Mandeyy:
Why must you be going through people's profiles to confirm who is a medical doctor or a medical student? It's not good; stop it. Everybody has the liberty to air his or her views. Stop assuming unnecessary airs. A person might even be a medical student or doctor without his or her profile or posts giving any clue about it. How some people like you judge others is mind-boggling.
That's the essence of a forum...to run checks. At times when you read some posts, who will keep wondering who exactly composed them. A quick run through their previous posts will tell you how to handle them, whether to just ignore and if you need to reply, how to.
It's a usual background check method, even in recruitments today. Organizations run through applicants' social media contents and all to have an inkling as to their orientation.
So, I didn't check through to know who was a doc or not. I checked through to see the contents of their previous posts and got to know more. Should I have ignored posts stating that the concerned persons are not in positions to discuss med, not to talk of ranking? Certain subject matters are better understood by being in the system. Nothing like judgement here, just mere checks.
You, for example. Review the first 2 pages of your previous posts here on nairaland and ask yourself questions.
Your posts show someone who argues a lot, even when there are no need to. They show someone who insult people at every slight opportunity. Lots of tribalistic and religiously corrosive posts there too.
I didn't owe you any explanations but I needed to point out the reasons for running through some selected people's activities which is contrary to how you portrayed it. You can run through mine too. Lolll
Your reaction to this post will be predictable tho but I'm not here to exchange words, remember my post you quoted didn't even quote anyone

Modified: I went through the profiles(previous posts/topics) of some indicted posters,
most of them are confirmed not to even be medical students or doctors. Very funny.
See what you said that made me say what I said. Now, in your reply to my comment that you shouldn't be checking people's profiles, you said that you didn't do that so as to know who is a medical doctor or a medical student. But these are your exact words that "most of them are confirmed not to even be medical students or doctors". In your reply, you also said that I argue a lot, but it's people like you that make me do that. Actions and reactions are equal and opposite. Why not check what those people said that made me react to them the way I did? Why not check the tribalistic comments of those people that made me react the way I did? Why not check the lies the optometry guy was dishing out about dentistry that made me argue with him? And so many people argued with him too. That optometry guy has formed the habit of doing that. He's well known by everyone even medical doctors as always saying things the way they are not. The first time I encountered him was when he argued with medical doctors on this Nairaland (but not on this thread). Even when they corrected him, he was still hell-bent on what he was saying. Since your job is to check people's profiles, check his posts and comments too.

For your information, I'm a medical student. I used to be a dental student before I changed to medicine. ISIS is very popular here. He knows that I was a dental student before. And that's why I told you earlier that you shouldn't be checking people's profiles to know who's a medical student or doctor, that those profiles may not suggest that. Or did I lie in my reply to the guy who said that UniAbuja is the only Nigerian medical school with 100 percent of its lecturers as medical doctors? People like you judge others unfairly. Or do you want people not to correct falsehood just because they're not medical doctors or medical students? That holier-than-thou attitude will not help you.

5th attempt and medicine seems not to fall in place, for the sixth attempt next year I'm tightening my lace, all these years wasted shall not be in vain, no no I have to absorb the pain...
OK OK enough of the rhymes.... I need someone to guide me, one last attempt before I stop chasing, so my o level Maths C5 English C6 Bio B3 Chemistry B2 PHYSICS C6(so too many Cs)(The school I plan to go for actually uses a 50% score for olevel, no post utme) , so I actually was thinking of sitting for waec GCE Jan/Feb to correct the anomalies (Cs), so I have Been reading lately for the GCE and UTME, but you know preparation for utme is not same with waec(you have to store lots of information) and this is slowing me down..... So my question now is should I just leave the Idea of writing waec GCE and focus on utme and select a school uses post utme $ jamb for aggregate

Don't you think it's time to change institution? Look for a score that would require all credits on your waec and a good jamb + post ume score .

I understand dear. My advice is you opt for a school that combines both jamb and post ume. The rate at which people perform in waec these days is quite high and so you might be at a disadvantage considering the fact you wrote earlier. If I were you, I'll use the time I would have been using to read for GCE to read vigorously for jamb and pume. Then apply a school within your catchment area that combines jamb and postume. Please look to God for direction and Be smart. All the best.

