Thank you very much Sir,
I e mailed the graduate school up til last week and I'm being told that it is with the faculty and it is being awaiting for programs decision
That's what I received from the email
What do you think sir??
[Qquote author=nelem post=80869121]

Likely you have not been accepted, because I believe admission decisions for Fall '19 must have been made. You can still send an inquiry mail to grad school(or whatever department incharge of grad school application) to get an update on your application. [/quote]

A big congratulations to you

tayben015:
I've been a silent follower, I am grateful to you all for your contributions, I have really gained a lot from this group, thank you for all you do.

MY VISA WAS APPROVED THIS MORNING

VO: good morning, pass me your passport and i20

Me: I did

VO: so you are going to the US to study computer science.

Me: I am actually going to study management information systems with a major in computer systems analysis.

VO: what did you study in your undergraduate

Me: I studied Electrical and Electronic engineering with a major in telecommunications which has got to do with informations. MIS too has got to do with solving business problems with information technology.

VO: Why do you need a master's degree now, since you have been working with **** state government since you finished your NYSC

Me: I need a master's degree in MIS now for career advancement. Besides, more ministries are being created in my state and their is serious need for database administrators.

VO: I can see you have relatives in the US, what do they do?

Me: yes, I have 2 brothers in the united state, they are students of UIS, one just graduated and will be starting his PhD this same month, the other is still studying MPH.

VO: who will sponsoring you

Me: My elder brother, he is in charge of the family funds.

VO: I'll be approving your visa, he brought out the white paper and circled collection point, I didn't even wait to hear when to pick it up. I just carried my file and left.

No SOA asked, I didn't even take any test and I applied to just one school. It was just God!

To God be the glory, thank you nairalanders.

God doesn’t grant or deny visas, can we please tone down on the insincere religious groveling? It smacks of desperation rather than true reverence for God.

I read through your profile quickly and it’s easy to see why you were denied an F1 visa 4 times. At your last visit to the US, you stayed for 5 months! That’s almost half the year. What job allows you to take a 5 month vacation? The #1 criteria for qualifying for an F1 visa is that you show solid ties to your home country and prove non-immigrant intent. Well you decide if your travel history does that.

Lastly, you’re applying for an MA in theological studies. You can do that in any school anywhere on the planet. Using the name “Harvard” does not grant you any special privileges here.

You can spend more time understanding why you where denied a visa and reconsidering your goals than wasting your time rolling on the floor.

Lol! Lol! Lol! I begged ooo, I begged that no one should come for me cos I have headache and I am preparing for my interview... *Ok, inhale and exhale* grin I rolled on the floor to thank God on behalf of someone else's visa. That's completely different from my previous denials. You didn't have to tag it "insincere religious grovelling". Haba! Haba Baba!

I have never said I was right by staying in the States for 5 months on a visiting visa. Never! I knew I was wrong and it's of no use crying over spilt milk. An health emergency came up that required me staying that long. Off course at the time, I didn't know it was a wrong move. I got the 4 rejections within 3wks because I didn't want to loose my admission, last year. Desperation is the last thing that defines me. You really didn't have to throw that low blow. I know what went wrong then and I know what to do, thanks for the advice.

About the job, I am a lecturer and a school owner. As a lecturer, you can get a leave of absence without pay. You have aired your opinions, hope I was able to clarify a few things for you? Please kindly don't come after me with negative inferences and assumptions. All the best.

My Transcript

Visa approved at Lagos Embassy, 30th July 2019

School: Clarkson University

Funding: 66,000$ (Tuition and stipends)

Course : Msc Chemical Engineering

This was my 9th attempt, 7 in Lagos, 2 in Abuja

Here is my today's visa transcript:

V.O: (Looked at my i20) I see you have a teaching assistantship, what will you be teaching?

Me: I will be assisting prof. ... in grading students papers, invigilating test and exams, other teaching duties will be assigned upon resumption

V.O: what was your undergraduate Major?

Me: chemical engineering

V:O Where do you work and what's your duties?

I currently work as a process engineer at D***y Industries Limited and stated my duties

V.O: (Started typing for a long time and checking his system, he was shaking his head too and my mind was beating fast.) He asked, have you travelled outside the country before?

Me: Yes, I have been to Ghana

V.O: is it by flight or road and how many times

Me: I travelled by road and that was sept last year and came back same month

V.O: (Went to meet another V.O, he stayed there for like 4mins, I don't know what they were discussing). After he came back, he asked... What's your plans after graduation?

Me: Upon completion of my masters degree, I will be resuming a new position at my current place of work as a senior process engineer and I am going to be on a paid study leave (I brought out the letter, he saw it and said he doesn't need it, I pushed my letter back to my file).

V.O: (Typing for a very long time and checking stuffs on his system) you have been to Abuja embassy last time, what transpired there?

Me: During my last interview, the V.O wasn't convinced that I am a credible student and hence I was refused. I have come to demonstrate my credibility as a student, I wrote GRE and scored 324, had a good grade (1st class) and believe i definitely do very well during my masters studies at Clarkson University. (He nodded)

V.O: (Started typing again and checking stuffs on his system), You applied for safety science at Embryl Riddle Aeronautical University in 2017, why the switch to chemical engineering (For my mind, e don come again o)

Me: That's was when I finished my National Youth Service and was working with a firm so i needed to increase my safety knowledge but since I changed place of work and now dealing with chemicals, I needed to develop knowledge in the area of chemical catalysis and plasma processing which will be needed when I resume a new position at my place of work. (He nodded)

V.O: Do you have anybody in USA?

Me: No, I don't have anybody

V.O: (Typed for ages, for like 2mins and was checking his system, my mind was beating fast. He took my passport and those blue papers, I was like it's finished, another refusal. Immediately he brought out the white paper and circled a location, then said the golden words) YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED, then passed my i20 and sevis receipt

Me: collected my i20 and shouted Thank you sir!!! I ran out of the embassy and people were shouting what is it, I was running till i reached where I entered cab to my house cos it was like a dream or like i was watching a movie.

That's it... I saw God's favour today

You won’t be leaving the airport all through the stopover. Hence, no need for a transit visa.

saving cash is not by long hours. booking early enough is key to cutting down cost. some long hours are still very expensive
