Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has reacted to the claims by singer Timi Dakolo that “some strange men” made attempts to invade his Lagos residence.

Igbere TV reports that Dakolo, on Saturday, took to his Instagram account to raise an alarm over a strange bus that parked in front of his house.

According to the singer and his wife, Busola, they were being intimated and threatened as the men in the bus were armed.

The singer posted a photo of the bus – a Toyota Hiace — with registration number Lagos BR932KSF.

The police on Saturday, however, confirmed that their men were sent to serve official invitation letter on the duo for questioning over alleged falsehood.

Reacting to a tweet by Mrs. Aisha Buhari, which read: “ATTENTION: INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE #SayNoToRape #JusticeForRapeVictims #SayNoToIntimidation”, Dabiri-Erewa wrote;

“Fully supported. #SayNotoRape. We hope not true that Police intimidating the Dakolo’s. I believe in you @PoliceNG. Pls don’t let us down. One of the reasons victims of Rape keep quiet. This is the tipping point!! Not anymore. Thank you @aishambuhari for your leadership in this.”

I saw in my dream a natural death awaiting this case. Who's surprised really that 3 armed Nigerian police men went to their house to submit an invitation letter to them as Dakolos have been on wanted list hence, the invasion. Sometimes you wonder if Naija police dey undergo courses or training at all .

... Let someone checks Timi's pant if he gat some balls he talks too much for a man. What's the intimidation here? Was he manhandled? I believe if Timi called 911 for emergency he'll expect at two police vans in his house without ranting on social Media.

No hiding place for you anymore finish what you started. I'm not moved by sympathy or publicity stunt Busola needs to clarify her story. You claimed the incident happened in 1999 when Biodun's daughter was born but the baby fortunately was born in 2000.

That's a case for her to answer but no one is talking about it.

A police office told me he and his colleagues almost got mobbed when they went to invite a suspect to answer questions in the station peacefully but it turned out bad for them they'd to call for backup if not it would have been a sad story.

those of you saying armed police man went to Timi's house to deliver a message is intimidating should know that the county is not safe one two police officers might be molested easily. If the police had physically Assaulted his family that's a different case.

Am neutral too.I have so many questions I needed to understand in taking decision on this case.As it unravels, I believe I will see evidences that will help my final decision.

I am not supporting rape but a case of rape must be reported either by victim or by guardian but either way, it should be brought to the attention of the police and once it's been registered then police shall grant medical investigation and if investigation is concluded then matter shall be charged to court.
Anyone who goes on social media to report a case of rape against another can be charged for defamation
