It Should be instant. The amount debited from your account is less by your interest. Eg 700k tbills with interest of 30k, it is 670k that will be debited from your account but your tbills investment will read 700k. So automatically you already received your interest.

In this context can I fill 700k on the form? Knowing that I have 670k in my account?

No you cant... If you do, they wont charge you, meaning you wont be debited...

E.g ,you filled in for 700k but you have 670k, it means you are telling them you are no longer interested in buying treasury bill.

According to your calculations, the Eurobond would return ($1000) 400k naira + ($90) 36k = 436k wheras the tbill would return 403k. How is that BS?

Despite all the talk of recession in the US, we all know that the likelihood of a devaluation there is much lower than in Nigeria. Even Dangote recently spoke about keeping 60% of his investments outside Africa going forward, citing devaluation as one of his concerns - https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2017-aliko-dangote-interview/.

you are right.

436k trumps 403k at the end of the year.
It's minimum investment that's the is now.
Am looking into dollar fund now.

Sit back and do the math..
You put 360k/1000$ in Eurobond @ 9% = 33k
Dollar rises to N 400 great!!

No!!
Your 1k$ = 400k and your interest = 36k ONLY! @400/$
BS!

Meanwhile, 360k @12% in Tbills = 43k

Show me the gain of doing EuroBonds
(you might end up buying $ @370 anyway)

I have a mmf account with them, will I need to open another account for this?
Thank you

If Only you have done ur Research . You wouldn't have said the bolded Above.

If you were concentrated on naira asset btw 2014 - 2016. Nobody would tell you about euro-bond.

Hope U're Aware you cant get above 6% on eurbd P/A presently ?

My Advise try to have a diversified portfolio and you will be fine.

Why close the account when you can just transfer all your money to another bank?

And, yes! All banks have time frames their secondary market are opened.

Tbill vs building
Tbill vs Eurobond
Tbill vs Dollar

invest, know your path and do it religiously.
Like one of my colleague would say, “ we said building is not an investment. But our friends have buildings to show after years, we have no money to show”. A little here and there balances things. The analogies are too vague for me. I make X amounts every month and invests 1/3 of X on Tbills and the remaining 2/3 on expenses and building a rental property-I don’t think it’s a bad idea. That’s what I currently do. And it gives me fulfillment.

Thats not how you get rich. You max your income..Why do business where you make 5%/Annum and can do another business with the same risk level and make double of that amount at the same time.

Lets say you invest N100M into T-bills.A little increase from 10%-11% puts an extra 1M into your pocket. You cannot say because you are diversifying, you have a collective income of lets say 8% on that same N100M.That is deliberately denying yourself N3M.Not a wise way of investing

I'll advice you to do your due diligent with your bank before investing, it's not cheap to maintain $ account. You deposit money, you are charged commission, you withdraw same charge applies, you withdraw penalty applies, even when you receive or send money online you incur charges. At the end of the day, IF Naira is not badly depreciated, you might end up losing sizable part of your money.

Stay with Stanbic, they are the best.

Always go early to book your TBills. Look for a branch where they have customer care officers who know about money market or when you get there, tell them to call their Global Market guys at the Head Office so you can speak with them. The Global Market guys will direct the branch on what to do.

This is the vague analysis I don’t like. Do I have 100M coming to me at once. Or are you not seeing people’s auction failing everyday. Just do what works for you. Leave max out for now. 10 years time we will talk. I have my own path and calculation too bro. I did not win lottery so stop analysing with 100M for me.

Bro, don't take it too personal. We are not fighting.lol

The 100M was just for analysis. Could've used 10M, could've used 100K. Doesn't take away anything. It doesn't even have to be T-bills as basis of the whole thing. I talked about T-bills cause that's the thread we are on

I for one diversified from T-bills by purchasing a property which rose by almost 200% in 2 years.T-bills won't give me that

All am saying if you didn't get my point is you don't diversify all in the name of spreading out your investments. You diversify cause other investment options may offer more than what you get from your current stream of investment

Main thing is we are just contributing our thoughts and how to make as much money as possible. If spreading out works for you, then you do you

Hello, guys

I've overworked my brain trying to calculate figures since morning. I want to access a bank loan to reinvest in treasury bills.

Is this a wise move?

Will I ultimately be on the losing side of this equation?

How much is bank loan interest rate per annum?
Around 21% and above.

How much is Tbills interest rate per annum?
Around 13% as at today.

You want to use 21% debt to make 13% profit?

This picture explains what would happen if you try it.

now is it yield or yield at issue that I will get?

.. After doing the math... @7.63 for 2025
And considering charges of like 3-5%
It's not worth the stress... Except dollar reaches N450-500

I will stick to Tbills and start a business now... Stock goods...

If dollar rises.. The goods may double in price.
That will make me more money too.. Eh.. Lol
