Tammy will come good,I believe his decision is borne out of where his heart truly lies being England. Sometimes, just playing a few games for a country where ur heart belongs could mean much dan earning 100 caps for anoda wen u ain’t happy. Whether we like it or not,as a black man in d western society, u are expected to prove to be twice as competent as ur white folks before u will be given same opportunities as them. If Tammy stays on his feet,he will earn some good caps for England as he seems hungry for success. Personally, he has my best regards!

Gbam.

Same with Fikayo Tomori.

Their heart is with England and all this "wait NFF, let me think" is just to buy time until they win their first competitive England CAP.

All the best to them

Rio Ferdinand Defends Tomori’s Mistake – Hard To Stop A Striker Like Osimhen

Legendary Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has backed Fikayo Tomori who failed to track failed to keep an eye on Nigeria international forward Victor Osimhen for Lille’s only goal in the 1-2 UEFA Champions League loss to Chelsea.

Tomori lost sight of Osimhen as the Nigerian rose to meet a cornerkick with a firm header to draw Lille level in the 33rd minute after Tammy Abraham has given Chelsea the lead in the 22nd minute.

Speaking during the half time break, the former England international said Tomori can be excused for the goal because of the movement of Osimhen which made it hard for the Chelsea defence to keep an eye on him.

” It’s not easy trying to stop a striker who is always running and switching positions. Osimhen is always on the move and in the goal he took up a position in between Tomori and Zouma. At a time they both thought he belong to the other man. Really hard to stop a striker who is full of movement in the box”, Ferdinand said.

RIGHT NOW Osimhen, Chukwueze, Aribo and Bonaventure are on fire.

The contest for Nairaland Young player of the year will be interesting. The Brazil and Benin games will determine a lot grin

But I think RIGHT NOW grin Chukwueze and Osimhen are ahead.

I wasn't really impressed with Bonaventure's goals against Madrid. While, it is a rare feat for a player from a lower league club to score twice against Madrid in a competitive match, o wonder why he was slipping unnecessarily before scoring. A more agile defender would have dove in for the tackle after his slips.

Thinking about it now, Ramos would've caused a penalty had he dove in carelessly. Well, who knows....congrats to the lad aha. The sky isn't the limit

Guys

You see, Rohr has done well to assemble and partly groom a killer, young squad for the Super Eagles. He has managed them and given them good transfer advice and they owe a lot of their successes to him.

HOWEVER.......

My major issue with the Super Eagles is with the technical crew. They have shown time and again that they suffer from sever deficiencies in their tactical and technical approach to the game. Its one thing to have a good squad and its another to fully utilize their potentials to win matches. In this regard, Rohr and his assistants haven't performed up to expectations. We bottle games we should win and we can't make good subs.

While we can be excited about the performance of our boys, we need to call on the NFF to organize quality, international refresher courses for all out National team coaches (Super Eagles especially) and it must be I'm partner with European coaches and something that is done regularly and not a one-off thing.

I'm happy with the appointment of the new Sports minister. He seems to know what he is doing. A major improvement from Dalung the malign.

I hope Brazil comes with full force against us so that we can note areas for improvement. I don't want us beating them easily like we did Argentina prior to WC and then underrating them in competitive matches.

All in all, it should be an interesting international break

Ironically, I am still not sold on Mbappe. He has done well but I am not sold.

My eyes are on Haaland. If he continues with the form close to what he has shown, he will be my ideal class for a pure high grade talent.

19-year-old Haaland is just starting. He has scored 17 goals in 10 club games, including four hat-tricks, and will look to add to that tally for Salzburg against Liverpool on Wednesday

And he scored yesterday against Liverpool.

Being on the bench does not mean the player is not good.

Haaland was on the bench because he was not fit

I am not sold.

Joao Felix has done virtually nothing in the game of football but I am head over heels for him. Haaland is just starting but I am thrilled by him.

I watched Bernado Silva and Mbappe in that game. I was over the moon with Bernado Silva and Lemar's performance, over Mbappe.

It is a thing of preference.

Mbappe has been brilliant but not yet won me over. I like and respect the dude. I am just not yet sold. Not a kid that will have me turning off something I am doing to watch excitedly.

We are not here to discuss his citizenship. This thread is for Super Eagles players, as you can probably read, not for Nigerian players. So, when we discuss anybody here, we are discussing those that are eligible to play for Nigeria (and want to play) or already play for Nigeria.

