It could be longer than that bro.
Just make sure u are ready to hit it hard when it goes high
that way u would gain more'
some gurus here have their own school of thought - (NAIRA DEPRECIATION) when u save for some reasons i still dont understand how/what that means

by the way stuck up some USD now if u can....u see how CUSTOM increase exchange rate?.....it was not done in isolation....the FG just use am test if hot water don boil for this new CHANGE era.

very soon all other FG agencies go spike the USD exchange rate....if u get USD then, u go sell market cool

They probably mean value erosion by inflation.

Saving in Naira doesn't really help.

It probably will but not under Buhari's command lol

My bet is it'll happen under a president that understands business and the need to create an enabling environment for business and the economy to thrive without too much govt interference.

The guy does as he pleases so it's no surprise investors don't trust him.

Value erosion by inflation simply means that your money has less purchasing power.

For e.g., If you bought a laptop for N50,000 in 2015, you won't be able to buy that same laptop for N50,000 today due to inflation causing the price of the laptop to increase.

Inflation in Nigeria is currently around 11%

Investing in TB (and earn 12%) allows your money to barely keep up with inflation.

Your money won't keep up with inflation when you invest in fixed deposit (savings)

Please and please let's try not to bring Buhari's matter here, I am averse to anything anti-Buhari and Osinbajo. Please be guided before we all take our hands to ruin this thread. The useless PDP brought us to where we are today; we give glory to God for giving us Buhari and Osinbajo. I dey carry Buhari and Osinbajo's matter for head o.

Lol, when it comes to fighting corruption I give it to him..he's done ok.

But managing the economy is not his strong suit. It's not a coincidence the economy struggled under him in 1983/85 and now

Saw that coming...ok let's just say he's done more than Goodluck Jonathan when it comes to fighting corruption. I just feel like it was more rampant under Jonathan and he (unlike Buhari) was scared to bring people to account

You see, PDP members have come here now to destroy the good work of the good people here. PDP are locusts, they brought Nigeria to its knees when they held sway. God has given us the combination of Buhari and Osinbajo to rescue our economy. Either Una like it or not, Nigeria will be great. PDP = Corruption.

Bro this is text book
In reality, things are designed to fade with time
I bet 2015 laptop wont worth that sum in 2019
Just look around you and study how those things you spend money on fade with time.
Your 2015 50k might not get you a laptop in 2019 but still, 2019 laptop is surely a higher spec. Now I ask, was this due to inflation or more value added to the laptop by the manufacturer's in terms of design and capacity?

Dont forget not everyone had 50k in 2015, but now they have and can still get laptops better than 2015 specs.

I bought my Siemens C35i for 93,000 in 2003, with that sum I will buy a better phone even at half the price.

I am not saying inflation doesn't exist but not as typical as it is been portrayed. Otherwise, we would be operating on 100% inflation if the statistics are correct since 2005

I agree some things fade with time but inflation accelerates the rate at which this happens.

For e.g. my fufu and egusi soup.

I could eat that in a mama put for N120 a few years back..now they charge N300. It's the same fufu and egusi soup o..no added value lol

A lot of things are getting more expensive..at least in Lagos

I like your examples

But check well, the quality of meat and fish in that egusi soup was not the same 3 years ago.
People still eat same fufu and egusi for less than 100 naira today

In next three years you shall eat in a more better place grin

I am sure your MD won't be proud of you with this misinformation you are giving here, if your Mfb is giving out loan @ 4.1% per month, how ll they pay 12.5% per month? Go and study your Banks product very well, 12.5 is per annum and not per month as you have claimed. I feel like saying you ain't a good ambassador of Baobab mfb.

What the present government is doing to the nation's economy will soon yield fruits openly. Economically speaking, everyone of us - both supporters and opponents, will soon realise that this is one of the worst governments we ever had in the history of Nigeria.
The reason is simple. It keeps borrowing both locally and internationally without any tangible, economy--promoting infrastructural development to show for it.
Everyone of us keeps buying the various TBs and bonds it keeps dishing out. By the time the reality dawn on us all, we will all ......
But I pity most the poor ones, youth and children.

This your idea is the best to go with.
I had over 300k in stanbic mmf which I could have as well locked in tbill. As I speak now, it has reduced to 160k all because I withdrew some funds twice just to buy clothes and some other stuff. I could have done without these if the money was unreachable. No thanks to stanbic who does same day crediting of bank account.

I have learnt and will move the balance to tbills where it will be difficult to access

I do SIMM funds too but i am yet to withdraw, i thought withdrawal is 3 business days before your account get creditted and between how do you withdraw is it using the app or you have to send mail.
Apologies for digressing from the thread pls.

Once Nigerians hear say one person don dey make money from one business, everybody go begin jump enter without studying the business or studying the environment and location. The next thing, the business go fail and the person go then dey point at one old woman for village as the cause. Some start very high in an area that cannot afford such charges and complain of lack of customers. How will you get customers when for instance you open a posh tailoring sewing shop with A/C and all the effizy and charge three times what others in the vicinity are charging and expect to get customers?. You dey sew your own cloth with robots?.

No be only Nigeria boss. It happens everywhere in the world. Once people see a thriving business, everyone start to invest in it and as you start getting competitors, the profit margins reduces. This is the more reason big corporations do have intellectual property and also patent them. This help them to recoup their invested capital and also profit before competitors start coming into it.

The issue of Naira gaiuning value when Dangote refinery comes into mainstream is like betting your investment on hope/ living in fantasy to me. As long as our economy/country depends on a volatile oil commodities to run the economy, Naira has no place to go other than down on the long ru. Nigeria still remains an emerging market and so its exposed to currency fluctuations and volatility. If the powerful Canadian dollars can lose more than 30% of its value against US dollars from 2012 till date. What is Naira to gain value in the long run, mind you Canada has refineries and yet the currency depreciates against USD. Lets be realistic and think outside the box to maximize our investment returns than building it on hope of the govt/Dangote.
To be sincere with you, i am really praying for Naira to gain value because i have almost 100% Naira investment presently but prayer/hope is never an investment strategy. We all have to do the risk reward and cost benefit analysis on either to hold dollar or Naira or even both to minimize risk. God bless our hustle.
