The most painful aspect of this totally useless closure are the border towns usually dependent on cross border activity for revenue. 2 Likes |

Swanzi: Ghana is not doing those shop owners any special favour. The government certainly benefits from those economic activities. On the other hand, opening our border to them is a favour. If we keep our border close, some companies in Ghana and their stock ps will experience a glut, leading to retrenchment and revenue loss to their government. Compared to the cross border trade, those shops are nothing. When push comes to shove, migrants will answer their names as migrants and leave, Ghana further compounding a bad situation for ghana for even property prices will feel the exodus. 1 Like |

SamOyovwi:what billions are you talking about that is better than better inter trade among African countries? The British and french are more interested in maintaining their areas of influence since 1845. The French are using red Cross to fund boko Haram. Boko Haram recruits who happen to be Muslims think they are fighting for Islamic state not knowing that the French and Americans are using them to destabilize Africa so that African governments will be too weak and hence too loyal to the demands of these wicked Western governments. I don't blame the west though. Since 1800s Africans have assisted the Europeans in exploiting Africa. The footsoldiers of boko Haram are Africans. 4 Likes |

SamOyovwi:why didn't Europeans close their border to each other? Europe considers their RACE before ANYTHING ELSE They we're using one currency so that the STRONGEST should CARRY the WEAKEST along. That's why the poor Greeks are enjoying strong monetary value as the Wealthy Germans. Nigeria must rally black Africa for good economy,we have the market,if we starve the beninoise and nigeriens and chadians.they simply can't survive. |

Swanzi: Border is already closed. Closed to both Nigerian and Ghana business community. Nigeria is Ghana highest customer within the West Africa belt. The largest chunk of the consumables manufactured in Ghana are sold here. From drinks to textiles. Things that are manufactured in Nigeria are largely consumed in Nigeria. Nigeria can absorb the economic distortion om the imbroglio better than Ghana because she has the resources: people and capital and the opportunities. For all the praise on Ghana, the economy is not and cannot match that of Lagos state alone. Beniin port is one of the budget in Africa because of Nigeria...All the imports from Benin for just a month, if distributed to their people who are qualified for them, will have surplus 2 Likes 2 Shares |

lexy2014:in the DNA of the African,he believed in the brotherhood of Africa. That's why you see togolese, ghanaians, and cameroonians in Nigeria, you will only realise they are not Nigerians when they or someone told you. Those who brought Islam and Christianity to Africa intended to use religion to divide us but the yoruba never allowed religion to divide them. The igbos also never allowed religion to divide them. The northern elites saw Islamic religion as a tool of social control so they adopted it. So I believe that Africa wants to be United. Just that we have puppets ruling over Africa. The mugabes and the muamah gadaffis that refused to bow have been broken. Mark my works, before next election, you will see party presidential candidates trooping to London and Washington. |

femolii:80 million dollars is nothing to Ghana oo we export more than 80 million dollars worth of goods to Liberia than worthless Nigeria your market is just not attractive to us. We are talking because we have to enforce the ECOWAS rules on free movement of goods else you will bully small countries like Benin and Togo They've found out that making a free port work will work in their favour. Ghana has managed to survive without closing it borders learn |

Just30: What is the size of your economy that 80 million dollars is nothing to it? Lagos, just a state in Nigeria has an economy that is more than twice bigger than that of ghana and that money is a lot to her. Do, you know that just the incoming refinery in Lagos is more than a quarter of your ghana economy not even adding the new city on the ocean 1 Like |
