I used luminous 900 vac, leoch 100ah for over 4 years charging with ibedc and generator. I just bought solar panels(4×150watts @90K) and a 200ah mercury battery(90K). I got Y-branch connectors(6K) from ali express and 40amp pwm charge controller(7K) from ali express too. I used pumping machine cable for the wiring. It is a DIY connection. I got all information online especially on quora(download the app on playstore, register and post your questions. Answers will come from experts from all over the world).

PS: To experts and installers in the house, why is my solar charge controller reading fluctuating between 0.2 and 4.5? I have installed only 3 of the panels in parallel; i expect at least 8amps from each to total 24 but i am getting only 4.5 max. I have asked questions ad realised i did all as i ought. I am being told i should change cable(wire) to 6awg because of distance(5m from panel to wall, 8m up and another 10m to charge controller; total being about 25m). The recommeded 6awg cable is sold 75K at alaba, lagos. I cant afford that now. But i see people use the type of wire i used(1.5mm ie 12awg) successfully.

Get a 16mm cable for good performance

I have been told this but the cost is about 75K which i cant afford for now. it was even suggested thät i use 3 threads of 4mm on each leg.

If it is....then its not safe for some electronics, I have seen nairalanders complaining about their electronics getting bad because of modified sinewave inverters. Let us enlighten people about voltage compatibility of panels and inverter if they are not buying mppt controller.
As a DIY solar enthusiast, i wanted to buy 200watt panel. Yet my previously acquired inverter was 12v. It was in my research that i stumbled on the info that panel should have same voltage as inverter except if you plan on using mppt controller which unknown to me. But for that fortuitous info, i would have ended up with "junk".
So many times we advice forgetting we are often dealing with novice. It was in my solar quest that i discovered the names ground side and high side; and i went to a prestigious secondary school and was in science class.
I guess theory is different from practical. All we did then was cram ohms law etc without understsnding the practical application. Lol


PS: dont forget to change your bulbs too. I use 5watts in my home. Not the socalled 15watt "energysavers". Imstill looking for 3watts for my toilet and bath. No be just to see say i no piss for ground or carry another person sponge bath?

For me to have guaranteed light on my solar setup throughout the day, I need a 250-300w solar panel which is like 45-50k at Alaba market and 30A Charge Controller which is like 6-10k depending on source.

I use mine with 2 batteries, plus one solar panel n my generator has been rusty due to months of no usage. I did it for my kids sake....cuz they av series of cartoons dey don't wanna miss. Inverter is life, make God help me substain am.

Not too sure of the price, is based on the number of meters you buy, simple check Alaba for 16mm pv cable

Electric power P = IV where I = current and V= Voltage.

If you reduce the voltage, there is a corresponding rise in current to maintain same power.

Conversely, if you increase the voltage there is a corresponding drop in current; a principle that allows the use of small diameter wires to transmit voltages over vast distances with less drop in power.

How did this inverter circumvent this basic electric principle?

U need to understand that in this case the max current the inverter can supply is fixed, so if u reduce the voltage supplied by the inverter, the power supplied by the inverter will drop.

I use a battery charger for charging my battery and the cable I used for connection was recommended at a solar store.

You will have to check the power specification listed on your cctv... in addition to the total wattage load you carry on your inverter to see if the inverter can carry your load.

There are power specs on the back of your devices...

For instance your tv may have like 50w, decoder 15w, small fan 50w etc. you have to check the watt of the devices you want to power, then add them together. If your total load is not more than 200w, it can still be powered by a 500w inverter and if it is more and up to 400w it’s better to use a 1kva inverter.

Note: if you can afford it, it’s best to go for a pure sine wave inverter that can power medium to heavy appliances and equipments.

The cheaper inverters which are modified sine wave inverters can only safely power DC devices that use adapter that converts AC current to DC currents like laptops, decoders, all rechargeable devices etc. and light energy equipments like led tv, bulbs etc.

yes! Cos battery is 12volts (direct current), u need an inverter or a ups to boost it to 220v (alternating current).

It can be used but not advisable.

It will require a longer period of daylight/sunlight to charge up ur battery and couple with the fact that you will be using d battery too while charging, you may not get a full charge on ur battery by evening.

It depends on your location, many solar shops are opening up around now... you can also search on Jiji for closer stores or sellers around.

The normal iron we use can be used on a powerful inverter but the DC appliances can be powered with a battery i.e you connect to your battery directly.

I gave him 180k for batteries, he bought a product GBM battery (4pieces) each is 12V.

Since january, there has been no problem but i noticed from the inverter display that the battery does not charge beyond 60% with 4 large solar panels.

Secondly,it can no longer power my samsung TV of 90W rating.

I'm confused, i still have a 1yr warranty

this is an incomplete information? 4 batteries for 180k, what kind of batteries are they? Fairly used i guess, how can 4 panels charge 4 batteries and again whats d wattage of d panels?
