Yes. He was refused after being placed on AP. Then he reapplied and was approved again and placed on AP. It was later issued. Read the transcript; it is well stated there.

Now this AP thing is getting me worked up. My interview is about 3 weeks now and I'm supposed to travel in about a week. Why this delay?

They know students are resuming this month, I have a feeling we will get responses before the week runs out.

Hello everyone, please my brother is urgently in need of accommodation around UC Davies. He’s going there for his PhD this FALL.
He’s ready to share with anyone who holds an accommodation or someone who can accommodate him for a few days for him to sort out housing issues. All the ones he’s got online, they need him to be present for inspection.
So please if you can help, we will really appreciate. Thank you in advance.

F1 visa is not HB1 visa. You’re not permitted to work on F1 visa.

If you want to “risk” nonsense, you will be out of status, your mates in Nigeria will conclude their degree, apply for graduate school, get full funding and come to America, and you will end up with no degree and no status in the US.

You will only be able to work under the table, and soon enough, immigration will get a hold of you and send you back home, with nothing to show for time time spent in America.

You’re NOT in a dilemma. You just want somebody to tell you it’s okay to commit a crime.

But for free; I tell you: IT’S NOT OKAY.

Don’t go to America with the intention to abuse your visa. It will end up badly.

very correct my friend
Though F1 students are permitted to work 20 hours per week( which must be on campus jobs ) .
Also 40 hours a week during summer breaks

At most $700/month if the person works on campus for 20hours per week.

Double that for holiday.

Depending on the city, you’d be spending close to that amount on living expenses per month.

If he has some amount on him, he can consider transferring to a cheaper community college. That’s the only feasible option. But abandoning education and working illegally? It’s a bad idea.

You have said it all
Best option is him going to a community college if he really intends to travel
But my opinion to the concerned person
1)he doesn’t have a sponsor which is quite odd after getting the visa
2) where would he be when he gets there (feeding and accommodation)
Things he should put into consideration and many more
To the “concerned” don’t inconvenience yourself just because you want to leave the country unless you have someone to assist you
Good luck with all endeavors !

Does anyone here know about Loyola University Chicago? and if they offer funding for MSc
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by TWoods(m): 8:50pm On Aug 05, 2019
Stevenssen:

How will you go 'and work' when you are not paying your tuition?
Message the school, explain your situation and try and get funding. If you can't pay the tuition, better finish up your bachelor's here and try to get enough funding for your masters. You already have a visa and you didn't use it to run away, so that will be an advantage to you when you apply again.

Message the school for what? It’s not a charity for foreigners. The school must have been crystal clear on the tuition fees and other costs of education. He must have provided a statement of account for the school to issue him an I-20. Why is it the school’s problem if he essentially lied that he could afford tuition when he knew fully we’ll he could not?

This is the problem I’ve mentioned here before. Too often people are enamored by the “prestige” of schooling in America without counting the cost. The sad truth is that sooner rather than later, the US consulate will start verifying with so-called sponsors whether they really have the funds to sponsor a student or not and/or requiring them to remit the money into dedicated accounts in the US as some European countries require. We just cannot be trusted to be honest at anything.

Because fellow Nigerians have forced them to have to question everything you submit. Blame yourselves, not them. At least they put you on AP rather than deny you outright.

Best thing to do - plan ahead next time. Factor in time on AP when you’re applying for a visa.

Don’t bet on it. The consulate is not required to factor in your resumption date when on AP. H1B visa holders are known to spend up to 6 months or more on AP, and it doesn’t matter if your boss is a senator. Technically, being on AP is the same as a visa refusal. Hope for the best.
