I am sorry about that bro, the reason is not about the resumption date. It started when she asked you about the change from pharmacology to oncology.

Pharmacology and oncology are two different medical field. You later nailed yourself with your work experience. Your work experience have not nothing to do with oncology.

So, she technically wanted to know what makes you to want to move from pharmacology to oncology.
She did not ask why I was changing from Pharmacology to Oncology. She only noted that I am going for Oncology, and I nodded yes in affirmation. Also, there's really no problem in furthering in Cancer research as a Pharmacologist because Antineoplastic drugs and Cancer is a part of Pharmacology. In fact in schools like Duke University, we have the PhD program as Pharmacology and Cancer Biology.

Thank you for your input.

Sorry, that blonde white lady in window 4 is very good at denial. She's in her mid 30's I think. She denied me on 27th.

She might have denied you on how you actually responded to those questions especially on your Job experience, what the degree would do for you and the difference between your deficit and SOA. Not forgetting your physical countenance and demeanor.
Thank you. Yh, I noticed she denied like 3 people when I was there, and then would give that fake sad look. Although she approved the VISA of an aged couple before me going for a conference, they have always been going for the conference. She didn't ask of my SOA. And although I stuttered a bit, I think I was quite confident and the interview was going well until she rejected me.

I don't think you were denied because of late resumption, the V.O never even mentioned this. And if your transcript is as you wrote it, I think you did well. I am no expert at this but I'll say you should get an extension letter from your school and fire again, or just postpone till Spring if that is allowed.
Thank you. I will defer to Spring.

I don't think it has anything to do with the change. An admission committee consisting of seasoned Professors already went through his files n found it worthy of an assistantship; nothing else matters.

Sorry @charliejose, try to defer...I don't know why I am just pissed at your denial. The only thing I see is that the VO is not seeing a progression in your career. Going from pharma, to marketing to oncology doesn't look tidy but I can relate, we just have to take the job that come out way sometimes.

VISA denied on the 29th of August.
Lagos Consulate
VO: Window 4 (a blonde white woman in her early thirties)

My transcript went like this.

VO: Come along sir. Good morning, sir
Me: Good morning.
VO: Your passport, please... And also your I-20.
VO: I can see you are going to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and you are going for a Biotechnology program.
Me: Yes
VO: Why do you want to school in the US.
Me: The US boast of best, groundbreaking researches that are unmatched anywhere else in the world, especially in the area of Biomedical sciences, specifically in Cancer biology. Therefore, since I intend having a career as a research scientist in this field, I believe going to the United States for a masters program in Biotechnology is the best decision to make.
VO: Are you a graduate?
Me: Yes.
VO: Oh, what did you study?
Me: Pharmacology from the University of Lagos.
VO: oh so, you are a graduate of Pharmacology and want to go into Oncology?
Me: Yes.
VO: You do not have a working experience.
Me: I do. I have a year work experience during my NYSC that I completed in March this year, where I worked in a Pharmaceutical company as a Marketing Executive. My roles involved assisting the product managers in the management of the sales team.
VO: okay - though she didn't seem impressed - so, what have you been doing since then?
Me: I have been preparing for my graduate studies.
VO: So, what will this course do for you?
Me: I intend going for a phD degree, but currently don't have adequate research experience to enable me or qualify me to go for a phD program. Having a Master degree in this course will provide me the adequate experience and equip me towards a phD degree. Also, I am particularly interested in this program because aside being awarded a graduate assistantship, tuition scholarships and tuition remission, the school has a rich history in conducting intensive research in lung diseases like lung cancer. The school is even known as the East Texas Chest Center because of the high research activity in lung diseases (I began to stutter here, and apologized. She asked me to take my time and continue that she is trying to type in everything I was saying) These researches align with my interest. Also the school actively encourages students planning to further their studies by providing opportunities to publish their researches in Top science journals.
VO: I can see you have an assistantship of 12000 dollars, who is paying for the rest?
Me: My maternal uncle.
VO: What does he do?
Me: He is a successful business man that's into importation and sales of cars.
VO: Have you traveled out of the country before?
Me: I have not had the reason until now.
VO: Alright. I am sorry, I will not be approving your VISA, this paper will explain why (with a fake sad face undecided)
I wish you the best.

Although my school already resumed on the 19th and classes started this Monday - this was the first thing the man at the passport verification point noted. However the VO never made mention of it during the interview. I was certain I was denied because of the late resumption. But is it possible the VO didn't even notice it and denied me for another reason?

Well if you can avoid sponsors that deals with importation of cars, Please do. I sensed it's one of the things that delayed me alot too. other people has shared nice suggestions, let me not repeat them. Also if you are given MSc, talk about MSc and don't link PhD to it since you don't have adequate funding for PhD.

Note :
(1) You shouldn't have stated you worked as a marketing executive when you studied pharmacology and you even had the opportunity to work in a Pharmaceutical company. *Incoherent line of profession *
(2) Based on personal experience, I think VOs prefers that there should be no time whereby you have no job at hand especially as a graduate, even if it's the least of a teaching job. *preparing for your graduate studies since March doesn't seems to ace it. Of course, so many people here processed their admission, did exams while still working. Personally, I will say that was my own saving grace during my interview cos since I graduated I've always kept myself busy and I will say that was the hardest question in my interview.

(3) I will say going for your PhD after MSc rang a bell of probably staying back in the US after your MSc.

(4) please kindly find another well reckoned profession to always accord your sponsors.

OVERALL, YOU DID WELL.

Hello everyone,

Please I would like to know the kind of jobs an F2 visa holder can work in the US?

For e.g a PhD student takes his wife to the US alongside, what kind of jobs can she do to support him? And can she change her visa status should she find an employer willing to employ her?

Please I want to know. Is GRE scores always sent from the exam center directly to the school of interest.
Or do I have to input the score myself during my application
Every school has a code, so the exam body will send it directly to the school you're applying to.

Hi bro, sorry for your denial. Your transcript was great but where I sensed problem was when you mentioned PhD, I think she screamed intended immigrant in her mind. Next time you go, focus on msc, do not mention your future study plans.
I think you should write to your school for a defer.

RECOMMMENDATIONS:
1. Never underestimate God's grace in this process, Pray like you never prepared and prepare like you never prayed
2. Ask Questions from people that have crossed the path no matter how stupid they might sound (with regards to this, please feel free to ask me your questions)
3. Prepare very well and early enough; give the GRE, TOEFL or any other relevant exams, secure funding no matter how small (Applying early to schools with good GRE scores increases funding opportunities)
4. Stay Focused and DON'T BE DISCOURAGED (I was discouraged by some persons because I had a US bank Statement and was once denied a B1 Visa to attend a conference)
5. During the Interview; Be confident and honest (In addition to your answers, VOs lay emphasis on you demeanour too)...prepare well!

.....Special thanks to @fairheart and to everyone for ur contributions I learnt from them
I have been a silent follower, I'll try to be more active and contribute when necessary

Thanks for your response madam. She was given 50 percent scholarship which the remaining is still much. Applying to many schools is not the problem but we want to be sure of 3 or 4 that gives full scholarship. Her high school GP is 4.0.
