deedee44: I have nothing against it .. If you going to offer offline trips , know how to be discreet about it .. And if your car is clean, shape and you present yourself in a very proffossional manner .. It is the client that will even ask you if you can do offline trip for them in the future ... 7 Likes |

I think Ornicus has made brilliant arguments here; Drivers might feel shortchanged on the platforms, I agree with ornicus that instead of cutting corners, drivers should forward their complaints through official channel and press for reviews, after all, drivers are partners. Uber/taxify might not bring positive and favourable reforms on the platform if drivers keep cutting corners rather than letting their parent partners know their challenges and adjust accordingly. 3 Likes |

I don't blame the drivers or the riders. I blame the ehailing companies. Some few months ago, I drove on uber, picked a rider from general hospital igando to super bus stop. The fair was 1350. Few days after, I rode on gokada bike from d same igando to the same super bus stop, the fair was 1250. So the difference between a four legged air conditioned car to a two legged sun-beating bike is 100naira. If the pricing was right, no driver will cheat d system. Simple As for me and my household, I won't go to any outskirt of Lagos on the platform. Offline or I move on, that's how stars do 18 Likes |

nitigriti:Let's just understand one thing. The Uber rule that requires drivers not to ask or reject trips is worldwide, developed countries where things actually work, not naija. If you have ever driven your car across Babs Animashaun, Community Road, off Ago Palace Way, entered a deep pool of water, end up spending hundreds of thousands to fix it, you will understand why you should ask. A request once came my way of a man going to Epe on Uber. So, should I accept it because I want to be a nice guy and drive back empty? Uber does not care about what happens to you or your car, truth be told. So, why do I have to be a slave to the system? I turn down request to places that I deem as dangeous in terms of bad roads and otherwise. I will continue to do so. Accept such trips at your peril. This is Nigeria, not America. What applies there cannot apply here. That professional balderdash cannot and will never apply here with the road, security and economic situation. 19 Likes 1 Share |

ndubuis: Drivers on Uber and Bolt are free to reject or cancel trips they don't like. It is the reason it is possible to do both — reject or cancel — on both apps. However, Uber and Bolt understand that not all trips will be a bad proposition to a particular driver; that's why they peg cancelation rates before penalty at a maximum, say 25%. Once any driver's cancellation rate goes above this threshold in a given week, the account is suspended. A driver somewhere is looking for that same trip to Epe on Uber that you rejected. One man's poison is another man's meat. 5 Likes 1 Share |

ornicus: Though I get your point , and I understand what you are pointing at.... I always thought there should be some sort of price option on Uber / bolt... that could engage the driver/ rider on renegotiation or some sort... and some other benefits aside bonus. But that aside, coming to this forum, and assuming by the few numbers that u talk to here... that Nigerians are unemployable is rather irrational 5 Likes |

nitigriti:Only a mumu driver is looking for a ride to epe unless he stays there or was going there. I am from epe and I can tell u even if you stay there for 3 days, u wont get a trip back... The ornicos man's anger wasn't for the offline offer made by the driver but for the rejection, prolly many drivers cancelled on him because of his destination... Some people stay in government-forsaken areas...looking for a car they will destroy with their terrible roads... Even in the USA, drivers reject trips they dont fancy... If uber could drive his own car, am sure he would blacklist some of this terrible places from using his platform... the morals is....if you stay in government-forsaken areas with terrible roads, enter okada or marwa....and drivers stop negotiating offlines, pity your lives and your cars...simply cancel those terrible areas... worst is ....those areas have bad riders....lol... Any of my drivers that take my cars there ehn...lol..make I sha no know...lol... 11 Likes |

nitigriti: Being fraudulent is simply cutting uber out of the game, and according to your initial submission, no justifiable reason, how has the game changed for riders and not for drivers? Christmas season is here again, we'll see riders using their platform to request trips to the east and other SW states. Our OP cannot simply understand the issues because he has not worn the shoes. For you, I guess it was a side hustle with your own car and you could afford to stick to whatever personal principles you choose. Aside Nigeria, hasn't these ehail companies been having running battles worldwide? As long as they keep paying fat salaries and bonuses to their executives without addressing their drivers concerns, these loopholes will continue to be exploited. AFTER all the so called appropriate way to channel these issues to Uber, what have the town hall meetings of last year with Bolt produced. These ehail companies keep proper track of where trips originate from and where it's almost impossible, why can't they factor return trips from places like Mowe, Agbara etc. They know these things and as long as they don't address it, drivers and Riders would continue to negotiate offline trips. 7 Likes |

Dbossmanager:lol well said. You go just wake up one morning, carry your car enter inside bush or one dead end because you dey do Uber and trying to be professional. I don't mince words on that, I tell those riders "cancel and take a bus" One thing I never do is to even insinuate off line with anyone. Got a request two weeks ago, rider was going to Festac from Lekki. She was already in my car when I asked where she was going. I told her politely that the God of Issac, Jacob and Abraham will not allow me to go there. She said cool, drop me at Surulere, which I did and moved on. 6 Likes |

Chuwaa: You can't cut Uber or Bolt out of a deal it doesn't have in the first place. Let's say you request an Uber to Enugu. You, I and Uber know Lagos to Enugu trip is not possible on the app. This is an opportunity the platform is bringing for the driver. Rider knows he or she can link up with a driver through the platform. Rider wants to go to Enugu. The platform cannot deliver that service. Rider and driver negotiate a fee. Uber and Bolt tells rider and driver that the trip is at each party's risk despite the platform bringing both parties together. There is nothing fraudulent there. 1 Like |

izzou: What makes rejecting Uber or Bolt trips unprofessional is because it is stated in the Ts and Cs before every driver signs up. Uber or Bolt OWN their platforms. They will decide what behaviors are professional or not ON THEIR platforms. If any driver likes it, fine, he or she can stay on THEIR platforms. If any feels otherwise, well, he or she can leave THEIR platforms. Radautoworks OWNS HER platform. ONLY SHE will decide what's professional or not on HER platform. If any car owner doesn't like it, the car owner is free to go someplace else. 4 Likes |

nitigriti:and why doesn't the system give to the Epe drivers such trips, and if you want to go to Agbara give to the Agbara drivers, if there are also the sango otta drivers , give to them too. Why must it give trips to drivers who will eventually cancel. 1 Like |
