A friend of mine Ndidi (real name) told me that his father asked him before graduation that what does he want to do after graduating? He replied saying, he will like to work in the bank and the dad laughed. The following day the father gave him money to deposit into his account and when he return home the dad asked him to explain the process and after explaining to his dad, the dad tell him to have rethink of what he want to do in future if he doesn't want to be keeping people's money or shouting we no go gree oooo. That's how the guy start a business and now one of the biggest customer in one of the branch of TE Bank. |

Is it their father's company that they shouldn't get sacked? It's business, not an NGO. There's no sympathy in business, in advanced countries fired workers bow their heads and walk away with nary a whimper. But in Nigeria workers deem it a right to remain perpetually employed. 2 Likes |

odave: Best advice. Even in private companies. Whenever you envisage there may be downsizing, just collect loan, they won't sack you. 1 Like |

People should see bank work as a place where you want to start and try looking for better opportunity, Most people feel relaxed after grabbing a bank job. years of experience in bank job never count. people should start seeing bank job as a temporary job and leave without looking back when new opportunity surface. 4 Likes |

Bet9jaVirtual: I agree. I heard about this from a reliable source yesterday. Apparently, most people sacked were bank tellers with over 10 years in service. Some of them in their mid 30s who have been getting salary increments as the norm. As a business man, would you keep increasing salaries for a skill set like bank tellers or would you employ young people in their early 20s willing to earn a fraction to kick start their career? Being a bank teller for 10 years doesn't sound like someone you would want to keep indefinitely. My opinion but put urself in the position of the owner. 6 Likes |
