What exactly did the refusal say?

first thing...she should email her international student office. And narrate everything. They can issue a fresh I-20 and she can reapply. She also needs to email the health services office of the university and ask them to write a letter saying they processed the insurance for her. As an international student, you get a “plan” which is not full insurance. It has limits. Dollar limit and I doubt full cost of delivery and labor is involved. If the Sch clinic truly processed the insurance on her behalf then they should take responsibility. If allyou stated is true and she gets the school involved, she has a good chance of approval upon reapplying. Note you can’t appeal the initial decision so it is a fresh application. Also as advised, find a US lawyer to advise better.

Interesting that the consulate in NY said they don’t do ETC for minors. Ended up doing nigerian visa which was slightly more expensive but delivered in same number of days excluding postage time
musspuss:

For all those asking, this has been answered already. Visa on arrival for newborns was stopped at the end of May.

The official price for an ETC is $150 according to the Consulate's website. Of course, you cannot trust anything the government is involved with and as usual, there are agents all around involved in racketeering.

We paid $250 + $30 for overnight postage. We used agents in Atlanta. There are two of them around the Consulate which you can view on Google Maps. It took around 3 working days for it to be ready even though they promised one working day.

They asked for a passport photograph and a photocopy of the birth certificate. You also need a consent letter signed by both parents and notarised (you can do this at a bank or post office), and copies of both parents' Nigerian passports, and then you fill a form.

The bolder is wrong! Very very very wrong. Student insurance is not limited and covers quite a lot, including CHILDBIRTH. My friend had a baby on student insurance in 2013 and her childbirth was covered. The insurance she had through the school was Cigna

Hello everyone. I am new on this site. Please will like to get a b2 visa to give birth in the US but getting a hospital which accept self paid services has not been easy. I guess I need recommendations from the doc to add to my docs. Please any recommendations on how to carry on. Precisely a hospital in Maryland will be best at a moderate prize too. Thanks in advance.

Maryland hospitals are quite expensive and may require you book an appointment well ahead. You could try holy cross in silver spring. Doctor is Moore Obgyn. There’s also u of Maryland st Joseph hospital in Towson

Hi everyone,
I have a child with a US passport and intend traveling for my second baby.
Child will travel with me.
I have valid B1/B2 visa which was vacation purpose and got it 8 months before I was pregnant.well did not plan to have child but it came.
I don't intend asking for change of intent at a critical time like this.
All receipts of first child's payment and appointment with Dr for this present delivery is available.
At point of entry what should be my purpose of trip?
Your advise pls
Thanks.

The purpose of your trip should be the purpose you present at POE

The purpose for the trip should be that you are there to give birth. From what you wrote I can see that you're well prepared, and if by chance the issue of the visa not being for birthing comes up,you can explain yourself properly that it was initially gotten for vacation before you got pregnant. All the best.

Good day All,

I landed in Orlando on Sunday and Poe was smooth after gathering all documents for previous births. Visa was renewed in March last year but was not used till now.

Was asked only two, what I was here for and how long I will be staying.

Told her childbirth and will be staying for two months. She stamped me in till December 2019 and I was out of there.

After all the horror stories, I am grateful to spend less than 4mins with the CBP Officer.

okay...so for those still looking for recent IAD POE experience...

Arrived Washington Dulles with my toddler via qatar airways. Flight was good...i had a whole row to myself on both legs so we pitched our tent there and my girl was able to sleep well. Please ensure to process ur medif as mentioned. In IAD, very very long queue...i used the express passport and within minutes was done and on my way out. I was surprised that no question was asked and while still wondering if what just happened was real, I heard an officer call madam from the back.
I turned and he asked how I got in, I told him his fellow just stamped me in, he brought me back to his desk. Another officer came and asked him why he called me back, he said he just got an info about me (in my mind i was like God pass una).
he checked my daughter's passport, gave it back to me and dropped mine in a red box. he handed over to me and sent me elsewhere....ur guess as good as mine. Almighty secondary...

The truth is I honestly don't know where the confidence came from, but I wasn't scared one bit. My toddler was running around and I kept chasing her with my big belle. After about 30mins, I was called.
CBP- how are you madam
Me - fine thanks and u
CBP - fine. how much did you pay for your daughter's delivery
Me - about 3200
CBP - no delivery in the US can be that cheap
Me - well, there is. I signed a self pay package that offers that amount if payment is made before discharge.
CBP - which hospital
Me - John H Stroger.
CBP - but you told someone in your flight that you gave birth for free
Me - Not at all, I even had a row to myself on both legs of the trip so I never discussed anything with anyone.
CBP - Why are you no longer using same hospital
Me - My host is on holiday
CBP - Which hospital will you be using now
Me - HC
CBP - Do you have a doctor
Me - Yes
CBP - How much do you have
Me - $$ and I have also paid my doctors fee in full
CBP - can I see the receipt
Me - oh sure, gave him
CBP - now come with me, we need to count the money
Me - (I followed to another room where he counted the money )
CBP - Make sure you take all your receipts with you on subsequent visits.
Me - okay. Thank you.

That was how I left the place to meet my host who was already waiting even before arrival of the plane. Bags not checked at all and that was it.

Tips For Giving Birth in the USA

Hello. Thank you for this info. Although i have a valid US visiting visa which i just renewed after using it for a family vacation sometimes in 2017, now i am hoping to use the visa to birth my baby in the US later this year. Do you think i stand a chance of not been refused at POE. I also intend to go with my daughter who's visa couldn't be renewed via dropbox like ours (my husband n I) because they've stopped dropbox, she has an interview for Aug 15th.

Lastly can anyone help with useful information like doctor's contact, affordable hospital and i. Please bare in mind i only have relations i can stay with in Chicago, Arizona, Plano or Lubbock in Texas.

Thanks alot
