Manchester City fans were left incensed after the first ever Premier League goal to be ruled out by VAR occurred during their season opener against West Ham, in a game which did not reflect too well for the new technology.

It was only the second Premier League game in which the new system came into play, having been used but not required during Liverpool's opening 4-1 victory against Norwich.

Here at the London Stadium however VAR took centre stage, playing a role in several key moments and gaining both fans and critics in equal measure.

I can't believe they gave that sterling goal as offside. EPL teams will start wearing tight jerseys now since VAR can catch 0.1mm thickness of jersey as offside. The element of humanity has left the game with the introduction of VAR.
