Chapter 4 cont'd

....."I would like to know how and why my eight year old son came home the other day and was talking about Efe and Tboss?" A parent asked rather too calmly for my liking the moment the director opened the floor for parents to ask questions and make their complaints known after her long speech on immorality. The parent in question had no kid in my class to which I was grateful but I knew it wasn't over yet for me yet.

....."How do you mean, Mrs. Odukoya? Can you please be clear about your complaint?" The director replied the woman's questions with her own questions. Typical when you have nothing to use to your defense when accused of something.

...."I meant that I would like to know how and why kids less than eight years are discussing an 18+ rated show with so much familiarity. A show that is passworded on our cable tv and never watched by anyone in my family. So I am intrigued at to how my son knows so much about something he doesn't watch. I don't want to jump into conclusions yet which is why I am asking for an explanation here in front of both parents and teachers." She replied and returned to her seat. She said all this calmly once again which I didn't take as a good sign. The woman has either concluded on what she wants to do or that was her own way of expressing herself. The former wasn't good news for the school.

...."Ma, I would like to answer your question." The head teacher started.

...."We are not amoral in this school but hold moral values highly here and reward those that toll that path without failing at the annual award event in the school. I am very displeased to hear this and I am surprised it wasn't curtailed neither was it reported to me or the school management; Nevertheless, I am glad you said something about this before it turns into something else. The teacher or teachers are not absolved from this shameful news but it is very important that we call out parents and caretakers on this because I know kids of eight and nine are young but very smart but still they cannot watch these shows without the permission of those in charge of them whether genuinely or via carelessness." The head teacher stated without favor. The table this man is shaking so.

...."Parents discuss this show, relatives and caretakers inclusive and even teachers too and these kids listen to them and copy what they see the adults doing and of course discuss it amongst themselves. I am not faulting your story Ma because kids can talk about something they have no idea about like they actually know what they're talking about but if you insist that your kid is talking about this show like he knows it then he must be watching from somewhere but I can assure with all confidence that it's surely not from here."

..."As for preventing this from happening. I will speak with every teacher and make such discussions and other adult talks are not allowed in the classrooms and wherever the children are gathered while in school but parents and caretakers have to help us. If such shows should be watched, it must be done in the absence of the kids. They shouldn't be in the living at all for any reason whatsoever while the show is airing." He finished and I had to say that I was impressed even if Baba always want to please the director.

...The aggrevied parent said nothing and most parents didn't which was a clear sign of guilt. The director didn't linger on the topic either but I knew she would have a word with the teacher later.

...."My complaint can be termed unusual and I honestly do not care if people here see it that way but I have to honestly say that I am not impressed in the least as regards disciplinary methods used by the school. I hear from my kid all the time and while I have complained ceaselessly about how the school keeps changing its teacher but this is rather restricted to my kid's class." A rather tall and big woman stated. This woman was Amaka's mum.

...."Let go straight to the point." She continued in her rather thick Ibo accent.

...."My daughter complains about distractions all the time from other kids in the class and I keep asking why the teacher cannot handle the unruly kids but she insisted that her teacher tries his/ her best but it's the same story. This is the third teacher who has somehow failed to control his classroom and I have come to the conclusion that it's the school and its lack of discipline. I mean this is a school where kids pass by adults and refuse to greet until they are called out to do so and yet no actual disciplinary action is taken apart from the casual scolding from teachers.

.... It's appealing I must say and it simply gives the impression that the children are the ones in charge of the class. I mean why will a child fail to get the best education possible just because of a few unruly ones in class who can't be tamed because the school is directly in support of their annoying activities during classroom teaching.? Why?" The woman asked in anger.

...."I believe that's a bit far fetched, Mrs. Okoye....." The director began but was cut off by the angry mother.

