When they go home for Xmas they’ll rather travel to the village with a Lagos number than travel to the village with a plate number from eg Bornu or Ondo .

So if you drive an ekiti plate number in Lagos people will assume you are from ekiti state etc. So if you’re to sell you will struggle to sell with ekiti number as many people don’t like to change plate number.

for me, I think Abuja plate number is highly respected by our security agencies. Eg when I was still living wt my uncle whom os just an ordinary hustler in Abuja, but anytime his travelling with his vehicle to the east, see the way security agencies honour him like a senator of FRG.

The main reason is that police hardly disturbs. They have 80% assurance that your vehicular documentation is complete as there is no hiding place for you in Lagos

On the contrast, once you arrive the North with your Lagos plate number, police will always park you and see your papers.

In their minds, it is either you just bought the car in Lagos and moving it to the north or its a Lagos stolen car. Your papers better be complete.

If you really want to be invincible in most parts of the country, Abuja is the number.

Assuming the SMS is sent out, is #200 justified as SMS fee. It is sad commentary when a govt decides to cheat or fleece the populace charging exorbitantly for a service we all know is #4, or do they send up to 50 SMS messages to each vehicle owner.

What moral right does the same govt have to adjudicate and/or sanction any monopoly service provider that cheats the citizenry.

I would advise you get the plate number of the state where you will drive around in most of the time. Police at checkpoints tend to target vehicles with out-of-state plate number. So, a lot of your time is wasted at police checkpoints. But if you will be driving across the country a great deal, i think Abuja plate number is cool. If your movements will be mostly in a particular geographical zone, get the plate number of a state in that zone.
