Any reason you cant call UK home or have they denied you a stay once you’re done with school? Is it not true you’ve applied to schools in Estonia and Canada and failed to get in? Who’s deceiving who?

You mean the Estonia I rejected? I've got a first class honours in Software Engineering from a British University and I can't get denied admission anywhere. I even got Estonia and the rest before I completed my dissertation. You're a nuisance.

I shouldn't be responding to you.

Keep encouraging toxicity. There are lots of non-toxic people here with way more meaningful contributions and the right mindset.

I think anyone with any shred of common sense can tell the toxicity was solely from you. I stated facts, you didn’t like them so you resorted to base insults and empty boasts.

Absolutely yes. I never would have left to be honest. I loved living in Nigeria, it was fun. But that’s really where it ends. The problem with Nigeria isn’t so much the corruption, lawlessness and mediocrity, it’s the fact that the people accept it as a way of life, have no interest in changing and insult you for demanding better... all while wasting everyone’s time at holyghost conventions of course.

You're quite shallow. The only reason I mentioned my qualification was because you insinuated I couldn't get admitted into an MSc programme.

This back and forth argument is getting stale and unnecessary. While you might like dragging irrelevant issues, remember we're derailing from the purpose of this thread.

Act your age.

You’re simply projecting. Shallow? Lol you started talking of having a first class and that you can’t be rejected anywhere as if that was some sort of achievement. I mentioned that to let you know you’re simply a dime a dozen. You didn’t seem to be interested in the purpose of the thread previously... take your own advice brother. grin

My job is often to make sure that rabble rousers like you don’t think you’re anything special, just because you have a deep repertoire of cheap vitriol. Take a seat please.

Interview 22/8
Denied 29/7
Visa approved on 22/8
Visa issued on 23/8.

Deferred admission to Spring 2020 cause at the time of reapplication, there wasn’t a date in August.
No standardized test(school/course didn’t require one) or English proficiency (was waived by the school) exams taken
Window 10, Abuja US Embassy

V.o : Good morning
Me: good morning

Vo: so what’s the purpose of your trip
Me: going for my MPA at UIS(in full though)

Vo: oh forgive me, I have your i20 I dunno why I asked
Me: smiles*, that’s okay

Vo: I see your resumption is in January
Me: Yes (I wanted to explain why I had to defer and reschedule to this month but I didn’t)

Vo: so what’s your highest degree
Me: A B.L (Barrister at Law)

Vo: when was it obtained and where
Me: told him.

Vo: so how many school did you apply to
Me: 3

Vo: how many admits
Me: 2

Vo: which
Me: UIS and AU

Vo: so why this school
Me: Well My 3 top reasons for picking UIS over AU, one, the school is situate at the state capital which is the hub of policy making for the state of Illinois, which brings me to my second reason, there is a program called the Illinois legislative staff internship program which would allow me...(cuts in)

Vo: smiles* I think I understand already. So tell me, you’ve read law, why MPA now?
Me: uhmm, from my undergraduate studies till now that I am in practice, I have come to realize that it is not just enough to make or interpret laws/policies, one major problem of this process is implementation! legal skills alone are barely adequate to help solve such contemporary problem. They are so many laws/policies that are being made everyday but never implemented, for example, the national minimum wage Act which was passed into law months ago, is yet to be implemented.
(I paused to be sure he was paying me attention)

Vo: (looks at me and signaled that I carry on)
Me: A degree in MPA would help me conceptualize and interpret both existing and future laws as well as it’s implementation in accordance to risk and uncertainty. Also to help examine to what extent in devising and executing a policy affects the overall shape and impact of such policy on the categories of persons it is made for or the citizens as a whole. This is important because at the end of my program I’d like to work with the National Institute of Legislative studies, an organ of the NA, they provide the same service that the Congressional research service provides the US Congress and ...(cuts in)

Vo: smiles* I think that’s fine. How many siblings do you have? What does your older sibling do?
Me: I have 2 sisters and I am actually the first

Vo: Okay, so where does your dad work? He is sponsoring you, right?
Me: No, he is not. My uncle is.

