Hello Everyone,

Thanks so much for the great advice from all contributors to this forum.

I think someone should lend a voice to this unrealistic waiting period for a visa appointment. Please, what is the way forward to fasten this shameful challenge?

My resumption date is 1st of August and the appointment booking site is showing a waiting period of 14 - 16 months. I have never seen anything as frustrating as this. And to worsen the situation, the confirmation email clearly stated that one should refrain from inquiries in the meantime (a perfect synonym for I don't care).

Someone more experienced should kindly advice on a possible alternative instead of waiting a whole year for a visa appointment (Employer go don move on be that naa).

Guys Am showed last week Wednesday with request for traveling insurance and passport which was sent to the German consulate on that same Wednesday 24th of July and it was delivered there on the 25th July. 3rd of August was chosen as intended date of traveling but till this evening no news from the consulate. 8 days has gone and still no news. Is that normal with them to let one make plans and then fail to send out the documents on time? Anyone with similar experiences??

Check the email well, I think they must have asked you to provide the date of travel, given them at-least 7 days before your actual date. Is that right?

Hello Guys, I have a question. My wife applied for family reunion visa in February 2019. The lawyer visited her family for the verification in May. She didn't get any message from the embassy after that. Does anyone have an idea how long it will take from now on to complete the process?
I learnt that it takes long period recently. Thanks for you help!

It’s testimony time. Family reunion visa applied on 18.04.2019. Confirmation Lawyer showed on 16th May, Verification completed on 28th June. AM 24.07.19. Documents collected with visa on 02.08.19. The whole process took like 3 months and two weeks, for those waiting for theirs, I pray for positive answer for you guys. But you need to approach it with prayer and a little push here and there. If you have any question feel free to ask.

Congratulations! Have the embassy contacted your spouse in Germany before the visa was approved?

I noticed that the passport photograph has a specific requirement. is this taken seriously at the embassy? Where can I take the passport photo that suits the german embassy requirement. I don't want to take chances.
Is profiency in german language a very important criteria for a spouse applying for family re-union visa?

What does a little push here and there mean? Would love if you could share more light on this? Do you think sending mails would help hasten the process?

He was April 7th. I think the last days are lumped onto the next month. I know another friend who applied March 30 got his at the same as the one who applied in April.

In my own case for example, I got the verification complete email on the 28th June, and then on on 3rd I went to the foreign office without waiting for them to write me because I already knew the documents the usually ask, In some big cities this might not be possible without appointment. When I arrived there the couldn’t find her name on the system because it wasn’t registered yet. She opened one big files and searched for about 4mins and then brought out her file, it was there I realized that the embassy usually send all application forms after verification with passport photos as well to Germany with courier because every single document she submitted was there. She then did the verification for me on that 3rd July and told me that the reply would be emailed to the embassy Soon. I waited for another 2 weeks and without any news from the embassy, then I wrote the embassy on 17th in English and received no reply and then on 19th being Friday in German and the replied the next working day on 21st July saying that the are still waiting for the reply from the foreign office, After reading it I picked up the phone and called the honorable Lady in charge of her file and she said, it hasn’t been done yet but It would be done. Later on that same day in evening, I wrote her another email, explained how difficult it was to even get an appointment and how long we had to wait that she should pls try and hasten with the reply in a very polite way and thanked her as well. The next morning she replied me telling me that she has replied the embassy, that was on 23rd July and then I quickly wrote the embassy in German as well and quoted what the wrote me from foreign office. On Wednesday the 24th arrived the Approval email. I guess you now know what I meant with a little push here and there

Hello, everyone, please I need your help inform of advice and necessary information. I looking forward to my admission into MSc Sustainable development program at liepzig University in Germany. I have a BSc degree biochemistry (cgpa, 3.21) and an MBA, with 10 years of work experience in a public research institute here Nigeria. I am 36. I am married with 2 sons, ages 10 and 6, my wife (33 yrs) has HND computer science.

We all want to relocate to germany to work and study. We don't want to leave any one of us behind here in Nigeria. We have limited funds.

My main goal is to obtain my msc and PhD from German University. My wife wants a change of career to catering or nursing or pharmacy through the vocational training in Germany. We both want our boys to study at least up to university level in Germany.

My questions are:
What is the best way to achieve this? Is liepzig a good city to study, work and raise my kids? If not what are other options we have as a family?
With my qualifications and experiences, how quickly can I get a work to support my family?
What is the possibility of my wife working full-time while I study and work and vice-versa?

I will be be very grateful for any assistance anyone here can provide. Thank you.

With this kind of resume, I would have preferred you go through the Canadian express route. Based on my observation with both countries it will pay you better. If you can raise money for yourself now then relocate and your wife and kids join you later.
A masters in Germany is 2-3 years which to me is short term, after that what next? Relocating will mean starting life afresh, I hope that you are aware. What you can do are "survival jobs" e.g warehouse hand, cleaning etc if you do family reunion your wife can work full time. But if she is a student of course nether of you can. The money from 20hrs a week work is not really much, but enough to cover bills. Studying and working at the same time is can be a struggle because German education is intensive!
Why not try to get a PhD? I don't have a final say in this but if your life is not so bad, as in you have a guaranteed job in Nigeria, you may need to consider staying back. And maybe send your wife to test the waters first while you keep your job. As for training for nursing, pharmacy your wife would have to have near fluent command of the German language to be able to learn.
