Hi all.
Please, does anyone know anything about Canadian College in Vancouver?

Their fees are quite expensive and the cost of living in Vancouver is very high and for this reason should budget approximately 15KCAD per annum for living expenses.

Hi guys,

I'm planning to apply for MASc Biomedical Engineering in one of Canadian universities. However, I graduated with 3.64/5.00 overall, my final 2 last year was 4.38/5.00. Do I have any chance at their top research universities? embarassed

Sorry for the mouthodor cry

Please, go ahead and apply to your shortlisted schools. Since you interested in research, endeavour to secure a potential supervisor to improve your chances for funding and admission.

N.B: Most top Canadian universities have very limited seats for international studies. Its advisable to also shuffle your choice/search with 'some' other universities offering your course/program interest and whose faculty members research areas outlines with yours.

Good luck!

Hello House, love how supportive people are here. Please I have a question, I am in the early stages of this journey.
I'm a Physics grad, working in IT for 2yrs. I'd like to get an IT related course, maybe PGD or Advanced diploma and hopefully, this works for me because course load would be easier and all, job prospects, etc.

But, I just saw an M.Sc Physics/Astronomy program in UofM, 2yrs, $12kcad first year and ~$1k cad second year. Seems really cheap based on what I've seen in my research. Of course I have little interest in physics but considering the price, city, fact that it's M.Sc and visa chances are slightly elevated, should I consider this option and slug it out (I really don't want two more years of physics).

Of course I'm optimistic that they'll even give me admission, mainly what I'm asking is
1. Will my choice of course greatly affect my job prospects? Should I be worried about this? (People don't seem to talk about this much)
2. Can I combine a demanding course with Part-time work?
Thank you all

Thanks to you.Your undivided attention to this thread can not be over emphasis .I have made my conclusion,It is all decided by chance and fate.I have come across the list of document that I doubted his application but still got his study permit visa and I have seen an application that I agreed with his documents and no gap year according to this thread been refused. The embassy are just been paranoid about most application from Africa and developing countries around.

Frankrobbn1:

I regret to hear your cousin's application was rejected. However I would demand you share a detailed breakdown of the list of documents that were submitted with her previous refused application. What's her intended program, her current job role and previous undegraduate studies. This will help us pinpoint some of the mistakes made in her application.

It shall end in praises.

I’m interested in doing a full time project management course. I’ve done a couple of 1 month certificate courses but it doesn’t really cut it for me. I’ve tried to go through the threads as much as possible but I haven’t seen anything related to project management at all.
If anyone knows of any college I can apply to, that’ll be great.
I’m new here but I’d be grateful for any help I can get.
Thank you.

She's very young and are chances of getting a study visa is great. I think you didn't do justice in her SOP, --- Why she is going for undegraduate studies in Canada as well as home ties that would compel her return home after studies. In her case, you don't need to order for her gcms notes. Simply write a 2 pages letter that will tackle the reasons highlighted by the visa officer and reapply. This time, endavour to contact any of the knowledgeable gurus here to help vet the letter before you submit the application the second time.

It shall end in praises.

Please can you link me with any of the gurus, I need help for her

If you're going to come in through open work permit with her then you need to consider the following;
1. Living expenses
2. Study gap before applying
3. Length of program she's applying for
4. If you're supposed to sponsor her travel and claim your business will be used who is going to continue the business operation when you go with her?
5. Children

P.S: if you aren't sure then you can simply wait for her to go there and then apply for a visit visa. When you get there you can convert it to a OWP under the Spousal program for international student. You will only need to show proof of relationship and adequate finances.

If you're considering project management course which can be easily done I'm Nigeria then you have to be weary of refusal based on purpose of visit. It will take a lot to convince a VO on your reason for spending so Much on a program that is quit popular in Nigeria. Try and go for specialised programs.

Hello Guys,

I arrived Canada on the 1st of September. It has not been easy. If I knew what I know now I would have thought seriously about this school thing. God has been merciful to me. My advice to anyone coming to BC...don't count on the idea that you can work part time to pay your fees or survive here. I live in Vancouver Island and attend VIU. Most of my classmates are Indians and most of them are only interested in getting residence. They get visa easily and can take a loan from their local bank to deposit money for their fees. If you ever get into project groups with them you are on your own. You will do the work yourself because they really don't care about their grades.

If you are coming to VIU or anywhere in BC, please come with Nigerian food stuffs like dry pepper and palm oil. Its very expensive. Don't joke o. Carry indomie..it is a life saver. I came with Garri Ijebu and groundnut. I came with pepper soup spice (fish and meat is cheap). Come with umbrella, rain boot and rain coat...it rains like hell in Vancouver and Vancouver Island but its not as cold as the other parts of the freezer (Canada is freaking cold...no bi joke) I brought all the Igbo food stuffs I can carry and forgot income. Please carry coffee and milo. You will thank me for it.

I stayed at an airbnb for one week before I found a house. Its not cheap and also because I wanted my family to join me I needed to get a bigger house and used the rent agreement in the visa application for my family. I applied for their visa on the 23rd and they received approval last two weeks.

People on this island are seem nice (like British nice..they pretend). There are jobs during holidays like now..everyone is hiring part-time workers. People here will tell you that come January...it is dry. No Work!!!

My advice to anyone coming to BC or even Canada; go and learn something. Guys, if you can learn how to cut hair..you will be very comfortable. You won't need to do any silly part time work. Ladies if you can learn to weave hair and fix weavon...you will be ok..trust me...you will be a big shot!. Don't come here thinking you can just do part time work and pay your fees without getting into trouble. I am not saying you can't wing it but trust me even if you work 20 hours a week which is the maximum you can work as a student...you still can't do more than manage to pay your rent and barely survive. If you are on th MBA program then forget it. Canada is looking for talents and not C grade students. They now look at your transcript when you apply for post graduate work permit or apply for PR. Don't think you can wing it...you need time to study.

BC is the most beautiful; place I have ever been in my life...trust me I have travelled to 16 countries including 20 states in the US and most of Europe. BC is wild beauty and you wonder what tourism potentials we really have in Naija. When you come here you will fall in love with nature. They also don't have good food. There is nothing like Canadian food. It doesn't exist. Their food no sweet...simple and short (I am a foodie and chef so I authoritatively tell you). Nigerians here are the worst people I have ever met. When they get here they see you and ignore or avoid you. I understand why the ladies will do that...you no bi oyibo and you no fit give them paper. But for guys...thats silly. Some of them try to speak with oyibo accent. For God's sake I had this accent since I was a child so stop it...it doesn't fit you...lol

I wish everyone applying for visa good luck. If you are coming to Vancouver Island University please let me know if you need any information or help. I can point you towards things like accommodation etc.; ask God to let his Will be done. I am not sure I will have the time to help review applications because I have exams starting next week till second week in December. Afterwards I will have all the time in the world.

Cheers
