Check your lifestyle. I went broke because of my lifestyle at a time and ever since then I vowed never to be broke again. How did I do it; 1. I stopped doing relationships, 2. I buy only what I need and not what I want 3. I vowed not to change my lifestyle to my taste even if I earn more. 4. I figure out where my money is going before I release it. 5. I vowed never to spend my raw cash again on necessary things but profit from investment. 6. I don't give out my money for no reason aside charity 7. I don't borrow people money, I ain't no bank. 8. I drank less( alcohol and beverages) only water please or free drinks. 9. I lived below my means( I decide to stay in mushin when I can afford to live in surulere, though I have moved now. 10. I kept less friends. 11. I became an introvert( very difficult but I just had to). 12 I became very stingy. ( Very rich men are very stingy). Do just 3 of these twelve things and you will be surprised how much you will be able to save in a year.

Apt!!!

#130000 a month salary, #48000 a year One room boys quarter apartment . I had to make sure I made 1200000 that year from my salary alone and I was glad I achieved it. Still living that selectively extravagant lifestyle till date. Making millions yearly and living moderately.

So you basically survived on #312,000 that year?

#26,000 per month?

How can a working class man has room mate? If he wants to fvck nko?

You people are more concerned about xx.x??
grin grin

Mind you Oga, a 50k job isn't seriously a dream job and i will expect anyone with such job to be more concerned about cutting off unnecessary expenses.
If x.xx is that important, then the roomie could excuse him.

Any apartments that cost more than double of Your monthly income is gbese.

True but haven't you heard of people who were trying to cut cost by renting a below par apartment in an environment they never had peace of mind?
My brother, if you can get a 200k apartment that is close to your workplace, that wouldn't threaten your peace of mind, please go for it.
We Nigerians over calculate things and we end putting our lives in danger.
A friend of mine earns 53k but because he was trying to cut cost, he got a self contain apartment at Egbeda for 140k, his cost of transportation alone and the rigor of waking up at 4am to beat the traffic ,leave Victoria island by 5pm only to get home at 9pm made the job a living hell, nobody told him to get an accomodation at Ikeja a year later for 200k.

I don't work for anyone, this year i learnt some skills and earn more than $2k/$4k monthly on my online business, so getting a good fully furnished apartment isn't a biggie to me.

Go and hustle instead of being a slave for a moderfvcker.
Boss, please can you recommend some high paying skills to acquire? Thanks

for a man, some of the challenges that comes with living alone are.
1. You get to pay your light bills, water bill health bill and security expenses yourself. Unlike when you lived with your parent and it was all free
2. If you are not married, you may end up feeding your unemployed friends who show up at to your crib to play Playstation.
3. If you are an eligible Bachelor, female folks will trove around you. (very few men knows how to handle this situation)
3. It becomes very hard to pick and hold just a single female. And it's always hard to know the genuine one.
4. The urge to start building your own house arises in the 9th month into your rent. Since your landlord had hinted you on increments in rent grin
I'm currently going through no 3.

If Your One month income Cannot pay your 1year rent, Don't take it.
What kind of stvpid talk is this one? How can you be this stingy to yourself?
You didn't even say 3 months income, na 1 month.
What of those earning 18k monthly? So they should start sleeping in a goat pen in the name of saving?

Back then I was earning about 80k from my regular job and about $250 from my side hustle.

The rent was 400k per year since its a serviced apartment. They take care of everything for you.

Was I able to pay the rent the next time it expired?

Yes... I knew my hustle would bloom... So it wasn't much of an issue...

The difference between my rent and my earnings now is several thousands of dollars... And I don't work full time again.

So you can calculate yours and make sure that your rent doesn't take more than 30% of your annual rent.

what is your side hustle make I join game with you?

I earn 45k and my rent is 250k (almost 6 times of my monthly income). Legit hustler ooooo.

is that your only pay per month?
how much do you have around every month after bills and rent?

My first rent in Lagos was #100K/pa some years back. I was fully unemployed live only on street hustle (car sales). Different story now, working in a multinational organization now pays #800k for a better crib. That’s my one month salary plus my car sale hustle...Hard work pays.....

From reading several comments.. one good factor to note is that "it gets better with time" once you take the first step.

Personally, I will advice from that salary, take just a one room or self con not more than 100k per annum. First payment will be higher than that cos of other fees. It will get better with time.

I got my first apartment for 48/annum from a 60k salary.

Where is the location? the serviced apartment I rented for a month in Lekki cost me 500k, and I just rented there for a month before I got another apartment but it isn't a serviced apartment, I did all the furnishing with my money.
Did you get a refund of your money and how much was refunded?