...."..... My observations are not far fetched. A boy keeps running away from the class, thereby dividing the attention of the teacher and another keeps grunting and throwing papers at pupils and other silly antiques while class is being held. They're not properly punished and so continue with their wrong doings. I mean if they can't be punished, then the school should have the decency of cutting them off as they are a nuisance to other interested pupils in class....."

".....Madam, my child is not a nuisance!" Kelvin's mum yelled out in anger.

..... Oya oh, it's about to go down...

Chapter 4 cont'd

..... " I didn't mention a name, madam." Mrs. Okoye stated after the unnecessary show of force from the melodramatic actress.

".....You didn't have to. Mr. Alex already did the profiling." The useless woman said, turning the discussion my way. A very useless woman indeed. Woh, if this woman try nonsense with me this morning, I go show am say I get craze too. The director looked my way and I gave her my best innocent look after which she turned her gaze back to the women who were still arguing.

"Mrs. Arnold, please sit down. I am sure....." The head teacher tried to intervene,

"...... I won't sit down and allow my child to be stereotyped in such a degrading manner. His fresh teacher hitting him is enough..." She started again, involving him like I was the enemy; it took a great deal of effort for me to keep my cool.

".... Oh, he spanked your boy. Waoh! That's a first. This is promising..." Mrs. Okoye cut in, mocking the reaction of Mrs. Arnold with her words. The affected woman was already shaking from rage; it was then I realized that this woman had serious issues. I was thanking my God that I was pretty smart with my reply earlier that morning else I was certain that one of us would have received slaps if not from both ends. This woman no well.

"..... Mrs. Otigba, you assured me that your teachers aren't barbaric enough to hit or spank or whatever, my kid but yesterday my son was assaulted without my permission and nothing was done about it. I am raising it up now and a parent has shown to be impressed that my son was assaulted by a barbaric being." She finished, her anger focused on the director.

.... My eyes flashed in rage. Lord knows I lost it at that point. I was beyond mad but I managed to keep it under control because I knew this woman could very take this beyond the school and pretty much fvcked me up. She might not have the resources but she does have the connect. It was only a matter of calling. E better make I keep quiet.

...."Yes, I remember saying that to you when you came here for enquiry but after you did, I made it clear that the head teacher had the right to spank a child if he misbehaved. You had no problems with that but the condition of asking your permission to carry out spanking wasn't included and very new to me." The director said in a clear irritated manner, squeezing her face and pulling off her glasses. She does look different without her glasses though, wonder how she would have looked in her youth.

"..….Mrs. Okoye has every right to complain about the distractions caused by other pupils and never for once did she call Kelvin a nuisance but rather described his behaviour as such. Mr. Alex is new here and doesn't know the rules here to the letter. I apologize for his behaviour on his behalf but I will urge you to speak with Kelvin and let him know that his behaviour will no longer be allowed in the classroom. Please, I urge you not to be annoyed nor take this personal. We all want what's best for our kids and I am sure you do too." The director aptly replied, smartly taking control of the situation.

... Mrs. Arnold didn't seem satisfied to me but sat down nonetheless but not after giving me a very bad stare but my facial expression was indifferent. She turned forward and sat back down and I knew we will live to fight another day. This was certainly not over. A beautiful woman with an awful temper.

..... The rest of the complaints were mundane and nothing as tense at the one before. Parents complained about discipline and more than a handful decided that the class teacher should be allowed to spank an unruly child that giving the head teacher the sole right to do that was taking control away from the class teacher. The director was against it but parents were adamant, saying that they didn't want to raise spoilt, mannerless kids.

.... A few other issues were discussed and the meeting was over. Snacks and drinks were shared but only the snacks and bottled water were picked by the parents because taking drinks that were not in cans but in broken bottles were beneath them.

.... We moved to the classroom but troublemaker didn't follow, instead she stayed behind to speak with the director and head teacher. While I was seen as a barbarian by one parent, others were impressed with my ability to step on the head of a snake and come out unhurt. A few issues were thrashed and most seem to satisfied with my answers. I got two parents who wanted me to take their kids lesson after school but I decided to discuss it further on Whatsapp with them. A few change rinsed my hand and a smile of gratitude stayed on my lips even after the parents had all left.

