Let me add to what qudkom said. Long post alert.

(1) Getting a part time job depends on city and province. If you search on Indeed and physically go and hand in your resume in companies, you will get a job. Please don't be choosy, any job that comes first, do it.

(2) Canada education is not hard (my opinion) but it is super stressful and demanding. Make sure you have the right team. Ensure you move with people who share same goals with you. There will be days you will feel like giving up or no motivation to continue, it is your friends/team that will boost your morale in those low moments. There will be days you will have multiple assignments, reports or quizzes due and you need mental support, suggestions and so forth. This is where having the right support comes in.

The Chinese girl that had the best result in my program worked 3 days a week and she had 4.1 out of a possible 4.2.
For a whole session , I had at least 98% attendance in all my modules, I worked part time and I had11A's and 1B. Another Nigerian lady in my program, had same result, she worked night shifts and combined it with school. Nigerians are strong and built for anything

(3) Taking care of living expenses with part time work is dependent on if you are working for full 20 hours. Most jobs are structured for 8 hours per shift, so some companies will give you just 2 days in a week because of the 20 hours work restriction students have, while some companies will give you 21/2 days (your exact 20 hours). Some students work 3 days, 22.5 or 24 hours. I do not recommend working above 20 hours though.

If you work for exact 20 hours in London, Ontario and its environs (Sarnia, Windsor), you will get at least 1000CAD monthly. Minimum wage in Ontario is 14 Cad. so lets do the maths;
Accommodation = 450 - 550 Cad
Feeding = about 150 Cad monthly
Data = 50 Cad monthly

Total equals about 750 Cad. You can end up saving at least 200 Cad every month. Even if you do not get the exact 20 hours, 16 hours weekly can take care of feeding, accommodation and data if the student knows how to spend wisely.

P.s The major reason why International students (Nigerians) struggle in Canada is finance. Once you have money, tuition fully paid, you will do well in Canada.

Wow...this is very insightful. Thanks!

Please bro reply this my question as fast as u can.
I am 29,finished my hnd in 2017,finished Nysc July 2019, i am working as a service/maintenance engineer in a private hospital but my salary is paid at hand not through bank(180,000 per month). The company gave me an appointment letter ,confirmation letter ,a 2yr 6months study leave approval ,letter of no objection to the canada consulate officer ,i have my uncle as my sponsor and he is capable (100s of millions in his account) in my study visa application,is there any need for me to provide my own SOA? He another of my brother asked me if there is need for him to push money into my account so that i will print it and upload it too together with my uncle's SOA? Thus is what is holding me from applying for visa yet.
Please your advice

Hello Benwens,

You can check Centennial college out, they don't have deadlines for most of their courses except the intake for that particular session is filled.

But if you intend to consider May 2020 intake, try:

1. Conestoga college
2. Seneca college
3. George Brown college
4. Georgian college

The all have Electrical/Electronics Technician/Technology and Power Energy Technician/Technology.

Good luck!
Thanks for your response. Is there any University offering graduate diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering for may next year that would easily accept 2:2 in electrical engineering ? Thanks.

Why try to stress yourself. You can submit the new updated admission letter for September 2020 and during the wait for a decision from the embassy, you can apply to other schools for possible January 2020 intake.

But won't the embassy issue a Visa that's valid for September 2020. And when they do it would not mean anything even if I get a school that resumes January
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Vesment: 8:54am On Sep 26, 2019
i am not sure your visa will come before april or may. i think i have read a case where someone submitted new LOA and he was given visa by June the next year

Good Morning House, I just started following the travelling to canada thread, i wished i had started earlier. Presently i applied to Fanshawe college for a certificate program in GIS as i studied Urban and regional planning in Yabatech (HND) i applied for september 2019, i was granted admission i paid the admission deposit of $2,300 CAD, hopping to defer the admission for January 2020 because of Visa Processing, I sent a letter to them for deferral since 06th of september , that they will issue me another Letter of Admission showing January. Am yet to get any response. This is delaying my visa application.
I would like to ask alot of questions concerning SOA of sponsor and my own savings account as does are the only documents missing for my Visa Application.
Please i want to ask what should i do and i want to know if visa application for january is not late now that i have not even started the whole process?

Good morning House. Please, i would like you to help me out on how to Notarize my Government-Issued Photo ID at the Canadian Embassy.

* Do i need to book an appointment or just visit within the working hours of the business day?
* Do i need to pay any fee for notarizing my Government- Issued Photo ID?
* If i need to pay, how much is notarizing fee?
* What is the mode of payment (Credit Card or Cash)?
* What are the required documents to be submitted in order to get my Government-Issued Photo ID notarized

It was summed and besides, the closing balance of the account should be more than the summed available funds.

Hello Daniel,

As long as you are a matured applicant and gainfully employed, there is much need to include your personal SOA whether or not your salary is paid in cash. The most important thing is having certain amount sitting as the closing balance and to an extent, the inflow and outflow.

It will also help your application if your brother can transfer the said funds to your account at least to cover your 1st year LE then write a letter of support to address the lump sum and the purpose it serve.

As it may be, its advisable for you to include your personal SOA to that of your uncle.

P.S: out of the 100s of millions in your uncle's account, he should try as much as possible to show a bit of financial commitment towards the intended sponsorship.

Good luck!

Memorial University and University of Saskatchenwan has Electrical and Electronic Engineer. Thus, i think Memorial focus more on Communications Engineer in their Graduate Diploma. With a 2.2, i doubt the possibility. However, contact the respective schools before applying.

Good luck!

Upon the issuance of the visa, as long as its valid, you can facilitate your entry to Canada where at the port of entry your study permit will be issued to suit your admission intake.

So, for as long as you have a valid visa and a new admission letter, you can easily change your program intake by updating the new admissions letter in your gckey online account.

Good luck!
