Yampotatocarrot:I believe d chickens destroyed ur crops cz f d grain remnants and d maggots in d dung and do so 2 rabbit droppings if d above factors abound! I avoid these by reducing amt f wasted feed pellet in droppings and drying d droppings. rabbits on solely greens don't attract chickens 2 dr droppings. I balance it in my limited knowledge by applying good amt f ash from wood and bush clearings if 4 fruit veges only... d experienced Ogas okoroemeka and cocoboms can help out on d balancing tin tho |

ideepaul: If you cover your applied poultry manure with a thin layer of soil, chickens won't scatter it from my experience. It's mainly when they can see the manure on d surface that they seem interested in scattering it |

Yampotatocarrot: If one of the issues with fresh poop is that it is 'too strong', then it seems to me that one solution will be to dilute it with sufficient amount of water & use straightaway as an alternative to soaking. Start with a dilution rate of 1 part poop to 10 part water. Experiment with a small patch of cucumber plants & see if it works. If it still feels too strong, then try 1 part to 12 part & so on until you get to a satisfactory dilution rate. Well diluted fresh poop will have much less stink compared to the soaked version. If you experiment & kindly announce the result here, it will help those of us looking for an alternative to soaking. I personally don't have easy access to chicken poop at the moment, otherwise I would have experimented. |

Yampotatocarrot: That's why I suggested you experiment with not soaking, in order to significantly reduce the bad odour.. Dilute with sufficient amount of water and use straightaway. |

Olaleyeabdullah:it's is doable, only if your waist and joints will sustain the battering that will come from drawing water from well and irrigating almost 2000 cucumbers ,at least a submersible pump and hose will help |

Hasib04:plan to do cukes nursery and cover with tarpulin so it will germinate and u transplant in 6 days, planting direct on soil now is 50/50,soil is too cold and heavy rain can fall covering the seed with a heavy layer of soil, making it impossible for the seedlings to come out. |
