God bless you OP for the inspirational post when some people feel like ending their dream of relocating permanently to a sane country.

To everyone out there who want to travel out of Nigeria but still thinking whether to travel or not, you are on a long thing grin

Yea, it's me Basalt and I always don't wanna paint words. I am a graduate of Geology from UNN (with over 4point GP).
I received much discouraging advice especially from my relatives in America and even my friends telling me that since I have a high GP and still young I should continue applying for jobs in Nigeria because Abroad is no longer what it used to be. I was listening to their lies and applying to non existing jobs for complete 2YRS.
Out of all those applications, I was able to secure only private school jobs which paid less than 30,000 with lots of stress on my life. After 2years of frustration and earning like a rat, I came back to my senses.

I sold everything I had, borrowed money from my elder sister's husband (God bless them for me) and entered Germany last month on student visa because to me, all die na die (even if I perish in Germany I will perish happily than continue crying in silence in Nigeria)

On getting here mehn, the first thing I regreted was not leaving Nigeria earlier. I blamed myself for listening to their lies and discouragement all these while thats why I deem it important to open this thread and pray Moderator pushes it to the front page because I know there are many people receiving such discouragement as we speak.
within three weeks of comming here, I have a part-time job that pays me 13.5 euros per hour (I work for 80hrs per month) in addition to that, I have one mini job that pays me 445 euros per month.

My accommodation is 350 Euros per month and my living expenses are about 150 Euros a month or highest 200 if I spend heavily.
In addition to that, I have access to a world-class education for almost free and stand a better chance of getting a professional job after my masters and you know what that means?
Now do the Maths and tell me how it is not better than less than 30,000 Naira which I was earning in Nigeria before leaving?

Some people will say I am lucky but honestly, I am yet to see any student in Germany die of hunger here unless he is lazy.
I repeat, NEVER you listen to anyone telling you to remain in Nigeria UNLESS you are earning fat salary in Nigeria, even the so-called politicians send their children here.
.

My alma mater,am gonna follow your foot steps

Eye opener.

The truth is most countries are better than Naija economic wise.

Those who advice others against migrating are either wicked or don't know the exact situation in the country.

If you live in Nigeria and earn less than 150k monthly especially in Lagos , you are just wasting your time move out before it is too late

There are lots of things/ courses that you can study and still make it in Germany, have you considered health related courses or better still IT related.

However, go to the Germany students thread to ask your questions...you'll get better answers there.

God bless you

150K? Hahahahaha

How many companies in Lagos pay that much? Average salary in Lagos is like 30K to 50K for good jobs. I have the data.

Are you sure you stay and work in Lagos. Those who earn between 30-50k in Lagos are underemployed. That is the fact. The T-fare in Lagos will gulp all the money.

You cannot live a decent life in Lagos with 50k salary. That is the truth. To live comfortable at least you need to earn nothing less than 150k. Many earn that in Lagos but it always look like they do not earn up to that because high cost of living

We are saying the same thing. But I can tell you that majority of salary earners in Lagos do not even earn up to N150,000. A survey was done recently by a consulting firm and they came up with the findings. So the salary band I put there is not speculation.

I agree with you. That means many are suffering in Lagos. A friend of mine who used to work on the isalnd and stay in the main land earned 90k monthly.

He said he had to resign to accept 30k monthly job close to his house 'cos about 45k went for T-fare and it appeared he was just suffering.

I went for one interview too in one of the biggest hotel in Lagos, they wanted to offer 50k monthly as starting even when almost 30k will have gone down for T-fare plus the stress.

Many are really suffering in Lagos. People just go to work to keep existing, not to keep living.

Apart from mails I don't think there's another way do you mean submitted application for visa appointment date? Cos i don't understand if it is, ask her to exercise patience. New dates have not been released for sometime now. Patience patience is key...

That's not true only the confused and stingy ones.
Also, those willing to travel should be able to read, gather information Independently from all source and not asking someone far from home, How much is Nigerian Passport

Questions should be constructive and shows you did some research.
If i see your question already answered on the German Visa section on NL, I'll ignore it.

But, what is Germany visa processing time? Worst come to worst, how long can it take before they return an applicants passport? Or Visa decision?