Vo: what does he do?
Me: he is a legal practitioner and also a SAN(in full)
Vo: where does he live?
Me: ***Abuja

Vo: Okay, can I see his bank statement?
Me: yes, sure (hands it over)

Vo: (types for 5mins or less) so I’ll be giving you a conditional approval, this is because we need to verify the authenticity of the bank statement. If it is found to be fraudulent, you’d be banned from the US for life. Do you want me to go ahead?
Me: yes sure.
Vo: (hands me the white paper and a white slip) congratulations....I can’t remember exactly what he said after that.

Thank you to everyone who contributes to the platform by dropping their transcripts, helping to answer questions, to help others with proposed transcripts, encouraging others etc, God bless you.
Sharwama, LagosismyHome, Time2win, Brown2Green I remember these names because I always look forward to reading their inputs and very detailed responses. God bless you all. God did it!

Really happy about this.

Him and his patriotic wife want the immigration laws tightened; which includes making it hard for people coming in to study.

Yet he's on this thread "contributing" and "helping" prospective students/applicants get their visa applications approved. What kind of hypocrisy is that? You can see he's a confused nuisance that keeps contradicting himself.

He's happy to vote for stricter immigration laws... the same law that made him a citizen?

He's advising others to stay back and fix Nigeria, but he took off and is currently chilling in America?

If the American government had his mindset, would be be opportune to be at his current location?

If you're still supporting someone with such controversial and questionable character, you need to re-evaluate your reasoning. This guy is literally a scumbag.

Yes bro. I understand. Hes an hypocrite if he cannot come back to Nigeria and fix these things because hes a product of the same society. He ran away, got married to one of them and now claims to be one of them. Even if he bleaches, he can't be like them.

Just close the chapter and move on Bro.

Have you sent the embassy an email? Looks like you might need to defer. You should let your department and international office (Patricia and co) know what's going on.

In as much as I find your views refreshing from the norm, you don't practice what you preach. You want students to stay back and study here, why didn't you? What makes you think they cannot contribute to the American society as much or even more than you've done considering you are not American by birth or parentage. I agree some people do not have the best intentions for wanting to travel and should be banned if possible, but you could have been at the forefront of this change you propagate but yet you sought refuge elsewhere. Before you accuse me of feeling entitled, I am neither an aspiring student or economically unfortunate and never been refused a Visa as an adult and like you I believe it's the prerogative of a country to give or refuse Visa to anyone. However, you share a kinship with those looking to leave because you misused your Visa and misrepresented yourself during your interview and kudos for legalizing your stay but you ain't no different.

Bless up for pointing out the bolded. He's not only a hypocrite, but a nuisance and liar. I'm sure he told the V.O how he would return back and use his acquired knowledge and skills to develop his home country, but now he's American. He contributed his own quota to the reasons why V.Os deny applicants because they'd rather settle down after study instead of returning home.

Same old false allegations. Rinse repeat. How do you misuse a work visa? There are perfectly legal means of emigrating to any country you wish. In many ways than one, I have actively encouraged, and continue to encourage those who are legitimate to do so. The Canada process is one example. What I will continue to push back on is the sheer number of those who we all know have no interest in using the process honestly misuse their visas and then hide behind the fig leaf of “you too misused your visa” to continue to make the rest of us look guilty by association.

It continues to befuddle me why no one is bothered by how many of our fellow citizens make it so hard to legitimately obtain a visa. You can rail all you want, the truth is things are harder for Nigerians today, not because of me or my wife’s voting preferences, but because of you who continue to enable the frauds among us. You all know them, good luck continuing to look the other way.

Selfish how? Are you currently not living in a country? Why do you think Americans don’t have a right to decide who enters their borders? 80 of you were indicted for crimes just yesterday... speaking of selfishness.

Must every other Nigerian pay for the sins of the 80, are you not a Nigerian by origin? Even if you have renounced Nigerian citizenship, I still think it’s bad for you to come here and paint your compatriots like this.
Remember just like many here you once hustled for American visa to get out, so bashing Nigerians now make it look like you did not originate from here. The change even start from you bro. My one cent.

Whether you like it or not, we are all paying. Years ago, I tried to renew my Nigerian passport here in the US, all banks shut down my credit and debit cards the minute I tried to use them to pay the fee. I had to drive an hour to do it manually.

You can deny it all you want, we all pay and it’s high time we pushed back.
