I'm very sorry I didn't structure my question properly. I received admission into Murray state university. I want to pay for my i-20 shipping fee (which may take days for them to deliver). My school start date is AUGUST 21ST.
1) can I go ahead to pay for d interview fee and DS-160 if I get my i-20. because idk if it will look like I am unserious to them BY the time they gimme an appointment schedule around JULY.

2) can I pay for a ds-160 now!!! and get a scheduled date b4 my i-20 arrives??

Please house I humbly seek advice atm

You can pay your interview fee, but you won't be able to use the receipt number to book the appointment until you use your I20 details to fill the last part of your DS160 and consequently submit the DS160..after that you'll get a confirmation number that you MUST enter while booking your appointment.

You can ask your school to email your I20 details so that you can quickly use it to complete your DS160 and book your appointment.

First ds160 is a form you fill for your interview, you don’t pay to do that. However, you will need some details on your i20 to complete the form.

If you’re in a hurry and certain your i20 will arrive before your interview date, call your school and request for your sevis ID and school code (you can ask them to send it to your email as well). Although you don’t need those before you can pay your visa fee, however, with those you can pay your sevis fee, fill your ds160 form and schedule and appointment.

Note: Don’t submit your ds160 without having your i20. So that you can cross check the details on your i20 with what you’ve filled on your ds160.

I have booked an appointment without submitting my ds 160 form.
I used my application ID number as my confirmation code.

Ask your school to send a scanned copy of the I-20 to your mail.

Thank you very much for the prompt response. I would email them.
Pls I also asked that " going for interview one month to school resumption, does it reduce your chances of getting denied visa as the VO might see it as unseriousness on the person's path".

I cannot really say. Just be positive, genuine and prepare well for your interview. People have gone for their interviews a week to resumption and some in the past after resumption. They still got their visa.

Hi, I’m certainly not a guru on this, but here are my thoughts on your transcript and this explanation.

Except you were trying to save your ex’s behind which has bitten you in the back and is irrelevant as the VO is already aware that he overstayed, you should have just told this story in a more concise manner to the VO. She did ask you to explain after all.

Simply say, irreconcilable differences on your last visit to the US together, you returned home, started the divorce procedures which are since concluded and that’s as far as you know about him since you lost touch after the divorce was final.

There are times to be quiet with them and there are times to speak up. Please speak up and get your visa because this seems like your only stumbling block.

I wish you the best!

Katripka:
Thanks!

We were divorced after he moved to the US.

So here is a little background story, we were having a lot of marital troubles in the early years of our marriage, we both attended numerous counselling and part of the recommendations of the counsellor, was to travel on a family vacation together, in order to help the union.

We applied for a family visa and we travelled together. It was after we got to the US, that the story changed around staying back on our B1/B2. We got into a heated argument as I was unwilling to overstay, so I came back home and commenced the divorce proceedings which was finalized late last year.

I have the divorce documents but the VO wasn't even willing to listen let alone sight the documents. I tried explaining to her, that the opportunity to stay back presented itself, but because I was unwilling to jeopardize my future, I did not.

This is definitely not a case of wife going to join him but it's hard to believe going by the numerous atrocities committed by Nigerians

I have neither heard nor read about something like this. A friend got her visa approved a week to resumption date for international students. I think your focus should be on how to pay SEVIS fee, visa app fee, schedule interview, CAREFULLY complete the DS-160 and submit. Most of all, stand before the VO and prove the authenticity of your studentship.
Yes, I sense anxiety and perhaps naivety. Please breathe, yes, just breathe grin grin grin
Please let me know if you require additional information
Peace be with you grin

No actually. But I don't think it would work as your confirmation number (when booking your appointment) until you've submitted.

The application id and confirmation number are supposed to be the same. Which ever application id he chooses to use, it must match with the confirmation number.

Yes I know they are the same. I said 'no actually' as a response to if they are different.

I'm not just sure the application number would work as the confirmation number (while booking an appointment) when the application is not yet submitted.

Well meaningful contributions bro, will work on them. Big thanks!!!

