The words of Jesus is the heartbeat and the taproot of the gospel.

Furthermore as believers in the TRUTH, the Holy Spirit should be important to our existence even more than the oxygen we breathe.
Jesus was empowered for his 3.5 years ministry after He was baptized and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in the form of a dove.
The believers in the upper room were not empowered to walk in the will of God until the day of the Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended on them.
Most def bro, it's very important for us to wait for the Holy Spirit as Jesus had instructed His followers for I believe that was crucial for them to succeed in the task that Jesus had saddled them with.

The extent of the importance of the Spirit of God to the church could be drawn from the insinuation of Jesus that the church needed the Spirit to come than Jesus remaining with them, hence the need for His departure from the Earth, for the church could not have both of them on Earth at the same time.

Thanks for sharing.

God bless.

p.s. Sorry I've not forgotten what you asked of me, for once I saw the images you gave to me, it seemed to overshadow that which I had of Jesus, so I need to be able to have that one fully back before I can genuinely compare the two. That's why I have not gone back to that thread to enable me separate the both. Thanks for understanding.

Per the bolded, no worries bro. I'll be waiting patiently. Meanwhile, read up on Akiane Kramarik and Culton Burpo. They both had separate incidents as little children and confirmed that same face to be that of Jesus... Thankfully, Akiane had the gift of painting...so she could paint what she saw.

Cheers and God bless

Are you sure he did not inherit the Holy Spirit at birth from his mother Mary, whom the Holy Ghost came upon?

Hi Buda, the Spirit in every man comes from God. That is what makes a man to be alive physically. Starting from Adam when God breathe into him.

As for Jesus, He was empowered for his 3.5 year ministry after that baptism.

You insist without considering. Hear the words of his well read mother as echoed from Hannah's Prayer.

If he was born of the Holy Spirit why would he only receive it when baptised? Was he not empowered from when he was in his mother's womb?

Look at what I said again. Jesus was empowered by the Holy Spirit "for His 3.5 year ministry" specifically.

You could point out what Jesus did prior to when He was baptized. I am not in doubt Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit prior to that. But for the purpose of that crucial 3.5 year ministry, that baptism (where the Holy Spirit descended on Him) was necessary for what was to come for the final 3.5 years of His life.

Now Buda, lemme ask... do you think Jesus would have accomplished what He did in the final 3.5 years of His life on earth without that baptism (where the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus) that happened?

So, it is not the case that he was being prepared before the baptism and the dove?

Did he not show he was filled with the Holy Spirit when he disputed with the learned in the temple, after which he continued to grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man?

I do not know what part the baptism played, specifically, but I do not think all his learning dropped on him like a dove at his baptism.

If he had not learned prior to the 3.5 years he likely would not have known what was written and would have fallen immediately he was tempted.

Yes He was.
But the question is, can we conclude at that point Jesus was already empowered for His 3.5 year ministry? Absolutely not.

Are you aware there are milestones in Spiritual growth? Just like physical growth?
With the Holy Spirit, one's development can never stop nor be stunted...provided the person continually obeys the Holy Spirit

Why, "absolutely not"?

He had a mother who was well read and whom the Lord sent angels too. Should we expect she would have taught him nothing and all his ministry came from a dove at his baptism?

Is this not what I'm arguing, as opposed to "instantaneous baptism, dove, gbam"?

That means the baptism and everything that happened on that fateful day at the river was insignificant and needless?

Oh, I get you now. don't bother replying my preceding post.

Yes, we are on the same page then. That baptism by the river and the dove descending was another milestone achieved. More or less the final one before His death. He was at the peak of His God given abilities thereafter... Everything that led up till then were more or less steps in the ladder of spiritual growth that took Him to that point...

No! I know you said dont but it most definitely had its significance, which we are trying to work out, to the glory of God.

"And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the LORD and with people.
(i.e. meaning, as Samuel grew older, the LORD was pleased with him, and so were the people)
"
- 1 Samuel 2:26

"And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men
(i.e. meaning, as Jesus became wise, and He grew strong. God was pleased with him and so were the people)

You already said you are not a servant of your father in another thread.
And we understand that you are a servant of who you choose to obey. So no need talking about obedience to me. You are not qualified for that.
jesusjnr:
Was Jesus a servant or a Son of His Father, despite that He served and obeyed Him?
If not, then I am not a servant of my Father despite that I served Him.
Go and read the parable of the prodigal son to get the difference between a son and a servant.
"The LORD says, "Here is my servant, whom I strengthen--the one I have chosen, with whom I am pleased. I have filled him with my Spirit, and he will bring justice to every nation."
- Isaiah 42:1

"Instead of this, of His own free will He gave up all He had, and took the nature of a servant. He became like a human being and appeared in human likeness"
- Philippians 2:7

"‘Now listen, Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who are sitting in front of you—indeed they are men who are a symbol, for behold, I am going to bring in My servant the Branch"
- Zechariah 3:8

"When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. (i.e. as a result of the anguish of His soul)
And because of His experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for He will bear all their sins.
"
- Isaiah 53:11

"Jesus told them,
"My food is to do what the one who sent me wants me to do and to finish the work he has given me.
"
- John 4:34

Funny enough ;

All is Jesus Word.

Smile....

I have no time to buttress...

One thing I know is that, "not all wisdom is in the books"

Thank you!

Dissemination of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit dwells only among a worthy generation, and the frequency of its manifestations is proportionate to the worthiness. There was no manifestation of it in the time of the Second Temple (Yoma 21b), while there were many during the time of Elijah (Tosef., Soṭah, xii. 5). According to Job xxviii. 25, the Holy Spirit rested upon the Prophets in varying degrees, some prophesying to the extent of one book only, and others filling two books (Lev. R. xv. 2). Nor did it rest upon them continually, but only for a time. The stages of development, the highest of which is the Holy Spirit, are as follows: zeal, integrity, purity, holiness, humility, fear of sin, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit conducts Elijah, who brings the dead to life (Yer. Shab. 3c, above, and parallel passage). The pious act through the Holy Spirit (Tan., Wayeḥi, 14); whoever teaches the Torah in public partakes of the Holy Spirit (Cant. R. i. 9, end; comp. Lev. R. xxxv. 7). When Phinehas sinned the Holy Spirit departed from him (Lev. R. xxxvii. 4; comp. Gen. R. xix. 6; Pesiḳ. 9a).
