It's so Sad and unfortunate that the police would act in such a guerilla and uncivilized manner. Students or protesters are meant to be dispersed by teargas and not live amunitions, the whole incident is regrettable. We are grateful to Ekiti state Government for taking actions to forestall a reoccurrence of this act, panels have been set up, and directives have been given that no student should be harrassed or intimidated by the police. Those arrested students will be released. It's important to state here that the state Government has started moves at offsetting the bills of those in hostipa, Condolence visits by high powered delegation are already meeting the family of the Dead. While we all regret this sad event, condemned the actions of the men of the police force and the reactions from the Students, it's important we advise the fifth columnists who highjacked the protest by shooting at law enforcement agents to desist from such act as Ekiti state will not tolerate Lawlessness and thurgery from any Quarter. To those who have lost the love and trust of Ekiti people but want to force themselves on the people by inciting violence and sponsoring trouble, it's important to know that a new sheriff is in town and the hand of the law will hit Hard on them. We wish eternal rest for the dead and a quick recovery for the wounded. 1 Like |

Re: Update On Fuoye Saga: By Nans Zone D (south West) by Adeeko007(m): 1:25pm On Sep 13, 2019 |
The event has nothing to do with Fayemi or Erelu Bisi Fayemi as none of her security details were involved in such act. Even when here Entourage were attacked, she insisted her security details leave and she was immediately evacuated from Oye. The mentioning or attachment of the state Government to this sad event is just an attempt by those who lost out in the last election to seek some relevance after losing the the trust of the people |

To be honest with ourselves, let's be reasonable in all we do, as no reasonable person, not even a public figure like the wife of the gov of a state will order the shooting of the students. We all know how unprofessional our security men and women operate most times in the country. They take law into their hand and over flog matters that needed to be handled with simplicity. The earlier those who politicize every issues desist, the better for our state and Nigeria as a country. May God forgive and accept the souls of those young students who lost their lives, and may the Lord console their families as well. Amen. |

lahizak: The governor's wife is not a member of the Nigerian Police and she has no legal authority to give orders to men of the police force. Therefore, even if she was knuckle headed enough to give such orders, the police officer was and is very much in the position to reject such orders on the spot. Once the officers who shot the students are identified beyond reasonable doubt, they should face the law squarely. This is the only legal extent we can go to. However, if there is enough evidence or support for the belief that the governor's wife did promote the killings, a moral campaign could be instituted against her in the hope to bring her and likely her husband's administration down to set a strong example to other bigwigs. But this is purely political and could be mishandled. |

I kept wondering why no one was talking about bringing the trigger happy policeman to book. Everybody knows how our police can be, first lady present or not. Now they ve turned it to politics. |

seunmohmoh:that's the truth!! But on your proscribed punishment for the officer who shot the students,i have a feeling the police is only acting on instructions.you'd be surprised the yeye first-lady was the one who ordered the shooting.the police is only following the orders of his oga,i think madam bisi fayemi herself should be held responsible for the death of those students.. The police acted rashly by slapping the sug president but the 'power-drunk' first lady was the murderer.as far as I'm concerned, ekiti state now has a murderer as first lady. |

kjhova:Actually, she does. In Nigeria, d wife have legal authoruty to give dem order. Im a son of a top military officer and d staffs attached to my pman said dat every of the children and wife order is same thing with my dad order and dey are to follow it to the later. So if she order her officers to shoot, den its on her. Police and military job is just to follpw orders |

lahizak: That personnel of Nigeria's military/paramilitary system choose to do things in odd manners does not in anyway legitimize their modus. Under the British laws that we adopted in Nigeria, and as practiced in all other modern and thriving nations worldwide, "madam" of the OIC cannot order troops under her husband to shoot anyone. Well trained soldiers / law enforcement agents who are raised with dignity will downright refuse such orders on general principles. Let me paint a picture for you. Imagine that Ivanka Trump order members of the FBI or national guard to shoot down a set of Democratic Party youth campaigners in Washington DC for displaying placards taunting her and her dad...your guess is that these well trained guys will fire away? Please tell your dad his boys lack dignity and are badly trained. 1 Like |
