Goodmorning , I am a MSc student on tier 4 visa. I want to invite both Dad and Mum(Both Retired Teachers, Pensioners) over for my wedding, is it okay for me to apply for tourist visa so they can attend the wedding or just send an invitation for wedding? My Aunt. who is a British Citizen is suggesting of sending my Mum and Dad an Invitation by herself for holiday just for them to come in during that wedding period. Thanks and I look Forward for your suggestions

Did the agency ask for credit report? If No, a guarantor will save the hassle and then subsequent renting becomes easy and cheaper as your current agent/LL will provide reference for you.

If yes, what I did when moving house and the new agent could not understand why we dont have a credit report. Went on clearscore and noddle website and inserted 3years on our current UK address and apparently we had a credit file and history but the 3 year address history column will always prevent you from registration.

Note by then we had already stayed more than 1 year in the country though, so may not work if you are a newbie.

Sorry, but I dont have any assitance to share.
I wasn't asked for credit check when I rented my flat in Scotland.

When I first tried to get a credit card after staying 4 years, Nationwide said they wouldn't give me because I didn't have utility bills to prove my address at the time, even though I already had more than 3 years UK addresses.

I just waited until I moved to a proper flat and applied to my bank, and got a credit card immediately.

Maybe you should have a word with the agent and explain your situation as a newbie, you can ask if they'll take reference from your employer as that's your only sure link for now

i think if an agent is giving you headache, just blacklist that agent and shop elsewhere....i havent been here upto 3 years and never had this problem, they usually ask foor employer reference or your job contract. i remember one asked me for 6months rent upfront. Those type of people might try to cheat you out of your deposit when you want to move out. read their google review page too

I have been looking at Gumtree and Facebook marketplace and recently e-bay. Autotrader seem expensive. I found 1 car auction company in Letchworth, Hertfordshire too.

Please what is the best way I could get a little Banger? Something little. A good runner. Dazzol.

I haven't bought a car yet, nether have I bought insurance.

But I've been driving a company car for about 6 weeks now (with company insurance).

Will this driving experience give me a discount when I eventually buy my own car insurance? I'm also 30+ years old.

I recently used Quotezone to get a quote and the cheapest I got was £789.

not really sure about admiral and their littlebox. they put a device that monitors your mileage and increase ur premium as you go....it was very annoying for me. Initially spent 1,400 when registering. at the end of the year,i paid out 2k.....i didnt even use up all my mileage, and was expecting automatic refund, but they said i didnt reduce the mileage myself. So they didnt refund my excess premium....If you rev ur engine too much, they know...very crazy monitoring

Good idea...please takeur first application very seriously, if they deny it, it will always come up on future application. i would suggest you even use an immigration lawyer to make sure it is water tight....alsonote, Home office don't refund visa money....so you don't fund summer holiday for their staff....They have chop about 5 applications for my mum and brother....very painful

@STENON, I don't think it's serious enough for you to use an immigration lawyer for a visitor visa. I am on tier 2 and applied for my folks last year with virgin passport and they got their visas. I've also just applied for my mum and brother this year too.
If your parents are paying for their trip themselves, then either yourself or your aunt can invite them. If their trip is being sponsored, then let the person paying invite them. Important things to note:
1. Funds - plan their budget well and ensure whoever is paying for their trip isn't spending a large % of their income or savings on the trip.
2. Proof that they will return back home - do they have jobs/businesses/investments/dependents/etc - make sure you include evidence of these in their application.
3. Try to make sure there are no large deposits in any of the bank statements you're submitting. If there are, then make sure you explain the source of the money in a cover letter.
Also, read through the uk visitor visa thread https://www.nairaland.com/5233246/general-uk-visa-enquiries-part/27 There's a goldmine of useful information there. If you have specific questions, post it there so you can get more relevant responses.

This is my experience;
1. Get a full driving first ( I went for an auto test/license, passed once)
2. Get an auto car( I got a Kia picanto 2012 auto 16000 miles at a Kia franchise dealer for almost £5500) best deal ever and almost new car. I don't regret my choice. I advise do what will give peace of mind.
3. How is much is my insurance? Guess! £650 from Aviva. All I did was to add my full license and my wife's provisional license as the 2nd driver.
My advice is make a lot of research and go for something that will give u peace of mind.
Side note: my Kia picanto auto is a 1.23l engine but drives like a 1.4l.

Did you buy the insurance and car together as a deal? Or did you buy the car first, and then buy insurance?
