Now, his wife wants him to forfeit his Nigerian passport to gain Thailand passport since they don’t allow dua citizenship. I adviced him to go ahead with the Thailand passport since this could be once in a lifetime opportunity because he was really contemplating on weather it’s a good idea or not.

Pls travel gurus and experts. What’s your take on this?
Is this move a good idea? Would it affect him in the future? Please advice from travel experts and experienced folks will be deeply appreciated

A Thailand passport adds more value to one than a Nigerian passport. But this isnt just about value. He is, first, a black man. He will be treated as a black man, irrespective of what passport he carries. If it was only about value, I would say, "go for the Thailand passport".
However, renouncing citizenship is a different thing entirely. He may need his Nigerian citizenship in the future. It depends on where he plans to be and how he sees his life in the next 30-50 years.
This is a Thai passport. Not a US or UK or Australian passport. He needs a lot of thinking to do. If he doesnt see himself in Nigeria in the long-term, then ditch the Nigerian passport. If he does, then just go for a residence permit.

Finally, he should not let the woman, or love or any other emotions think for him. His decision should be made on facts and logic. Else it will come to hunt him.

And if he really wants to, he can always get a Nigerian passport again. Just have old Naija ID or driver's license expired or not, and 30k for fees, with an extra 70k and a smile for "processing", so no big deal.
