Sorry to digress a little. I have invested in Farmcrowdy and ThriveAgric over time. I agree on their low interest rate but on commission I beg to differ. Having received my cashouts, no deductibles so far.

On policy terms, in case of any negative outcome, your capital is preserved. I hope this helps.

sorry for the digression once again

Your position is quite wrong ....
Your capital is not preserved in case of any negative outcome ...
There is no regulatory oversight with Farmcrowdy and Thrive Agric etc ....
Even for Banks, NDIC is only required to pay N500,000.00 and N200,000.00 in the event of failure of Banks and MFI etc....
Lets be guided accordingly.

Insightful response as always. People fancy tbills mainly cos of capital preservation, and I'm sure if there is any offering to similar to it with a mild risk, people would diversify.

Digital farming is a thing now but the terms of sponsorship on Farmcrowdy was just a bit scary. They just match farmers to sponsors but I'm not sure of how well they hold the farmers accountable. I love the business model. Have you sponsored any farms successfully?

Diversification is the key in investment as long as you know the right places to invest.

Naija is a very diffilcult terrain to navigate....
From the collapse of finance coys in the 90s ...
To collapse of banks ...savannah, fortune, etc regulated by the Almighty CBN....
To the collapse of brokerage coys regulated by SEC ...
Investors are always at the losing end of most of these so called right places to invest...
Sincerely.... I cant see why Tbills will be at 11%... FGN Savings Bonds at 11%.... FGN Bond around 12% ....
And digital farmin is the next thing to place my hard earned money.... No CBN.. No SEC, No NDIC.. zero regulatory oversight.
Commercial papers of strong corporate bodies is still a far better option than all these digital farming outfits...
My 2 cents

The digital farming buzz is the new innovative and an emerging market one could pick interest on and understudy. Let's be positive about it and give it the benefits of doubt.
With time, the necessary regulations will come into play fully.

Bro, what are your strategies? Please share as I am tired of bad tenants

Your post didn't clarify how a court can get my money for me should such deviant tenant disappears. And Yes, talking out of experience, a bad one at that. Had to wake early to attend court hearings, paid exorbitant legal fee, and the idiot packed out his properties unknown to me ,cos i don't live in the house, one of the tenants living there called me to come as this guy was busy destroying anything good in the house (WC, meter board, kitchen cabinets, wardrobe ) . Was lucky to meet him at the exact time the truck he brought was about to leave, then the blood shed was so gruesome ,my compound was stained with blood. Since that bloody incident, i chose not to approach a court for such case, I've adopted my strategies, and it's working.
Please what are your strategies. I have deviant tenants too... pls respond..

One of my TB investments with FirstBank matured on the 10th of August, but I haven't been credited since then. Does it mean that matured Tbills aren't credited on weekend/public holidays? I thought it was supposed to be an automatic process...
hello have you been credited now? I'm also expecting to be credited first Bank too

No I haven't. I went to a Branch today to make a complaint and I was told that the investment has been terminated and the money has been released but it's not in my account yet. Weird stuff. They said they have to contact the Branch where I made the investment to have them release my money to me.

Dont mind them....
TBills are done on a platform linked with their Head Office ...
Its not a branch problem....
Send a mail to First Contact....
I am going to send my own complaint tomm....

Lies. Farmcrowdy, thrive agric and a few of them have insurance policy to take care of investors not loosing their capital. Stop broadcasting wrong information that u don't know anything about.
Just because u don't have money to invest in agritech businesses does not mean u should create panic and wrong impressions in people's minds.

Insurance policy is not regulatory compliance. Insurance policy is dependent on the insured paying their monthly or yearly premiums and not doing anything to violate the terms of the policy. In short, you're still at the mercy of Farmcrowdy and so on. The reason banks comply with FDIC is because it is a regulatory requirement enforceable by the government, insurance policy is a private transfer of risk, nothing more!

With respect to insurance for agric tech, except otherwise stated, it is highly likely that only a proportion of the capital will be returned if things go wrong.

Hence, it is better to clarify before making investments with them if your risk appetite is low.

I initiated conversation with another agric tech, farminvest. I asked about details of their insurance policies.

I even asked about the policy number for verification. The contact person quickly responded that the project is still pending completion.

Now there is nothing wrong in not wanting to divulge sensitive information, the key word is once again not to invest the amount you can't afford to lose.

I notice how they are quick to put the name of one Mr. faleke as the contact person at NAIC.

This itself appears suspicious to me.

If anyone has a trusted contact at naic, it will be better to seek more information about these agric tech and their insurance claims with naic.

We also need to find out the powers of NAIC under law

And lastly, there is a disclaimer that they (the company) will not be responsible for any shortfalls in expectations with respect to investments.

So if a farm yields lower than expected, they are not to be held liable for any loss arising from that.

Lessons from transberg still abound. Investors lost huge amounts of money when the company folded up less than one year of commencing business.

Meanwhile I have friend who invested with an agric tech and got his payment as at when due.

I'm not just willing to risk it all.

Why are you so worried about the 'side talks' and what evidence do you have to prove we are marketers or owners of the so called tech and agric stuff?

We have all derailed this thread in one way or the other, and somehow we have never lost focus on the core purpose of the thread. You as an individual talked about Bond and Canadian visa on this thread and no one called you out with funny names.

As per tech and agric stuff, a thread has already been created. You're free to hate on the current wave, but don't at any time hate information sharing, because you are a beneficiary of what people shared on this thread.

Capital is not preserved? So it is dangerous to have more than 500k savings at any point in time with any bank?

Pls, show me a post on this thread where anyone asked you to put a Kobo in any agric or tech stuff?

It is ridiculous to call posters discussing agric stuff marketers. Marketing what? Who asked you to buy?

lol. Dangerous is such a strong word. At the end of the day, everything we do involves calculated risk. Even with regulatory oversight, banks fail. Governments have failed to pay creditors(Greece).

Thank for the information.

Does this apply when you have accounts with different banks?

so the accounts are insured differently.