I think you should be specific on the kind of work you will like to pick up with Sanofi, Pfizer and all. Your career interest I believe will be to work in the lab and you should let the v.o know this.
I believe most of their drugs are not produced in Nigeria

Secondly, you said you are interested in the school because of an ongoing research by a prof on alzheimer and how Nigeria isn't really strong on that but down the Line you are talking about reducing mortality rate of cancer. Stick with a narrative.

All the best

V.o: What will you do wit dis course?
Me: D vast scientific knowledge nd skills acquired from dis program will give me an edge to secure high profile jobs as a research scientist in one of d leading multi-national pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria like Novartis. I'll be able to go into the research and formulation of new quality drugs and drug products to help improve pples' health, increase deir life span, as well as drastically reduce d mortality rate of life threatening diseases like Alzhemeir's disease.

I guess it's nw better bro.
Brown2Green:

How did you hear about the school?
You might want to add a reference you used in searching.. The reference MUST be what your course is basically about.

How many admits?
1 so far. Make it simple

In why this course and what will this course do for you.. I didn't see any place you talked about your likely role and organization . Don't wait till they ask you what you'll be doing after Grad because of lately questions don't get to that before decisions are made.

Do you know his current status in the US? your husbands situation will be tied to yours pending when you can prove to them that he is now your ex, I would say apply again, and hope the next VO will be willing to look at your evidence, to be honest the situation of things right now doesn't really favour your case, with the way how Nigerians are perceived as been overly desperate, lately there have been cases of people coming in on B1/B2 and they are stamped in for the exact amount of time they tell the entry officer they are coming to stay for not the regular 6months, plus they also being restricted from changing status, nevertheless you can still prove your case with the documents you have, again hoping that the VO is willing to consider listening to you.
what is your educational background and what kinda degree are you going for? your educational background if it aligns properly with the program you are going for and your school is top tier, you just might be able to present a solid case to the VO

Hi guys. I joined this thread recently and I've read a lot of people's transcripts so I made my proposed transcript.

Please, your opinions will be of great use to me

P.S: my interview is next week Wednesday

Me: good morning
VO: good morning

VO: Pass your i20 and passport
Me: *hands it over*

VO: why do you want to go to the US
Me: I want to go to the US for my bachelor's degree in Biological Science at Mcnesse State University

VO: how many schools did you apply to?
Me: five schools

VO: and how many gave you admission?
Me: all of them

VO: Name them
Me: Alcorn State University, Lincoln University, Mcneese State University, Minnesota State University, Mississipi Valley state university

VO: how did you get to know about Mcneese?
Me: with the use of educational resources, I conducted an online research on various schools that offer biological science as a bachelor's degree program and Mcneese state university was amongst the universities whose requirements matched my profile.

VO: why do you want to study in the United States
Me: it is acknowledged that getting a higher education and a degree in the United States is prominent and dignified so I see a foundation degree in the US as the best thing to do

VO: why biology
Me: I have always been captivated by the evolution and relation of living organisms. While in high school, I took biology classes because it was a vast subject based on natural science which increased my knowledge about the study of life and living organisms, generally. Thus, biology seems the most appropriate for my advancement into the health sector.

VO: why did you decide to pick Mcneese over other schools
Me: Mcneese State University is distinctive to me for various reasons. Firstly, it is located I'm the heart of its city, Louisiana which offers many cultural and diverse opportunities for students. Also, it has an abundance of school spirit, which includes various campus activities to choose from. One thing I like about Mcneese is, though they're known for having a large population of students, they have showed interest in everyone of them including their future students who have applied to the school

VO: what are your study plans
Me: introduction to biology, general chemistry and pre calculus algebra, along with my freshman year's courses

VO: when did you finish your O'level
Me: last year

VO: I see you have a partial scholarship, who will be shouldering the remaining responsibilities
Me: my mom

VO: what does she do
Me: She is an accountant who works with XYZ company

VO: Pass me an evidence
Me: *hands it over*

Constructive criticism is allowed, please
Any other possible questions that could be asked too, will be much appreciated. Thanks
