Hello guys, please what would happen if someone applies for a study permit on a passport that expires May next year? What are the chances of a pregnant lady getting the visa? Also does having a sibling living in Canada increase my chances? Thanks alot!

To the experienced people here, pls I'm on the verge of submitting my study permit application. I have a close tie sponsor(my brother) with sufficient fund for my masters application. My questions are:
(1) If it makes any difference that he transfers the money into my account or it may remain in his account while I only present his bank statement.
it makes a whole lot of difference because it shows that he is a genuine sponsor however it is very important you also present his SOA. You can’t submit your alone as they are also interested about your sponsors account balance after sending you the funds, his inflow and outflow.
(2) since I am being sponsored, is it necessary that I provide my bank accohunt statement too?
you don’t need to but if you will present some employment or business history, and documents to backed them up, you might have to show your own SOA to back those claims up. I.e transactions and monthly salaries should reflect

Pls your authoritative replies are highly
Any advice or suggestion anybody gives you here is based on personal experience and research. That being said, you also need to make a little research to verify the validity of advice(s) given here... I wish you all the best. appreciated.

Hi everyone good evening, I’ve been following this thread for quite a while now and only decided to post now because I’m in a dilemma.
So I got admitted to U OF M for a masters in human rights, I’m an International Relations graduate by the way, attached to this admission I got $10,000 scholarship and I’m about to submit my visa application since I’m suppose to resume this September, just found out yesterday. I’m confused on what method of application to do, whether online or paper cos I feel like the online application might take time. I’ve worked on all the things I need
SOP
POLICE CHARACTER CERTIFICATE
BANK STATEMENT (getting it on Tuesday)
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
MY MOMS LANDED DOCUMENTS (she’s also my sponsor)
BIRTH CERTIFICATE SHOWING I AND MY MOMS RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE SHE CHANGED HER NAME AFTER MY DAD DIED
I really need y’alls advice on which way to go because if I miss this opportunity (hopefully not) I would be hurt beyond words
Can’t defer cos the program is a September intake only and scholarship is only valid for fall 2019 so I have to leave in September and I also forgot to mention it’s a new program and department we are the first ones.
Thank you
Does the $10,000 cover your entire tuition fee? That aside, make sure the funds in your mum's account is enough to cover your living expenses and others. If you have a bank account I will advise you include it as well. Work on your SOP (sell yourself to the vo there).
As for the route, there's no difference between online and paper with regards to processing time, so do whichever is comfortable for you. Also try to do upfront medical because of time and submit the papers/receipts that will be issued at the clinic. Good luck

pls any difference in online and paper application fee?
There some differences between both, but their processing time is the same .
Online/paper.
1. You get to keep your passport when you apply until when TRV is ready(online), while you submit your passport on the day or applying (paper).
2. There's a limit to the amount of documents to be uploaded file(s) size shouldn't exceed 4MB(online), while there's no limit of documents to submit (paper)
3. After applying you will wait for biometric mail before you can go to the nearest VFS centre do it(online), while you get to do biometric same day you submit your app
3. It is more comfortable as you can apply in the comfort of your room/house(online), while you have to go to VFS office very early due to the expected crowd(paper).
4. More expensive and might even increase due to the exchange rate for that day(online) , while the fee is fixed and less expensive compared to online route (paper).

Are you working now or have you been working after your bachelor's? if yes then I will advise you submit your own personal statement of account together with that of your sponsor.
As for whether he should transfer funds to you, since he is your bliss brother he doesn't have to but I always advise sponsors to transfer funds to the applicant's account as that way the vo knows the funds is readily available.
NB: Try to submit your account and that of your sponsor

You don't have issues with the passport, you will get your TRV but when you get to Canada you won't be given sturdy permit beyond your passport expiry date. Bur don't worry as once you renew your passport you can go back to cic to extend your permit.
For the pregnancy case, I think some applicants have gotten their TRV with it. It also depends if you want to make it known to cic that you are pregnant, If you do then make sure you let them know how you intend to cope with the pregnancy while studying because it won't be an easy task combining both. Others with more experience should please talk more about this

Yes it does,I appreciatecthe contribution, but I will appreciate if you can laid more emphasis more on the tuition,do I have to keep it in my bank account or the sponsor must have it inside his own account? The truth is that I'm getting so much advise outside of this platform that it's more advisable to pay or I defer my admission. Please enlighten me more on this issue.

