Good morning house, on Wednesday I lend my Camry SE 2009 to a friend only for him to call me that the engine all of a sudden started making a rattling sound which I know is a lie, the rattling sound was louder that a generator sound I invited my mechanic over to check the engine and he said my friend drove the car roughly and has hit the engine on the floor which cause the whole engine oil to leak out. When my mechanic opened the engine he saw some grounded metals and he said there are two option which are if he work on the engine the rattling sound might stop if not I would have to buy a new engine after working on the engine and putting engine oil the rattling sound reduced so my mechanic said I would have to buy a new engine but I can be managing the car with the sound till I am ready for a new engine I asked him if he is sure about that and he said yes so I decided to test the car on the road but unfortunately the whole engine oil leaked out and the engine shut down and refused to start again I had to tow the car back home.

Please house I need on information if it's still possible to fix my current engine or may buy half engine and I also need help on idea of price for a new engine.

Thank you all for you helpful response in advance.

Don't bother working on the engine again, it's a complicated work and as it's aluminium the block would have been affected.

2az 4 cylinder for your car is 250 to 270k depending on accessories and how clean the engine is.

2GR 6 cylinder for your car shouldn't exceed 350k. Now is the time to buy cause exchange rate would sky rocket anytime soon.

Thank you so much, my mechanic said there are 3 types of engines for my car which cost are 200k, 230k and 270k. Please do you have an idea of the 3 different type of engines?

The Camry Asian 4 cylinder uses 2.0L engine not designed for yours.

The 2010 upwards has a 2.5L engine not for you

The hybrid engine too complete can't fit in your vehicle.

Your engine is 2.4L 2AZ engine. So when you go to market buy 2AZ engine there is 1AZ that those dealers sell cheaper but it is not for your car and would cause drivability issues.

if you don't know the engine let a qualified techy buy it for you.

Hi, I just got a 2005 Toyota Camry, no check engine light on, and all is in good working condition, however as an ex Honda user, I noticed that when driving the car in the morning or the engine is cold, there is a slight delay before the vehicle picks, like it doesn’t respond immediately when I depress the accelerator, it gives me like a “second” delay before moving fully, is this normal on Toyota Camry 4 cylinder engines or there’s an under looming fault waiting to Happen... i need an expert opinion

Hi. I'm a civil servant and planning to get a Nigerian used 2008 Toyota Yaris manual. Taking into consideration the maintenance and the fuel economy, would you guys advise me to go for the car. Remember that I'm a civil servant

I'm currently experiencing similar issue ⚠️ on my 2005 Toyota camry also. I noticed this yesterday, it wasn't like that before.

It's kind of sluggish now

Both are pretty much identical the easiest sure way is to look at engine name engraved on the block, the one tampered with will have a shaddy 2AZ engraved on the block.

The thermostat housing is different too, the 2az seems to protrude more outwardly than the 1az but basically only a qualified techy who has seen both physically can determine the difference.

the only thing is the engine has 1AZ or 2 AZ engraved, for the 1AZ to be used to fool you, the engravement will be tampered with or scratched off.

Oga you don't have a problem.. Go and enjoy your new car.. That's how it's designed to work.. Seems to me this is your first car or do you have an experience contrary to this mode of operation ?

prosper427:
I have scanned the car severally no code was found. What I discovered lately was that the gear shift from 1-2 usually happen when the speedometer Needle is at 25km and rpm at 3000.

Now if I get my foot off the gas pedal slitely, the shift from 1-2 happens earlier than 25km and 2400rpm this was how the car was delivered to me it was a guy who drove it from Lagos to me so I do not know if that was how the car came in to Nigeria or it happened on his way from Lagos. So pls do you know what is wrong or is this common with Camrys or could it be that the ECU was programmed to work that way.

Happy weekend to my fellow Toyota Users, sometime ago I posted about how a friend knocked my engine and I had to change the engine.

I wanted to buy another engine but was scared of being scammed at Ladipo or by roadside mechanics.

All thanks to GAZZUZZ who posted 2AZ engines for sale with free installation, I jumped on it as fast as I can and got my car towed by AA Rescue from my house in Ajah to GAZZUZZ workshop.

In less than 4 hours I got my engine replaced, my car came back to life, faster, sharper and swifter than before.

All thanks to Gazzuzz.

I recommend him anyday anytime.

Depending on year models,

the first gen Tacoma 95-04 had 2RZ-FE a 4 cylinder with 142 hp/217N.M torque, and 2.7 L 3RZ-FE 4 cylinder with 150hp/240N.M torque
Of course, the parts are cheaper than those in 2nd gen and 3rd gen cos its older.

The second generation Tacoma 05-15, had 2.7 L 2TR-FE 4cylinder with 159 hp/244N.M torque. This is more powerful and bigger and more comfortable.

The third gen Tacoma 16-date still used the 2.7 L 2TR-FE 4 cylinder 159 hp/244N.M torque.
Basically same with 2nd gen.

The choice is yours now.

Good day all...
I have 2 problems with my 1997 Camry LE auto tranny,

1. When I leave the car under the hot sun with Windows all shut say like 2hrs, the screen that displays mileage upon starting the engine goes blank! Now when this happens, gear shifts (gear 1-2) becomes difficult/sluggish even at high rpm.
This also happens when I use my full light, the display also goes blank after 15mins of using full light.

The only way the gear shift goes back to normal and the mileage display return is when it cools down or I turn on the A/C for like 15-20mins max while driving... thereby cooling the dash area.
Why

2. My timing belt is always snapping...I have used 4 this year!!!
Why
I have used so many brands from so many markets with divers kind of packaging/writ ups on them.

I have used the car for 6yrs+ with no major issues,
Still does Abuja-Owerri till recently,
...help a brother please
