Two bedroom cos...

1. Your mother in law, your mum or any family member will come around to assist in caring for your baby. You don't want them sleeping in the parlour, it's not right.

2. Your wife will give birth to your first child shortly after so you'll need the extra room.

3. Before you knew it, your infant will become a toddler. You don't want to be doing kerewa while your child is asleep. It's a NO-NO.

If you're on a low budget, then your option is mini flat. In that case:

- Try to get a thick mattress to be put in the sitting room. Your guest shouldn't be made to sleep on a sofa. Also get a mosquito net that fits the mattress. ( Guest's comfortability is of utmost importance)

Note: never ever ffuckkk in the same bed your child sleeps in. You can do it in the parlour or even in the kitchen
You are funny. What if it take 10 years before the woman gets pregnant and by then the mother-in-law may already be deceased. So who uses all the unnecessary extra space grin

1 bedroom ... no parlour.

1. You would discourage visitors

2. Save money.

3. Fvck the nonsense out of yourselves.

Better oil dey ur head. There are cheaper halls joor. Don't know about lagos, but in Warri , couple of years ago, my niece got a hall for 30-50k. Not your flashy and paradise kind of stuff. Just hall.
I told her that wedding is just a days event but marriage continues. No go use money wey una go take survive for one year take do marriage o, body go tell you later.
All this little children forming posh and throwing themselves into debt

Las las na like 600-700k dem take run every grin

In the same Warri, KFT Place charges about 500k-1.5m, Emmanuex about 600k - 1m, even in that Lagos, one can get a cheap hall of 100k, it's just that most people love living above their means.

Like you said, it's just a one day event, one shouldn't bleed his pocket just so others can be happy, in every location, there are cheap and expensive halls.

There's no particular apartment recommended for newly wedded or anybody, you get your apartment with understanding of your spouse, according to what you can afford.

Please I need advice

I and my better half would be tying the knots soon and we are trying to secure an apartment as a newly wedded couple

Please what kind of apartment would be preferable

1 room self contain
Room + parlour self contain (1 bedroom mini flat)
2 bedroom flat

Thanks for your responses and reasons
I believed you are living somewhere, if not in a shared room with somebody, take her to where you are now and from there plan on getting your own personal house

you see say you be joker. 2 bedroom with agreement and agent fee in a place like ikotun is like over 380 to 420k. Furnishing if you have properties in your old house before will be like 150k. If you are coming from your parents house 500k will go to furnishing. Lets always be realistic and truth ful. Unless your wife and both families get sense 1m can't do wedding. Igbo list is over 500k self

Mr man, 1.5 is enough for an average person, no dey talk wetin I no know...
Atmost 2 bedroom flat 400k, mind you in that same Ikotun you will get a 2 bedroom flatbed 250 to 300k, na people most especially agent dey spoil the price, wedding no go pass 500k to 1m or at most 1.5m including traditional o...

Everything depends on yours pocket/means

Room and parlour self contained apartment is more than enough.

Please disregards anyone telling u to marry and stay with your family/relatives. That will be the beginning of your problems so avoid it at all cost!

You and your wife need to be alone to figure out and understand each other for some couple of years!

U don't need any 3rd party

Congratulations bro. I think a 2 bedroom flat is good for starts. The spare room would be for visitors and in the long run, your child(ren)

Some people started with face me I face you house before moving to their own house. it just depends on what your account is saying.

though I haven't married but before then I pray to God to let me have a pieces of land for a family house.

Marriage this days is scary, but why can't you do traditional wedding or introduction first before spraying unnecessary money for a day celebration.

That's why I prefer our Yoruba kind of wedding.

Oga mase ju ara e lo o, and let your wife be the contented one. Lobatan.

Congrats on your forthcoming wedding.
Please keep living where you are already living now.

You don't need an apartment in your early stage of marriage maybe till you start having kids unless you want to impress your wife and her family in which case is an unfortunate faulty start.

Move her to stay with your family so they can bring out the wife in her.

Most of today's ladies are ill-trained and you need her to bond with your family because you don't want a wife who'd never visit your people if you are unfortunate to die before her.

Wow

What I wrote was what we experienced when my sister was getting married.
We were both going around looking for event centres.
It was between 1.5-2m as at then.
I just got this online now.

They are still early. Please don't entertain any visitor for now. A Selfcontain (parlor with room and other utilities) is best for you guys now to allow for bonding. When you get to the bridge of family members starting to visit, you will seek for a two bedroom setup...

If parents won't free let them sponsor the wedding na. Don't go and carry gbese for people that have enjoyed their lives and married at a far lesser cost. You have a lot ahead of you.

Bro get yourself a mini flat and don't listen to the first commentor you want to have a healthy marriage stay away as possible from both families because having her stay in your family house is called see finish if you know you ain't ready to become one with her then kindly hold of with the wedding why would a learned person tel you to move her to your family house I totally disagree rent a mini flat it will keep famity members at bay knowing you guys stay in a small apartment will make them stay away you guys need privacy now define the way you wanna live your life not the way family members want you too.
I hope you see meaning in this my little message
