The hypocrisy of these fellas running up and down to talk for the old man is not only shameful but also disgraceful. These same peeps never held their tongue when lashing out at elder Jonathan (ex President).

What the young man did was courageous and very polite. The strength of a man is measured in his ability to withstand equals and superiors.

Name one thing that Wole contributed to this country aside personal honours. Don't honour those who never honoured your fathers.

I am so unimpressed by your comment!!!

Soyinka is and comes from a lineage of activists. The same Soyinka held up a Radio station ( to force the Government's hand) in the 60s, was in 'solitary' confinement for 2 years in the 60s, headed the FRSC at inception... He had to flee Nigeria in the 90s ( just a step ahead of Abacha), at an age his mates were retiring.

Where were you then, what did you do, what have you done?

Soyinka is a dying breed of gentlemen-- men with strong ideologies, courage and intelligence.

'Wole' has contributed to this country more than you will ever do!

If I were that lad I would have used that opportunity to connect with one of the world's greatest.

I know of many people that the humble prof changed their stories by giving them the opportunity the children of wealthy and rulers of this world do not have.

Ignorance I abhor thee. Knowledge I adore thee.

Ass lickers association spotted! Do you know if the young man is already made?

Whoever that young man was he just succeeded in making a mountain out of a mole hill. The Nobel Laureate did not as much as exchange any word with him. The Laureate got up from the seat and relocated on request. Although the young man did not in any way disrespect Prof Wole Soyinka, his successful mountaineering of this mole hill on social media shows the height of his stupidity. Shame on that young man.
. Try borrow some sense...Was it the young guy that posted it on social media?

Age shouldn't be used for blackmail

I agree with the spirit of your response, especially the fact that age shouldnt be used to try and gain an unfair advantage.

However, here is a mitigated circumstance, firstly, we talk about and elderly person who also happens to be a National treasure.

Lets give respect to where its due.

Even Oyinbo and Arabs dey respect there elderly and National Treasures.

I use public transport every now and then and i have lost count the amount of times youngsters invite the elderly to take their seats.

If na Oyinbo or Arab instead of tge Professor, that boy will probably sit their twitching his thumbs; never moving a muscle or uttering a word to them.

Its lack of home training or lack of the acceptance to home training.

Basic home training 101.

Always offer the best and most comfortable seat to an elderly person, because they need it and are bound to appreciate it the most.

Never complain if the elderly mistakingly take over your seat.

One day we are all going to become of age.

There's a common saying:

If an elderly person wishes to occupy a comfortable seat, the seat will miraculously become available.

I bet you have never being inside a plane. People sit on other people’s sit in hope the seat wasn’t allotted or the owner of the seat won’t show up. If Wole refuse to leave the seat, then we can demand apology from him.

As simple as that ...the prof did not ask for all this. It was very stupid of Tonye to have brought it online. very stupid.

The nonentity is just one of the youths of the country supporting thieves and criminals.

SAY NO MORE!
Let me ask you, do you have sense at all?
In as much as we all know that Soyinka didn't deny of his wrongdoing by going against the allocation rules by trying to use emotion in taking away someone else right.
The guy in question has not done anything wrong by lawfully asking for his allocated seat.
It is so foolish of Nigerian youths and that is why even political parties choose a 50yrs old man as her youth leader.
You people should stop playing emotions as if you are the only Nigerians or yorubas.
Prof would never disrespect an American or British in such manner because he knows they will ask for their rights.
The reason why not too young to rule will always be a failure, we can't send the old people packing and they will keep ruling Naija till their grave

Now a young Man refuses to let his rights be stolen from him, but we are abusing him... Using emotional/old age blackmail on him.

dissapointed at your concluding part.... simply put Wole Soyinka's works are case studies in literature. That is a lot. But the problem is that we don't even read. Nigerian youth will rather worship politicians than respect people like him... SO sad...
