Stevenssen:

1. There are several schools that will offer you PGD or post graduate certificate related to Computer Science (depending on how high your 3rd class is too). Check Algonquin College, Lambton College, Conestoga College , Centennial College, Seneca College. If you are choosing a PGC, try to go for a 2 year program rather than a year program. Unfortunately, you cannot do an Msc with just a Bachelor's 3rd class in Canada.

2. If you can apply alone for the moment, it is better. That way you use your husband and kids as your home ties.

3. Courses related to Computer Science and your current job e.g. database development, I.T. Solutions, Web Development etc.

4. Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by USC but they can still join you later if you apply alone now.

Thanks for your inputs.

Thank you so much. I appreciate your response

Hello Mulberry,

The best program suitable to pursue will be a Graduate Diploma/Certificate that is related to your work experience which will be easier to convince the VO with genuine intentions of wanting to return to the academic classroom because of your years of practical activeness in such career field, irrespcetive of your previous studies in computer science which you have no practical work experience and the study gap in between might give rise to curious questions from the VO. Also, your age will not be a hindering factor for wanting to pursue a Graduate Diploma/Certificate as its a professional program.

To questions:

1. It depends on the course you want, as most schools offers different courses but related to your work experience. I think either one of the following course might be suitable; Human Resources Management, Cybersecurity Management, Accounting, Marketing, Global Management, Finance, Business Administrative etc for Graduate Diploma/Certificate.

You can check out schools like Memorial University, Conestoga College, McEwan University, Humble College, Fanshawe College.

Sometimes, your UG CGPA doesn't really count except for the last two (2) years, and writing a very constructive motivational letter or study focus/proposal in addition to your work experience etc can also earn you a Masters program with your UG CGPA but could be painstaking and tedious. A Graduate Diploma/Certificate is still the likely program.

2. This depends on your financial capacity and capability, and other available home ties (economic and social). If the kids are still young and there is the financial capacity to take them along, its best you do since your husband have no intention of moving any time soon. But there is no enough funds to cater for you all or to show to convince the VO of been financial sufficient, then apply alone.

Though moving with your kids is easy because they won't be needing a visa to Canada owing to their USC. So, you can apply alone and when its successful, you all can move together.

3 & 4 has been answered in 1& 2 respectively

All the best!

Good day to you all, I was rejected visa sometime around June, my school is supposed to resume Sept 3, I have requested for deferral but I haven't heard anything from the school yet (the course might not be available for January).

Is it advisable for me to reapply for visa with the same UCL considering the fact that school resumes in about 3 weeks time.

Honest advice please.

I would advise you not to apply for visa with your present admission, considering the stipulated time for visa processing by CIC and your uncertainty about the availability of your course for spring intake.

My suggestion is that you put a call to the admission office of your proposed institution.

Hi guys! Kudos to everyone for keeping up with the flow on this thread. I am actually an old follower and all the names seems new tho' except mccobex lol grin

Back to the main point, anyone coming to Western University or Fanshawe College this fall or winter 2020?
I will be finishing my program this summer and would like to give my room out to anyone who will be interested because I am leaving London to the GTA (2 rooms should be available but am sure of mine for now). The house is the cheapest so far in London Ontario considering the skyrocket increase in rent lately. The house is a 5 bedroom penthouse ( also known as Nigerian Villa grin cos for the past 6years, Nigerians living here has always been passing the house to other nigerians like am doing), the house is 3min walk to the bus stop, 6mins 1 bus ride to western and 10min ride to fanshawe college and also close to grocery stores, shoppers drug mart and restuarants. The room is spacious and located downstairs, you will have a bathroom to yourself and only get to share the kitchen and the common area with other tenants who are also Nigerians. The rent is only $300 per month, you have the freedom to everything as the landlord is a carefree type who doesnt come to disturb at all and also, you don't need to commit yourself into signing any long term lease because its month-to-month payment type which gives you a great opportunity to leave at anytime if you wish to.