Payment of upfront fee is not a prerequisite for a visa approval. Supposing the school you're heading to in Canada didn't request for a tuition deposit, you don't have to pay upfront . The estimated cost of your study in Canada should be in your Sponsor's account and must be readily available and accessible by you the principal applicant at any given time. Meanwhile, on the condition that you're self-sponsored applicant, the funds should reflect in your account. You only defer an admission to the next available term when you're unable to meet up maybe due to some unexpected circumstances. The current processing times (9 weeks) is favourable and you should be able to resume studies for the fall term 2019.

Good morning. Been following the thread for a while now and please i need help from the gurus in the house.
Early this year in january, i linked my online application to another account because i couldn't recover my password. Btw: i applied since last year June and that was my 3rd application after 2 refusals. The application is going to be a year 25th of this month. After several mails to cic there was no response, I gave up and decided to get something doing else.

Not until last week thursday, i got a mail saying there's a message in my account.
I was excited, before i realized i don't have my login details again because my phone was flashed, i saved it on my phone, but i lost nearly all details as i didn't fully backup most of my stuff.

I've tried all the recovery questions means, tried to relink it again cuz i later found the login details to the very first one so i was using that means to try to relink but its saying application not found.

Now I'm at the verge of getting a reply to my application of almost a year and i can't retrieve my login details. Please anyone knows what can be done or how i can go about this.

Secondly, for those that got medical mail, please how many days deadline were you given to submit it just incase it was a medical request message or an additional document message. I received the mail on 13th june and this is17th.

Thanks

I don't know if you've been told this but I'll say it all the same: your SOP should show a clear correlation between international relations and human rights, even if it means using a whole paragraph to explain it, please do. You may see the correlation, but someone else (read VO) may not do so, so please explain well, be straight to the point and concise. Also, your SOP should state what you intend to do with the degree in Nigeria. Not something like I want to establish an NGO, but something like "with so and so courses in this degree I'll have the knowledge of so and so, which would help me do so and so because in Nigeria, the respect of human right is still _____".

Good luck.

1. I don't know about this because when I applied, I paid a part of my tuition, so I'm not the right person to answer this. Qudkom knows this better.
2. Yes, please provide your bank statement. Do you work? If you do, please provide your bank statement and a copy of something to show your work.

So it means you need at least additional $14,000($4,000 for tuition balance and $10,000 for your living expenses). So do the conversion to naira and see what you have. You mum should also try to show her source of fund(business, job....) so as to let the vo know she can continue sponsoring you beyond the first year(that's if your program is more than a year). Apart from that I think you are good to go

Please I need some suggestions concerning my brother’s application from the gurus in the house. He has a scholarship of $5000 and a TA position of $5k totaling $10k as what he will be given per year for two years. As part of a means to solve his refusal on the basis of personal asset and financial status, we are considering paying his first year tuition fee of $6k then he ll submit his bank statement of about N5m. To our calculation, he ll have $10k + 5m for his first year of study. This is because the scholarship and TA will be paid in instalments every month for the duration of the study. Please advise if this arrangement makes sense. Or should we leave the $6k in his dollar acct?
PS: he is married with a kid. Thanks a lot for your responses

I don't think the issue here is fund related, any of the above steps you decide to take will be good. Has he ordered for his gcms note? just to be sure why he was delayed. I have a strong feeling he wasn't able to convince the vo on home-tie and personal asset, I will advise he uses his son as his home-tie. He can say that he loves his son so so much and can't stay far away from him for long, so he has enough reason to go back to Nigeria after study to be with his son. Also, other family members can be use as hometie as well, but let him talk more about his son in this case
