TVSA:"when men have well drunk" is different from "when men are drunk". You're the one battling with English here. Let me ask you, what's the past participle of drink? |

Jutnow:Shut up, does that sound like modern English to you? What's the original Greek word translated as "drunk" in that passage? You'll just put your mouth in what you have zero knowledge about. Original Word: μεθύω Transliteration: methuó Phonetic Spelling: (meth-oo'-o) Definition: to be drunken Usage: I am intoxicated with wine, am drunk. That's the original language. Now tell me if the place is talking about past participle of drink

alBHAGDADI:This ur theory would imply that God expressly told Israelites not to drink alcoholic wine in the old testament. There is no evidence to prove this though. Conversely, there's ample evidence to prove wine being drunk in those times were alcoholic. A look at Jeremiah and the Rechabites is another prime example. Even till now, most wine produced in the Mediterranean are alcoholic. If you've seen wine from Israel, you'll know. The express command on drunkenness is found in the NY only |

OP, Alcohol is not our problem in Christianity. Our problems are supposed christians who steal/loot our monies. Our problems are christians who pursue prosperity by cheating and cutting corners to become rich. Our problems in christianity are all the fake prophets/pastors and their fake miracles who portray our religion in bad light. Our probllems are christians who rig elections, buy votes and install wicked leaders upon us. ------------ OP, please focus on how to solve above problems and leave those who drink alcohol in moderation alone. |

Mark 7:1-23 NIV 1.The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus and 2.saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. 3.(The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. 4.When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles. ) 5.So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, “Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?” 6.He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 7.They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ 8.You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.” 9.And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! 10.For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ 11.But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)— 12.then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. 13.Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.” 14.Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15.Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” 17.After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18.“Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19.For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.) 20.He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21.For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22.greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23.All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” Then having read this. Meaning everything God created he created well... And nothing You eat nor drink is sinful... If you say Drinking a content high in alcohol is Sin, then let tell you this that one of the most and wonderful creation of God is the "Palm tree" rich in everything and nothing waste of the tree... And out of the Palm tree comes the nature wine called "Palm Wine" and God never forbid us not to take nor drink of it.... And you know "Palm Wine" is highly rich in Alcohol... But in everything Normality is what makes us followers of Christ.... Now how many of you know that nearly 70% of the medication you take to cure yourself is enriched with Alcohol and Cocaine content? E.g Paracetamol, Coughline, Peretine, etc... My Advice for the poster is you need to separate tradition away from religion.... |

alBHAGDADI:Are you dumb? Where did you see me make it a context of alcohol. I am talking about the entire chapter which is Solomon's advice against gluttony, drunkenness etc which is not law of God or Jesus. If Drunkenness means to anyone that Christians should avoid wine then gluttony should also mean Christians should avoid food which is carried in verse 2 of that chapter. Comprehension is a major problem these days, ish! |

alBHAGDADI:The proverb is a word of wisdom from Solomon so, it like an advice, now a law, and getting drunk is not a sin, but it leads to sin that is why. I dnt drink nor tasted it except palm wine, even kunu has alcohol in it. There is a verses u miss to mention that wine should be given to the person in pain so he forgets his pain, I don't wish a friend or brother to be a drunker, I hate it but, ur though on calling it a sin is some how, even holy communion we have in church is alcohol wine. |

alBHAGDADI:You should be careful in how you twist the Bible. Do not carry your fanatical tendency to the public. The race for heaven is personal. You arent For and the Bible was written long before you were born and so you have no single authority to translate or correct or assert any opinion contained within. Your only duty is to read, understand according the spirit and live it. You claimed you knew the Greek words and all that were translated but never mentions any of the and as well post a screenshot of it. That is to day that tour assert is fallacious and misleading. You talk of fruit juice and I wonder exactly where alcohol is obtained. It is an organic or inorganic chemical? For your information ethyl(alcohol) is the only edible alcohol and is sourced from grains, that is plants. So the fruit juice you are talking about are even the sources of alcohol. you didn't mention whether the so called fruit juice are fermented to form alcohol or not. Some of us Christians have a lot to learn to avoid being gullible. Do not hesistate to read Deut 4: 2. And Proverb 30 : 6 Mind you I am a Christian too, just came back from church. |

alBHAGDADI:Only you quoting Proverbs 23.31 'we shouldn't look at alcohol. Then you come to Deuteronomy 14.26 and say we can bring strong drinks to God. That's we have to set our eyes on the alcohol now shey? Guy please stop. Just go and be good follow Christ leave all this distractions. |