The most important thing to keep.in mind when coming to Canada is to avoid going for too expensive houses even when you feel you have the money, the bills will still shake you grin, it is very easy to spend here but the inflow to replenish the spent money do appears to be very slow. In my own opinion, maximum of $550 per month is fine because you wont know the impact until you start paying and as we all know, no story at all when it comes to paying rents in Canada, you must pay your rent every 1st of a new month but when you go for less expensive houses, you will be able to safe more and work less to meet up with your bills, unless you are coming as married couples. I was indeed able to save more because of my low rent. Savings should be taken seriously as a student especially if your program doesnt permit you to do part time jobs due to the tight schedule, you will always have something to fall back at when you finish school and before you get a sustainable (menial) job because finding a professional job after graduation doesnt come immediately so you have to get prepared.

Anyone who is interested can PM me so as to talk to my landlord to reserve the room(s) for you. More TRV approval testimonies this week by his grace is my prayer for everyone. Merci kiss

Just some clarity in regards to the trending topic..

There are numerous international students in Canada working without the resumption of their classes or course work to meet up. This might be possible but also have consequences, in the sense that the dream of a PGWP and then a PR might be in jeopardy if working without an active studies when the school is not on unschedule break.

Its a fact that sometimes, checking if international students have defaulted or breaking immigration law of their study permit "might" pose difficult by IRCC especially if the employer of the int'l students pays salary by cash and not by an accountable means that reflects on government database, also if the int'l students works in short hours of duration. Aslo, on-campus work might also pose another difficulty for IRCC to keep track of int'l students that works more than the stipulated work hours of 20hrs per week or working without class resumption (if possible or maybe under some unprecedented situation).

However, working off-campus without class resumption comes with great risk which many int'l students are taken due to detoriorating situation in the course of studying to meet up. The risk is that some employers might not pay in cash, which means they follow a recognized mode of payment by the government, meaning the government can easily keep track of whether int'l students are violating their SP by working more hours or as the case may be.

The implication of working without the class or school resumption is like hanging the success of applying for a PGWP and PR on a thin worn out thread. Though, some int'l students have also be lucky with getting through this illegal act but it doesn't mean its appropriate.

The bottomline is: its not advisable to violate the laws guiding the SP, as working without class or school resumption is highly not advisable. It might seem smart and rewarding, but if caught, the implication will be costly and filled with many regrets.

Goodluck to all TRV hopefuls.

Simple Google search will help you with that. As for English requirement, most schools don't request for it from applicants from Nigeria.

2. What if you don't have kids or married? Will they reject your appliation?

I checked my cic page now, my long waiting eligibility review has started. But the amazing thing that is bothering me right now is the fact that they are reviewing the medical results that I submitted, I haven’t been called for any medical ooo, I submitted my application since June 18th and the first update is now and it’s coming with medical review that I haven’t been called for.
Please Gurus, what is the meaning of this one now,I’m I suppose to be afraid or what.

Hello guys, please help a newbie..

Good morning all and gurus in the house. I find this thread helpful and wish to be a beneficiary of the joy and counsel shared here.

Please I have applied to study Digital Marketing coop at Toronto School of Management with document submitted and the school has offered me admission awaiting my payment of tuition and signing of invoice contract. It's a one year programme for January 2020 intake.

But,

I have been footdragging due to some issues that bothers on certificate and others.

I applied with my NCE certificate because it was easy/fast to get the transcript. I graduated from college of education in 2002(secretarial studies edu). Also, I have BSc in Secretarial Studies (2.2) from UNIBEN but didn't declare it cos it might raise a red flag i.e the VO might question why Diploma course with Bsc certificate? Again, getting transcript from UNIBEN is costly and takes ages hence might delay the admission.

I graduated in 2006, served 2007 and have worked with various firms but resigned July last year and since then have been selling medical equipment and other items online.

I am married with 3kids. My wife is medical Doctor, schooled in Ukraine, had my first son there but currently working as a contract staff at one LCDA Health Centre here in Lagos(employment has been herculean). We tried IELTS but wasn't successful.

I intend to use my co-in-law as a co-sponsor.

Sorry for the plenty write up. I really need advice from the gurus here regarding my chances.

1. You can get admitted for a masters degree with that gpa.
2. No, you don't have to be married or have kids to get approved. But you will need a good home tie like a good job, properties etc.