.... But a meeting was summoned by the director and I headed to the last and final phase of trouble for that day.

Chapter 5

...."Today has been a very tiring day so this meeting will be very brief. I will like to take my rest as soon as I can but not before discussing some things with you all." The director began and honestly she looked extremely tired. That troublemaker must have drained her.

...."I know BBN is a very interesting show to some and I am going to be honest because I actually watch it and I have heard a few of the teachers discussing it but some of us have failed to realise that these kids are smart and listen to everything we say. Mr. Daniels and I have caught a few kids either slowing down to listen to what I am saying or hiding just outside my office to do that." She looked to the head teacher for support and he nodded vigorously to confirm her words.

...."I punished them accordingly but one thing struck right there. Those kids listen and just as Mrs. Okoye pointed out earlier today, they report everything they hear and see to their parents at home. Therefore it is wise for us to be mindful of what we say or we will continue to have complaints like that of today. I am glad she complained else she could have concluded and we could probably have lost a child sooner. Please, be mindful of what you say in the presence of these kids even in your native dialect before it is used against you." She emphasized and turned her head towards my direction.

...."Mr. Alex, our fresh teacher." The director joked and everyone chuckled while I smiled.

...."I admire your zealousness and commitment because I have heard Mr. Benson ( the security guard) yell for you to leave the school a few times in your short arrival here and of course I got a lot of positive feedbacks today from parents after they were done checking their kids work. I must commend you for stamping your authority quite early in order for you to gain any sort of control over those children because I won't lie, those kids are the toughest this school has ever assembled." A few acknowledgements from other teachers in "yes" and "hmm" followed in the wake of the director's speech.

"But I must warn you not to get carried away by the words of these parents who urged you today to spank their kids. We have all witnessed quite the
drama whenever a displeased parent come in here complaining about how their ward was spanked. It was such complaints that led us to ban spanking kids in the first place, so please be careful with your choices and do not hit Tolu ( the lazy kid that hates writing) and Kelvin as both are asthmatic. This is the reason why his mom is against hitting him. She just told me of his condition today in my office and I took offense at that. I was really angry but she was adamant about not wanting pity or whatever nonsense she gave as an excuse. Anything could have happened to that kid and we would have paid dearly for it. All this was let known to her today and she humbled herself."

...."Still, I want everyone of us, not just Alex, to be careful and really smart with our choices as regards spanking kids. You will carry your cross when things turn sore. Mr. Alex, welcome to the family but be rest assured that all eyes are now on you to perform. I wouldn't want such attention on a new teacher but it is what it is. Be careful." She ended and soon took her leave.

..... I didn't like the attention alright but if I was handling the toughest class, then that had to happen. The moment Madam left the gate to go into her residence which I learnt was actually the next building, the teachers started asking about their salaries for the previous month, not in the least interested in what the head teacher had to say.

.... The rude behaviour of these ladies annoyed me greatly and I couldn't help but come to the conclusion that Mr.Daniels was either a flirt and had been rejected by a few or he was seeing a few of them or was still seeing them. That just had to be it because it was the "see finish" symptom happening here.

....The tall teacher that bewitched me was the first to take her leave and the others soon followed. No single respect whatsoever. I shook my head and walked upstairs to my class when I nearly bumped into the tall lady. She had pulled off her suit and I couldn't help but notice that she had quite the sizeable bust. I wasn't much of a boobs guy but those things looked rather enticing. I apologized and without knowing where the confidence came from, I tried to make small talk. At the end of the small talk while I stylishly watched her long steps move down the stairs, I had gotten to know we were from the same state. I counted that as progress and imagined that we will be good friends now.

