I’m not sure some people here know the meaning of connection in relation to getting a job as high as NNPC.

I can say it authoritatively that NNPC doesn’t go about sharing slot to people. Those that will get slot will be as a result of lobbying and political favors. Anyone that will get in through the back door is through high political connection.

Those who will enter through the back door wont pay a penny to anyone, I am 90% sure of that.

I have given up on advising people to stop spreading that negative thinking.

That was how my colleague's brother was ranting that DPR was not recruiting on merit, that the interview was just a formality, that he was asked the name of the senator representing his district (as if many others were not asked current affairs) blablabla.

The guy got the job eventually and could not eat his words after blackmailing DPR.

Someone I brought to Lagos - a brilliant guy but not so exposed then - that stayed with me while doing NYSC, that I was the one that shared interview tips with right in my sitting room, got NNPC job in 2012. He didn't know anybody. Although he didn't take it (on my advice too).

These are few examples of people that dont know anybody in NNPC or DPR.

Look, we can't deny that people get into these places by connection, but I have seen enough reason to believe that up to 70% is based on merit. I don't care if people don't agree but I can confidently say it anywhere. I even mentioned it in a book I wrote in 2014.

Firstly, my apologies for discussing something other than nnpc recruitment here.
I recently attended a job interview based on referral (the job was not advertised). Towards the end of the interview, as usual, I was given an opportunity to ask some questions. I decided to ask that they give me an overview of the job responsibilities. That question did not go down well with one of the panelists. To him, it was an indication that I came to the interview without knowing the responsibilities of the role. Although I tried to make him see reason that since the job was not advertised, I couldn't have had the opportunity to go through the job description, he still didn't seem pleased with the explanation.
Please, I would like to have your opinions on whether my question was fundamentally wrong the way the man tried to make it look. Until that very moment, I was of the opinion that an interview is meant to be an opportunity for the interviewers to get to know the candidates better just as it is for the candidate to get to know more about the job and the organization.
Uncle Jarus and others with experience on interview coaching and recruitment should please give local man their opinion as he is presently confused.

P. S the only prior information I had with regard the interview was that they were looking for people of a particular profession say accountants, economists or mathematicians which I fit in, hence my invitation to participate in the recruitment.

It is a panel... Only him/her can't decide your success.
Meanwhile you should have gone ahead to list some of the role functions and tell him you just want to be specific on what will be expected of you in that company. And yes, if your referral is strong.... U will be considered.

The panelist probably has his own candidate too, hence his resolve to highlight the anomaly in your question to convince the others to rate you lower. Nonetheless, if other panelists know what they are doing, they'll consider your overall performance and not just your question. My 2 cents

I want to say something.. Yea today is Saturday I have little time to spare.

This recruitment is more of merit,NNPC has spent millions in this and it cannot be for nothing. If left alone it will be purely on merit, but based on political powers that be there will be few people who will enter based on pure connection and trust me they won't exceed 100 to 150 persons in this dispensation.

If you have anyone that paid 1m for this recruitment you can as well tell the person to kiss that money goodbye, if connection wan sup na for relative and nothing more, i repeat very few will get in on connection..I am saying this cos alot of top men in NNPC cannot even influence outcome, they can only give you hope. Connection in this will be most likely political, people who has influence on the presidency not just anyhow politician.

That aside, I wish to tell everyone that as long as NNPC may seem like breakthrough for all it is not all there is to life, trust me i need this like kilode but if I do not get it what then happens?.... Life goes on mehn, in years to come most of us will find ourselves in places more than NNPC, more than we ever expected in life. So long you are steadfast and consistent, baba God go pick your call one day and it will surprise you.

Let us pray that the will of God be done and let us be favored beyond measures.

You do realize that there was a recruitment in 2014 that was truncated after there was a change in the seat of power right? What would you say happened to the budgeted funds released for that recruitment. Baba, as long as you do not know the criteria used in selection and distributing APL you cannot assert that it is based on Merit. I want you to know that. If you want to know what a transparent process is, CBT scores would have been sent to you, cut off would be known. The list that is ready would be visible. In that way, when names are swapped people will know. But all these are unknown. If they swapped like 700 names from the list you wouldn't know sh!t. Even people that have connect will be telling you to pray. What does that tell you? That a lot is going on beyond what they can see and/or control.

At the end, like i always believe, whoever's destiny is designed to work at NNPC would.

My guess as well. But nothing do the guy he is already graded except all the members of the panel are biased.

They have not signed anything from my source. The person said that they have the list already and the list is not the final. It will be adjusted to suit the new management interest. APL might drop by middle of September and GT will be to 3 months training school.
He is not a kind of person i can ask to check my name for me, he believes in merit. I heard from another person that some staff are helping candidates to check their names.

So how many months training for EH then or they don't go on training?

Guy you are absolutely right ,Nig Army ,Air force and Navy always have their list on their web All states from that you can know how many are you in your state .But these one is just hidden only God will help us tru .
