clearing deadwood without replacement is almost the same as trouble. Nothing is bad having Tuanzebe and smalling as replacement for our constant two central back. During Ferguson, we have over six central back, Vidic and Ferdinand were the mainstays while Evans O'Shea, Smalling and Jones were backup players

Even with these players, there was still a time in injury forced SAF to use Carrick in CD

I'm happy to take the humble pie on Daniel James. That's a fantastic goal. He didnt look like he had to quality of a high level player but he's done brilliantly so far.

The sale of Smalling is as bad as the sale of Fletcher who can easily be used as back up.

Throughout the transfer window, I did not lament but during our first match , it was so obvious that will could not string passes together or even penetrate the opposition apart from counter.

We badly need Midfield players and sales of injury prone players like Rojo, Jones and Baily not sale of ever reliable Smalling

Just before your post, it was said Smalling is leaving because he was not guaranteed regular football. So I guess Jones, Bailly and Rojo agreed to be back up just like Fletcher, Oshea and Evans. Even at some point, Giggs was a back up player.

Daniel James has already matched Alexis Sanchez' league goal tally for Manchester United.
