I knew after the xenophobic experience with south Africa when they disrespected us, something must be done... Something must be corrected asap... Imagine telling NIGERIANS to go home(cuz house no good) now all hands must be on deck to redeem the image of the country...

Let's close the border to achieve self sufficiency, most of the things we import can be produced locally.. food products etc...

One man yesterday said "na stone full naija rice", I challenged him, and told him maybe his wife did a mistake or something... I have yet to eat any "stoney rice" since... So that was obviously a lie.... Besides i prefer to eat my own stone rice, than have all these countries disrespect us anyhow, yet they depend on us for one thing or the other....

In Africa we should relate like the USA... No more "agbaya BIG BROTHER anything, now we Don see all of them for what they are, all na wash, eye service.... They can't do without us, yet openly loathe us, who does that....

Naija shall be great... Just watch..

As in...

Two rusted barrels by the side of the road with one loose chain tied across.

I guess Nigeria is allergic to class on every level.

We really need to wake up in this country. Same thing happening at the benin- Nigeria border. All sort of items waiting to come in.

As for me the borders should remain closed until we get our act together.

majority of them are here claiming to be Nigerians, inform of alimajeris, Okada men, trash pickers and even able to find their ways into civil services, this is why restructure is mandatory before they over run us here .
they have been using them to win elections

our immigration should also do their job, I'm sure this will also help in fight against book haram as they won't be able to move weapon in anymore through the land border

I didn't get anything biko.

I didn't write it (that's why it's in quotes. When you see a Nairaland post that's highlighted in this way:
like this
, know that it is a quotation). These are tweets by the Twitter user and they are posted exactly the same way that the Twitter user tweeted them (I never ever alter quotes).

The closure would no doubt force the neighbouring countries to take a stand against smuggling cause it's their economy that's worst hit
Not just smuggling, terrorism as well. Niger and Chad have served as fodders and escape route which these terrorist exploit. With the biting issue of the border closure, Nigeria can leverage to get a better security deal. Just a thought...

See our border for goodness sake. They are deceiving themselves cause people still manoeuvre their way to smuggle things during mid night.

Buhari was an olodo in 1984 and he is still an olodo in 2019 who thinks that cheap strongman stunts like closing borders to show power helps anybody. I can't believe people are celebrating this rubbish.

The poster on Twitter is happily showing photos of Nigerian Vitafoam products that were being exported, parked at the border. If Vitafoam closes down now, and thousands of jobs are lost what will be the gain of ordinary Nigerians?