.... I went back to arrange my things and the classroom before heading home hoping that we will get paid soonest. I happened to meet with the bootylicious lady as she left the school gate and we walked down to the bus stop together, gisting and connecting rather quickly. She was fun, total fun and it was easy to make her laugh. She was very cute I must say and even if she wasn't mine and will never be, I still felt good standing next to her as she hit me a few times playfully. The jealous lingering stares of other men as they drove or walked back made me feel good despite the loss. We got to the bus stop and we separated. She waved goodbye and as I got a good look at that package behind her, I came to the conclusion that some people on this earth were indeed wonderfully made and some incredibly lucky especially the guy hitting that. I crossed over to the other side and walked the remaining distance home

Chapter 5 cont'd

...... Driven by lust....... he fell from Grace. That was the summary of the devotional I read on Friday. It was self explanatory and was quite detailed about the fall of quite a long list of men both in the Bible days and dates after the death of Jesus. Yet, the spirit of lust is one of the most difficult ones for anyone to ignore, it was nearly impossible to do that especially when surrounded with enticing display of it raw with flimsy excuses of cover as clothes. For some men, it was the fact that they just couldn't be satisfied or they no longer know their limits and must be inside someone, else they will feel so restless. Yeah, it had gotten that bad for a few folks, it was more like an addiction at this point.

....... Others couldn't think or fathom the thought of sharing their body and fluids with someone they barely know, someone who they had no romantic or emotional bond with. The thought alone disgusted them. I used to think that I could do it with anyone but I later realized that I was fooling myself because I just wanted to feel among. Be like the other guys who didn't care who a lady was as long as there was something in that woman that could make their organ erect.

....Yes, I greatly admire the body of Nicolette and Nyomi and concluded that I could do anything to get laid with them but the more I thought about what they actually do and the risk they take just for the money, the more the thought of laying with them disgusted me. Those women would surely be very mechanical in bed and would surely not do half of the fake things they do in that video. Getting them, especially the white lady was more than 2000 dollars for an hour or so and nearly ten thousand for just over ten hours, barely half a day. It was crazy money and despite the big sum paid, it will never be compared to what a person you are in love with will give you. All would just be acting a fantasy with a stranger, barely the stuff of dreams as I once imagined it to be. Besides, if I had that sort of money with me, Nicolette would be the last thing on my mind.

..... So, it was decided then, I wasn't asexual but was either demiromantic or demisexual. It was either one of the two and that could be the reason why I was still a virgin because I couldn't just bring myself to lay with just anyone. It was a good thing and it was a natural or should I use biological principle that could come to hunt me later. It was because I actually didn't need to be like the person per, either way, an emotional attachment could be formed whether out of like or dislike and after the encounter of yesterday, mid-afternoon in the compound. I could certainly feel something in the air and it wasn't a good thing at all.

..... It was hard taking my mind off that and focus on the problem that was actually wrong with me which was my education. I guess running away from home wasn't the best decision I have ever made and as each day turn to another, it was one I was certainly regret. Perhaps, a few more weeks or months and I could have been home free but I just couldn't take enough of what was taking place anymore. The same thing I ran from was now chasing me and if care wasn't taken, it was a trap I would consciously fall into.

.....Now, I had to work to get even the simplest of things that had been provided for me by my Dad. A simple match stick became luxury to me at point here but it was a life I picked for myself; a life of sweat and pain before I could get the smallest of things. I had enough on my shoulders already and honestly didn't need this burden. A burden I couldn't tell if it was by the work of God or other parameters around me that had shaped me to become this person. A thing of pride at one point in my life but because of the yearnings of my flesh to attain pleasure, it has now become an unpleasant principle.

.... This was just the best psychological evaluation I could give concerning my current situation; the "trouble" that flowed through me, but this was what other guys would call an opportunity and that it should be taken but for me it was becoming something more than an opportunity. Is it possible to be attracted to someone you really dislike or at one point in time, loathe so much?

.... I actually intended this story to be quite short but it is turning into something else. Well, we will see where this leads to...
