Let's be honest and stop letting Nollywood deceive us. A rich guy wants a rich girl and a rich girl wants a rich guy. This is how it has always been, this judgmental thing needs to stop already.

A beautiful girl made a post on how she saw a guy here, she thought he was the perfect one till she found out he doesn't have money and had to move on. It's obvious she is doing well for herself but needs a man who is also financially stable and some people (mostly guys) came to the post to advise her to build with him.

Do you think she has not tried building with guys in the past and they took advantage?

Is being in a relationship/getting married a do or die issue that she has to accept anyone?

She works hard for her money, I don't think she is asking for too much having the same kind of man by her side. She deserves to have a choice!!

Right now I'm working hard to make my money and I had to put marriage aside till I'm financially stable, then one day I decide to be in a relationship that may lead to marriage and one guy will come to me and use the "build with me " slogan. What were you doing while I was slaving my ass to make money? I will use my money and do love with you? Turn mini sugar mummy to you? What happened to spoiling me silly and I do the same? Oh please!! Go take several seats. Fine boy without money leads you no where.

So have you considered if this guy is a gold digger? Or is that term only used on women? Everyone wants the best in life, everyone has a class and status where they want to belong/remain in. Let's respect other's choices and stick to where we belong.

Even if i have only N1 in my account, i will not not marry a poor man. I am a progressive not a regressive human. I want an asset not a liability. No woman should explain her choice to any man.

Have you ever seen a man saying he wants to build a woman so she can become a wife material for him? I rest my case.

How does one build a woman to become 'wife-material?

These men putting girls through school, opening businesses for them, sending them money for their upkeep and everything in between, are these men building women or what

Which one is building to wife-material?

This post is all shades of wrong, there are stories of rich girls and a not well to do guy getting and staying happily married, everyone knows what they want, some prefer love, deep true love, than money, only the less privileged are money hungry, everyone human have their preferences.

I get your point though, growing up society feeds us the ideology that we should settle down with those who share the same status as us, especially interms of finances. That whole 'class' stuff.
But like i stated initially, we aint all the same. There are exceptions to what you wrote. Certain people prefer love to other anything. wink

As for me, i like a guy who dreams big. Even if he's poor now, the fact that he strives for a better future.........

I mean women just groom themselves to be marriageable enough without asking for help or complaining. From the Original post, she is implying that men these days want women to ''co-groom'' them into becoming providers and she is not having it.

90% of Nigerians are poor or average and they will marry each other...the 10% rich marry each other and keep the wealth within their families

even in america and china with thousands of millionaires, i have never heard of a man or woman from a rich home marrying from a poor family except in their movies.

keeping the riches in the family is very important than trying to save some poor man or girl family from poverty.

lol

but how will a woman co groom a man when she herself does not have something tangible doing?

the reality is there arent many rich men in Nigeria to go round for the millions of marriageable women looking for rich men

the rich and poor women are fighting for the few rich men, at the end of the day, the poor women lose and will have to marry the poor and average men that are everywhere.

All a woman needs is her femininity, looks and nurturing skills and she can hook a well to do man.

No one is saying a woman must marry a millionaire, but every woman must ensure her partner has a job or business that is able to sustain him, her and the kids. Financial sustainability is the key. If the man cannot secure basic requirements, he should be left in the dust.

However, i understand that there are some women that have been brainwashed to struggle with a man. They always learn the hard way or when time has ran out for them. Or how can a woman benefit from a man who has nothing to offer but wants the world from her? So many old and tired looking women out there. It could never be me or the ones i love.

Interesting, in what way do women groom themselves to be marriageable? If it's by having good manners and learning how to do chores, those are basic life skills that everybody should have. I don't have a problem with ladies wanting to marry a rich man or whatever, because females (human and animal) are biologically programmed to succumb to domination, while males want to dominate. What I have a problem with is making an issue out of it and talking about men that don't fit into your specs derogatively. How many times d'you see men making noise about shapeless women or ugly girls. Nobody owes anybody anything, guys if you like shapely ladies, go for them, ladies if you like rich guys, go for them, if anybody you don't like tries to befriend you, politely turn them down. I don't know why you people struggle with this concept of live and let live, you think all guys on Earth owe you a duty to be rich so you can live a luxurious life off their sweat? Or that all females must be voluptuous for your viewing delight. Go for who you fancy, and if that doesn't work, go for someone on your level

the highlighted is where everything went wrong, there are millions of women in that category that are single and still waiting for their well to do man, the dating world does not work like that. many of them will at the end of the day, marry any man and live a quiet life.

reality check- you can check the history of many couples here in Nigeria, most female started with a struggling man in their one room apartment until they arrived at the destination they want, infact the most successful couples are those that both the man and the woman are both working to provide for the home, now aday financial sustainability does not rely on the man alone, with the economic situation both couples must work to get the things they want.

When an asset marries a liability, it's a matter of time before it becomes a deficit too.

I'm confused, how do you 'groom' someone to provide for you? And on top of that you are complaining and rejecting that, on top... Hmmm, lil sis, you really need to reevaluate your stance on 'relationships.'
The only thing that keeps a *healthy* relationship is character, I'm probably at least 10 years older than you and I have seen more of life than you and I can whole hearted tell you that you're broke best friend is way better than you're 'successful' worst enemy.
If you groom a good man, you will reap your investment with interest. The successful man will give you his change because he knows you are not 'his' best friend.

Also, op is a troll, don't take life advice from it... It could be a bloke behind the handle. I mean no offence, smiley

You'd think these chicks haven't seen insta models on the market grin grin grin

I want to see the day a 'healthy' man who is exposed to the world and its dealings, will leave all the women in their circles, to marry an uneducated, money hungry, entitled woman who is still tripping over restaurant food and hotel rooms, and he'll think to himself, yeah... There's my Queen grin grin grin

Your desire is yours and yours alone, but bear in mind that having a wrong mindset is risky.

. You have seen nothing. You want to marry rich man? Have you considered your joy, happiness, peace of mind, respect and value, treatment, don't you know that there are things money can't buy?, you are scared of hunger, lack and want, the rich that divorce what is the course, is it money? If you are rich and your man is poor build with him but be sure he is not a gold digger.