You can try Delsu, the cutoff is not usually high. Work towards 280+ in Jamb, they use both Jamb and Post utme, 50 50. I am also trying Jamb next year but I salute your perseverance sha, 6th attempt, nice nice.

oops... Information is power, Delsu is mainly Aptitude and English with little of sciences. This year's result was a bit bad though... If your utme score is high why don't you do some research as some schools are yet to write putme and get COI form. All the best

At this point in time, either go big or go home. Will make this short and sweet.

Try Jupeb in schools that currently run the program. This will give you two chances of getting in, that is + utme. If you get in by Jupeb you will be heading to 200lv.

Another option is predegree, OAU predegree is very good howbeit expensive. But it will also provide you two chances of getting in, but you will be limited in ur choice of school in this case as you must pick OAU in Jamb unlike Jupeb where you can apply for 1 school through direct entry and another through Utme. But the thing with OAU is they will use the one with your highest score to consider you for admission, that's either jamb(+ post jamb) or pd.

Am using OAU cause I know about their predegree program and also the form is currently out. But its expensive though. You can research on other schools predegree program if this is the route you want to take.

My advice don't just apply for utme alone this time around, combine it with either of those two options up there. Goodluck

Dental surgery at ABU? I'm surprised the school offers that course. Hope you made inquiries about the department.

For the admission process, I'll say its a 50:50 chance. The school is not quite transparent with admission criteria. They don't release cutoffs or anything of that sort. I'll say be hopeful if your state falls within the catchment areas of the school.
This post doesn't undermine your beautiful performance. Congratulations in advance.

Since you'll be gunning FOR DELSU next year, let me chip in a thing or two which I believe will reorientate and help you and other aspirants whom I believe might see this.

You see, most people usually opt for DELSU with the "their cutoff is low" mentality and throw caution to the wind until they get into the exam centre and realise that white and black are two different colours. I can say, it's an exam where the 240s and 300s still have relatively same chance of getting admitted. Read on.

I don't know, but the post utme exam is usually set in a way to humble everyone including high fliers. Every year we see cutoffs drop and you begin to wonder but those that wrote the exam will tell you better. Like the lady said up there, don't be deceived by the cutoffs. This year's cutoff will soon be released and I can tell you it will drop so much from last year's that you'll think it's drilling for crude.

Prior to the exam, you hear aptitude test and you laugh but year in, year out, we see so many 300+ spank in the exams. You'll think they relaxed but when you sit for an aptitude test where a word is given and it's not specified if you're looking for the antonym or synonym with the options filled with both, you realise you really can't blame anyone.

Is it where you're asked the legislative system(Unicameral or bicameral) run by some countries in asia, sounds of animals that are not your regular dog/horse/lion, or quantitative reasoning questions where you're not given a sample and you have questions with open boxes and numbers in the options to somehow select from. You begin to wonder if the exam was for students or magicians.

You see why People who ace those kind of questions are those with residual knowledge on such concepts and a Mr B with say 300+ who "prepared" but got a score competing with his shoe size. It goes both ways actually.

Why am I saying this?

I can tell you undoubtedly that the intensity of your preparations for the exam has no bearing on the score you'll get after the result is released. Heck what are you preparing with when there's no pattern to follow? This year they set a particular kind of question You decide to use that as a guide, next year its a whole different ball game altogether.

I'm speaking from my personal experience and those that wrote this year will echo it loudly from the back.

Sadly, Many throw caution to the wind and realise this later on after the exam.
Take for instance, the scenario I cited above.
How do you know you've passed when you can't even say you picked the correct option to some questions?

Back When I sat for mine, I had stuffy friends whom we prepared for this same exam together with 300s but you can't say their scores outside.
For me?. it's history and I thank God for his grace because when favour finds you, no Matter the obstacles, things will align in your favour.

I can only advice you Pray hard, Read and smash your utme. And prepare for the post utme using anything. Anything? Yes, you heard me, anything. Read wide but You must trust in God because believe me, His favour is ALL you need.

Shalom and Goodluck.