We are not discussing those that go to Nigerian Weddings in London and eat Jollof rice, then wish Nigeria Happy Independence and fly the flag whenever a Burna Boy jam comes on at a club in Essex. This is not the thread for those ones, else, we may also begin to talk about Skepta and John Boyega.

As far as this thread and the rest of the workd is concerned, Tammy is English. Be guided

As if you have never discussed outside the SE topic.

As you have rightly said in the bolded, we are discussing Tammy Abraham who is still eligible to play for Nigeria.

Besides, your claim that one is not a Nigerian until he/she hold a Nigerian passport have been debunked and still stands. Citizenship is not by passport. I made it clear in my post below before you quoted me with the aim/intention to debunk it.

It's not a rule, wherever did you read that.

If we must discuss Tammy, we can discuss him the same way we discuss Ronaldo and co, as international players. He is not a Super Eagles player, so, we are discussing him in the context of an international player.

Like I said, he is Nigerian in his father's house, on the pitch, he is English. The sooner some people stop forcing us to discuss Tammy as if he is a Super Eagles player, the better for us. His growth, stagnation or whatever will not affect the Nigerian team, will it?

I don't know where forgiveness brought up talk about eligibility and citizenship. My point was clear as day, but can easily be misconstrued by the usual persons.

Even the discussions about Ronaldo and Messi can be tiring in its self. The priority on this thread is Super Eagles players, everyone else is an after-thought, including Tammy.

Gbam.Rightly said thegoodjoe.

Really surprised on some comments made by some respectable guys here on Tammy and Osimehn, funny comments.

I think football development of a talented player depend on manager's faith, really surprised seeing Giroud and Batsuayi on the bench for Tammy, thanks to Lampard self belief.I watched Tammy in Swansea against Man utd and i wondered why this guy was on loan.

Well,i don't see Tammy playing for Nigeria and thank God we have young guys coming up especially highly rated Osimehn with good guidance the guy is going places.

Do we really need to compare the two? too early cos they are young chaps who had opportunity of mangers faith this season and the two are doing well. How i wish having Tammy with Osimehn in SE squad.

Oh!Osimehn in Chelsea?i bet it with anybody that he would rot on bench or always on loan even in this season, not that he is not good but the philosophy of Chelsea, look at Mo Sallah,Da Bruyne static developments at Chelsea and even Osimehn experienced at Wolfsburg, coaches determines player success

This remind me of Iheanacho early impact at man city based on Pellegrinni faith and what happened when Guardiola came,Nacho was out and this is what is affecting Nacho till date. I know a lot here are hammering the poor boy, forgetting that football centred around a lot of factors.Let Nacho see a coach that would throw him in and see rejuvenated Nacho.

We most time condemned Ighalo but Rohr faith in him paid off, highest goal scorer at afcon. If some are Rohr,Ighalo would not be on eagles bench talkless of starting eleven.

I remember Kokmne always talking how Dominic Iorfa was sidelined at Wolves and how it affected the guy development.Really surprised seeing Tomori doing well. This was a guy that was below averaged at Hull but with Lampard at Derby we all saw solid Fikayo Tomori and the development continues with Lampard at Chelsea.

I totally agreed with thegoodjoe, a talented player can only be guide by faith of a manager.

Osimhen and Chuks won't fizzle out any time soon. You heard that here. Football doesn't work that way. Lol. And Iheanacho's is perculiar. He had a change of systems and club philosophies. He isn't dead or gone is he? He recently came back and showed what he still got with a goal within a few mins of play. Iheanacho still has that mojo abeg.

Look at Christian Pulisic who we all were hailing saying he is ahead of K.Nwakali, Osimhen and Chuks when the lad was having a storming season at Dortmund. But today the guy is struggling to get game time at Chelsea. He is almost non-existent.

Icon4s:

I wish same but don't be too quick. Football can be crazy at times. These two may even fizzle out and another duo may be the ones leading the attack. I have seen this happen over time. Some people almost killed me on this thread years back because I said same about Iheanacho. grin
Let's just be taking the games with them as they come.

Opininions do differ dats y I stay away from “opinion based arguments” on this thread and even in real life as we all see things differently. It was my first time of seeing Mbappe play when I made that assertion and his personal and collective records after then allude to the fact that he is a top player any day. I await the next player in his age bracket to break some of his enviable record (No disrespect of ur opinion). Peace!
