays so far.

I'm expecting us to play really well, but maybe lose to France by one goal. Then we need to wait till all matches are played to see if we go through. Already, we can start predicting from today's matches. If Brazil beat Australia by more than 2 goals, then our chances improve.
