lol. GT that earns N200k per month after N4m upfront?

Pro-rate that per month and see if it's anywhere close to Exxon, Shell, TOTAL, Chevron, NLNG - none of which pays less than N850k per month for entry level.

I think this upfront thing confuses people. These IOCs don't do upfront system like NNPC, but if you add NNPC's upfront to the paltry monthly payments afterwards, it is still not close to the guy that will pay you N1m per month at entry level.

So let's say Shell pays N850k per month (they were paying that like 7 years ago!), if they want to operate upfront system like NNPC and decide to be paying you N200k per month, your upfront will be N650k*12 = N7.8m! Compare that to NNPC's upfront of N4m for similar level.

It is only at managerial level that NNPC compares with these companies. At entry level, there is gulf of difference.

replying to your edited post, like i said in my last reply, only total and exxon, i know nothing of, i have vague ideas of some others, while 3 in your first list i have exact legit figures for and they are not far from nnpc's, or to put it this way, wouldn't make one run from nnpc to another if other perks are considered. nnpc's current upfront is a bit higher now sef

Can we re-jig our CV against the one we submitted earlier.

It just occurred to me that there are quite a number of experiences that I have that wasn't included in the former one submitted.

Lol I did so myself with no problems at all.

The 6 CV's you bring with you will be shared among the panelists and that's what they refer to.

Lol... I remember in 2012 during my NNPC interview, I saw many Northerners that wore native to the venue. I don't know if any of them eventually got the job (I assume some did). I have undergone interviews with other multinational corporations and I have never seen anyone wearing native. But then, this is our 'own' NNPC so maybe cultural attires are allowed.

Sincerely, I don't know the answer to the question. But personally, I would rather be on the safe side by wearing corporate outfit.

My friend got a way bigger job. NNPC no dey list of Top 7 highest paying oil companies in Nigeria o.

TOTAL Upstream, Shell, Chevron, ENI/AGIP, Exxon, Addax, Seplat, NLNG and a few other independents pay more than NNPC, especially at non-managerial level.

But from management level, they are close. I know people that moved from Shell to NNPC but at high level - GM level.

Thanks sir

in the northern states, native is considered as corporate also when matched with the right cap and shoes

I do not want to discuss in detail about pay. But the fact remains that if a candidate is to choose between an IOC and NNPC, and his/her only consideration is total pay package (monthly + NNPC upfront inclusive), IOCs are your best bet. An average IOC pays much more in every ramification. Like I said earlier, many NNPC staff still apply for IOC jobs. IOCs also generally offer staff more practical on-the-job experience.

However, if you are considering job security (that is if NNPC is not sold anytime soon by govt) and work life balance, go for NNPC. This doesn't mean that IOC staffs do not have healthy work life balance. Just that you can never beat government job in Nigeria when it comes to work life balance.

I did mine today. A bit of info to help you guys coming later.

Review your CV very well. Basically, your CV is your interview. GTs, If you cannot honestly defend what's on your CV, change it now (you can now..no one has seen it yet) to a simpler one and make six copies. Lol, CV is just one part of the interview. So, this is no "expo". But your CV determines the tone of your interview.

Prepare for situational/behavioral questions. At least one. IFTTT, if this happens, what will you do... this particular question is almost different for everyone. So don't expect to be asked what your friend was asked.

Prepare for one NNPC related question. It is different based on which group is interviewing you. It might be..why should we hire you? What can you do for NNPC? How do you contribute to the vision of the company? Where do you fit in? Anything like these...so don't cram anything.

Almost everyone started the interview with "tell us about yourself/can we meet you?" This question looks simple, but it is not. Google how to answer this question under 2 minutes without blabbering.

Prepare for standard interview questions... conflict resolution/teamwork/leadership scenario, etc...Just prepare like it is another standard interview.

Be calm, and say your mind. Structure your responses well, a little bit of fact, a little bit of cockiness...

...............

Jarus God bless you indeed, your coaching helped in more ways than one. Highly recommended.

Bros, far back 2008, my generation as entry level, Shell was paying N500k for entry level. In other words, what NNPC pays today to entry level was what Shell was paying 11 years ago. No be say I hear o. Na wetin I see.

By the way, someone from one of the 2 IOCs you said you know nothing of has been consistently telling you on this thread that NNPC does not come close to the IOCs at non-managerial level strictly on pay terms. This is someone that has collected salaries in both companies o.

People are just worried about Salary and not concerned about the training necessary.

Geektrovert has done justice in that regard with his detailed post, I'd just be repeating what he's said.

Situational questions are unavoidable for EH like I earlier said.

Oil industry question as well.

Expect a role related question too. Good luck!

Now this is not to take anything away from NNPC as a very fantastic place to work. If I get a Manager or even DM position there myself, I will take it.

I personally wont take any oil servicing firm, even Schlum, ahead of NNPC for 3 reasons

1. At this stage of my career, if I make a job change, I would like it to be where I would spend almost all the rest of my career. NNPC guarantees that more than oil servicing firms

2. Oil servicing firms are very volatile - they lay off at the slightest issue with oil and gas industry.

3. I'm a support professional (not a core technical person like engineers, geologists etc), we have limited roles in the oil servicing because they don't own oil assets that involve complex finance function.

That said, if I were entry level and a technical person (engineers, geologists etc), and I have offers from NNPC and Schlumberger (not just any oil servicing), I may consider Schlum because of the international brand which can help in penetrating international oil and gas market. I have a friend that moved from Schlumberger Nigeria to Schlumberger UK then to Saudi Aramco.

But generally, NNPC offers more stability and security.
