Good evening everyone

I'm really excited to be here. I registered on this forum mainly because of this thread. I've been an ardent guest viewer on this thread and a lot of comments here helped me in the pursuit of gaining admission into medical school. I'm glad to say that I GOT THERE. God did that.

In a few months, I'll be starting preclinical. I thought to myself that the least I can do is return the favor. So guys if you have any question on how to keep your head high while pushing hard to get into medical school, I'll love to give the best advice I can.
It gets hard I can assure you but with God and the right mindset, you'll find yourself there faster than you thought. Stay blessed.
I'm interested

Great I must say. However, everyone is really on their feet so as not to get caught. The semester is short and you have to be alert in order to meet up with the school calendar. The rule now is fail a course and you have to repeat the year( not 100% sure) but that's the news flying around. Truth is if you can stay focused, I don't think one need to worry so much about failing. God overall in the end though.

@Gbsks!

why do you want to change Sir?

@Lontra, I have a friend whose friend was his mate... they just resumed 300L Zoology at KSU!
The guy was admitted at Unillorin to study medicine and he left his zoology for it.. he was already in 200L second semester almost resuming 300 when the great call tapped him.. since it was what he pursued with his sweat and life and not only desired but longed to see it manifested, he treated his current program with insignificance compared to this call and he had to leave!!!

my counsel: if medicine is a calling or vocation that you are self convinced God has elected/chosen you to serve, then everything else is insignificant because purpose is not fulfilled in it!!!
So, medicine is a calling.. only those to whom it's given understands this.. those to who can't visualize themselves in something else in life oR while they live!!!
many could be obsessed with same passion as those to whom it has been given but the contrast is that purpose of living or of life is fulfilled for them and the pay is something secondary!

So, is medicine your purpose? are fulfilling life if you go there? if it is, nothing is too much to give up for purpose my friend.. mine is medicine, currently in zoology 100L, even if in 300 I'm being admitted, I'm giving it up cause all others are sundry and shadows of life for me!
I'm dropping it like a bad habit!

But look, I understand your plight and where the difficulty is stressed from.. when you asked "is it worth it"? the qualms is with mom and dad! after spending 2years of time and finance, leaving just like that to begin a fresh one without ending the former is to an extent exasperating!
Thing is, if your conviction holds it tight.. they'll see it right.. you make them understand things okay?
purpose is the most mattering matter in life.. it's not just entering school quick and bearing student" with your pointer as the university,. it's about purpose friend!
purpose is another thing next to life or having life not even hope! it comes before hope..
everything happening in our lives is/should be tied to purpose, then we can hope, hope to become better of our lives!
all of us are equal to not living or having lived outside/without purpose!

it's worth it all if it's your purpose and you are convinced.. friend!

I will take this advice. I am currently facing the same situation.

Good day doctors. I am studying a course at present but my passion is to study medicine. I applied for jamb this year despite doing the course. But my jamb score discouraged me and made me to change my course from medicine to dentistry in jamb. My question is that:

If I gained admission this year to study dentistry, should I accept the admission and then write another jamb next year for medicine?

Or if I gained admission this year, should I reject the course and continue with the course I am doing and at the same time write jamb next year?

But my parents will prefer it that I should accept dentistry this and leave the course because I am currently in a State University where school fee is expensive.

Please I need your pieces of advice. I am in a state of dilemma.

dentistry is a very good course
Go for it if you're given....

But I also heard that someone can cross to medicine at final year I don't know how true it's

Accept it if you are given but don't settle for it if your heart is somewhere else.

Accept it if you are given, half bread is better than none.

Never call dentistry half bread, dentistry is same as medicine, am a dental student the only thing is that dentistry are restricted to the head and neck, dentistry is the biggest speciality in medicine, that was why they even separated, like in UNN before creation of faculty of medical science if you want to study dentistry you will apply for medicine and then choose dentistry
