Kehinde, one of the sons of Reuben Fasoranti, Afenifere leader, has given an account of how Funke Olakunrin, his sister, was killed in Ondo State.

Olakunrin was killed by persons suspected to be herdsmen while heading to Ore junction from Akure, Ondo State, where she was attacked and shot by her attackers.

Kehinde speaking to reporters in Akure said that the tragic incident occurred hours after she visited her 93-year-old father, who had not fully recovered from the death of one of his daughters.

According to him, his sister could not survive the attack because she lost too much blood.

He said: “I just came back to Akure with my sister’s body tonight from Ore town. She was on her way to Lagos after she left baba (Pa Rebeun Fasoranti) house Friday morning.

“Her vehicle was ambushed around Ore town. The gunmen started shooting at them at the Ore expressway and the driver had to quickly turn back but unknown to him there are some of them in the bush along the other side of the road.

“They shot at the tyres of the SUV she was travelling in along with other persons. There were five people in the car, a driver, herself, a cook and two of her nephews.

“Sadly, she was hit by a bullet and was rushed to a hospital but she lost too much blood and she died minutes after.

“By the time the police would respond, about 30 minutes later, the gunmen had gone back into the bush. They ran after hearing the sound of the patrol van. Nobody was kidnapped inside her own vehicle.

“Although, those who were wounded were rushed to a hospital and have been checked by doctors and they are fine.”

DAILY POST recalls that Afenifere’s spokesman, Mr. Yinka Odumakin in a statement said 58-year-old Mrs. Olakunrin was killed by persons suspected to be herdsmen while heading to Ore Junction from Akure, Ondo State, where she was attacked and shot by her attackers.

But the Ondo State police command refuted Odumakin’s claim, saying it was an armed robbery attack.

RIP to her.The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any solution in sight to this menace.After now,it would be forgotten until the next HIGH PROFILE victim.This incident happens on a regular basis on that axis, unfortunately it happens to the unknown and the family of the voiceless.If something is not done about this quickly, anarchy might just be looming.A stitch in time ...

kidnappers even armed bandits. What is very
obvious is their mode of operation. They camp in
the forests near highways(for long period of
time)...They are well armed....They are well
connected and they have nothing to lose. These
closely resembles that which you have of
Bandits in Zamfara and Boko Haram in
Borno,Adamawa and Yobe. Therefore we can
safely deduce that Boko Haram elements(with or
without their idealogy) have infiltrated via
Zamfara, Kaduna,Kwara into the Southwest.
Knowing fully well the SE and SS are relatively
no go areas as compared to SW not forgetting
how the south west have engendered close
political ties with the north as well as close
religious ties also, you could safely predict that
the Southwest is going to be the next staging
ground for Fulani/core Northern expansionism
after the middle belt. Unless the Yorubas stand
up and take actions, incidences like these
kidnappings and killings of prominient yorubas
will become the norm thus instituting a reign of
terror and fear in Yoruba land just as you have in
Zamfara, North Eastern Nigeria and some part of
Middle belt.

Why is it so difficult to flush out these terrorists? Is it that they have become untouchable or are the security operatives afraid of them and their sponsors? It's so unfortunate that innocent lives are lost on a daily basis on account of the activities of these marauding criminals. Enough is enough, let the security chiefs and even the government step down if they can't protect lives and property - this is the primary reason they are there in the first place, not to loot and live lavishly.

Mad people, they should start killing every big man pikin them. They know what to do to stop this menace but they choose to look the other way because of money or politics. Please Fulani herdsmen should be killing all these big men them. If na poor person pikin now you won't hear poo. Kudos to the Herdsmen on this, we need more of this scenario.

... This attack is more of an assassination but the hatred for APC won't allow some people to think. This woman had nothing to do with farm or whatsoever. What's she dragging with Fulani herds men that'll warrant them to waste her like that? Anymore could put on a Fulani attire to carry out the attack...

Rip to her I feel for the old man loosing to children in short period of time is terrible. But let's analyze the issue carefully and stop spreading hate.
