None is faster than Jonathan biabany

Is that inference from your self birthed opinion or established fact

Because the discussion centred on you saying that the fastest players are mediocre and not good. IMO a nonsensical proposition without any substance.

My proposition is that the larger majority of the fastest players are actually the BEST PLAYERS in the world today.

I did not add Adama Traore of Wolves because his end product for me is not up to the expected standard. Otherwise he currently the fastest player in the World.

As a bench mark we could use Fifa 19 which is not completely conclusive but indicative enough to underpin and substantiate my position.

Not surprisingly you got a few likes based on what emotive sentiment based preference not substantive fact. Which is the prevalent approach here.

oga that Averageee remark is fun to me.. so don't get irritated about that.. na just tribute to Afobear lol.

I'm speaking from a tournament standpoint.. In terms of what individual players will become, it can go either way. Some players that we write off may turn out to develop well and be the best in future.. I'm not castigating anyone who have been able to notice some talents here and there, but let's not forget why we came here. I will assess the team as a TEAM.

Modified
I don't think coaching was the problem in this team. I've followed how this team was formed and their preparation. I think it was administrative lapses and interference from several quarters. We know what Manu Garba can do.

Agreed without reservation.

But with an addition of too much emphasis is given to youth football here. Youth football particularly U17 is at best indicative nit conclusive of quality. There is a very very long way to go.

But we get seemingly over excited about it here.

100% correct.

I would add that a lot of our players come with huge handicaps.

That's why we seem to have dominated youth football historically and presently particularly at U17 level.

However, for all that dominance we have not produced a commensurate number of top class players reflective of our dominance at youth level.

Let's borrow a leaf from Netherlands. if the team has only one abroad born player it should be because that's the best team possible. if the best we can have is dominated by 90% abroad born players then so be it. We should always be about presenting our best. Sentiments kill progress. We should be blind to where a player is born etc. We are in a globalized world, there is no such thing as a true Nigerian, or being more NIgerian than someone else. Only people who feel threatened think like that. just like so many white supremacist in America who are threatened feel immigrants will overpower them eventually. These things are not different.

GBOSA Too correct

Yes, because the system is not for African players.

We do not have the means to groom our players, Europe does. Our player have to work thrice as hard to get the same opportunities the Europeans get

Working thrice as hard means they have to WIN the European talents. It means they have to climb to the top to be noticed, while the Europeans can afford to linger at the bottom and still get good deals.

We are not the same, we don't have the same odds as they do, so, yes, these boys that cannot win will now have to work four times as hard to even get deals with half decent teams in Europe.

Our boys are neither European nor South American, let us be realistic and stop pretending that we have the same standards as those guys, and our players can be as lackadaisical.

true European and South American youngsters have access to world class facilities and coaching that will improve them massively overtime not forgetting nutritionists and psychologists

whereas our nigerian boys who are not lucky to move overseas immediately stagnate.

however success at youth level doesn't always gaurantee success at senior level. the french team that won the 2001 u-17s did any of them become great players? spain that came second in 2007 only goalkeeper de gea really made it big. so saying because you do well at youth competition level should automatically translate to senior level is not always straight forward

I do not mind changing all our national teams to foreigners. Give a local coach and it is only a matter of time before bribes become the order of the day.
this your suggestion is throwing the bath water away with the baby, as it stands now if the NT decides to go local we don't have any coach we can turn to unlike in the past when we had Siasia, Keshi and Amodu we need to start involving new faces in the setup of our national teams. I hear Finidi and Olofinjana are coaching youth teams in Europe maybe we should give them a chance

I doubt if there was anyone here who didn't criticize the team but even at that some of us chosed to stay positive. I Know you have been waiting for a day like this that you come here and start shouting "I said it, I said it". Does this make you feel better now since after the Super Eagles broke your heart? grin

Even despite the early exit of the team i chose to stay positive concerning the progress of some of those players.

Nothing we never see for this game.

Lol...the fear of poverty is psychological sickness that needs total mind renewal for it to be flushed...this is the paramount reason why many Africans loot...when the opportunity arises.
don't understand why a MD or Permanent Sec. in a federal establishment with just 3-4 kids residing in abroad even have foreign passports...will still wanna steal to save for their kids children children yet unborn....

and to now think of the politicians someone like Yahaya Bello of Kogi State is sickening.....

you see many who loot are not just hungry but they're folks with no moral values and to them stealing has become nothing but a means of where God open doors....

Tlaba is right...give our local coaches the national team job and watch bribe and questionable call ups become the order of the day.....

it is so sickening that Nigeria coaches are not ambitious at all... even Yusuf that was tipped as heir apparent to replace Rohr when he leaves...still went ahead to take bribe for players he would have otherwise include in the starting line up....

don't know what is wrong with our coaches at all....
right now I am scared of the Olympic team because only knows what Imama and crew have planned to serve us......

The coaches are to blame, they turned the whole thing to a jamboree. Manu Garba could not find a left back in the whole of Nigeria. Etim who played LB is a center back. Even the RB is a center back.

Corruption kills.

Etim was a revelation in that match. He offered width in attack with his pace and was never burned throughout the match.

The problem with the team is simple. We didn't come with that big fast striker. Look at the past teams, 2013 had Isaac Success and Osimhen and 2015 had Osimhen. If Ibrahim Sai'd had any of these strikers they would have scored no less than 10 goals by now. This side creates the chances but didn't have a point man to finish.

I think that we might have been particularly looking for smaller statured players with the hope that they would pass the MRI because I can't for the life of me understand why we have such a small team.

You can disappear even when you win also. The results means nothing because if they don't have an upward development trajectory mixed with hard work they will probably disappea
