Let's look at it this way. Say you earn 150k monthly in Nigeria and you pay say, 45k as tax monthly, with all the amenities such as you have in Germany, ẹ.g. you don't pay school fees until your children gets to university, free medicals, child care benefit for your children. For instance, I leave in Canada. I earn 3600 dollars per month and I'm being taxed like 750 dollars. Meanwhile, my two children gets ccb of 1300, paid to their mother every month. (Shay I never get my 750 back grin?)

I have worked in UAE (Dubai) please don’t be deceived that country is not for blacks they hate Nigerians with passion most job openings will indicate no Nigerians are allowed to apply to tell you how much they don’t need us Dubai have suspend the issuance of visa to Nigerians many times, I don’t have enough bundles I would have post a video where over ten thousand people came for a job where they need just 50 people as security at mail of emirate. Conclusion for those who think you can work in two places you lie in UAE u can only work in One place is illegal to in two places, the lie lie poster alleged they where paying his friend who was a laborer 2k Derah , the highest you receive as laborer is 1400k derah which around 120,000 Naira a month.

but for professionals!!!!. I work in a construction firm as an health and safety professional and I'm doing well. Those of us in the safety career have better chances than our competitors from other countries like India, Pakistan, etc cos we have the necessary certification and qualifications as per meeting the requirement to work as safety professionals in uae. Hse professional earn a minimum of 15000dirham (1.5m naira) per month if you have nebosh diploma. Inasmuch as your qualifications determine your paid as far as hse career is concern in uae, it also depends on your employers. some employers paid their safety professionals 22000 Dirham (2.2m naira) per month while other might paid as low as 5000 Dirham (500k) per month.

Might just join you over there. Professional builder here.

I graduated from a state uni in Nigeria in 2014, served 2015, searched for job from 2015-2017, yet non came except teaching job of 12k per month, I decided to borrow to travel to Dubai, I landed in Dubai on July 2017, got job after 3days of my arrival, I work at an ice factory with 1500aed which is 150k per month. My company did my 2yrs visa for free, gave me accommodation, electricity, water and medical. I only spend on feeding. They were with my passport, Jan this year was my 1yr 6mnths, they booked my vacation flight to Nigeria to and fro, plus 100k pocket money, I spent 2mnths in Nigeria. I returned march, I cancelled from my work place around June, I runned a course called Sira for 5days were I obtained my security and safety certificate and I got a security job that pays me 250k per month now. UAE favoured me abeg. Am greatful to God.

I have some questions for you sir.

1) How much did you leave Nigeria with (including visa and flight ticket)? You can give a rough estimate if you're not comfortable, you know.

2) Okay so you left Nigeria with which visa? I am not getting it right: did you apply for the job online and the employer did the processing for you or you left the shores of this country first? If it's the latter, it doesn't look like visas gets processed when passengers arrive at destination country, that would only apply to ECOWAS countries. I don't understand, honestly.

She even used tax as a bait to appeal to people that Dubai is great and comparable to UK, US etc. The take home income of a minimum wage earner after tax in the UK is about £1150 and that’s approximately 520k naira. And that’s for a 40hour a week and no overtime included. I’m certain it’s same in the US, Canada, Aussie and most first world countries. How many immigrants in Dubai earn up to 500k a month? How many natives earn as much on average? I’m using UK coz that’s where I live and can conveniently make comparisons. Dey here dey paint a useless country as something worthy to consider.

If not that Naija has become a joke I wonder how anyone will encourage even an enemy to move to UAE especially if they can afford to go to Europe or America.

Sir, pls how can you help me migrate to UK? How is the process and what and should I do to be able to qualify to get the UKvisa. I’m a graduate of food science and though I had third class, I just finished my PGD management studies from OAU ife. Pls Kindly enlighten me sir.

People just dont understand that its not easy anywhere. Currently, the US is d best place to hustle. So many side/odd jobs especially with the immigration restrictions. But in that same US, there are many Nigerians who can't afford a ticket home. Heck, some can't even send 20k for a family emergency in Naija.

In my school we're 80% Britain, Canada, America, Australia. The rest 20% are Arab, Africans, others. These 80% are coming from countries that you all are running to.

I earn more than a teacher on my grade level in the US. These ones use some considerable sum of their salary for taxes. Whereas mine is tax free.

But in this same Dubai, you find people with same qualifications as mine doing domestic help work of 150k.

At the end, its about sensitization. Don't just carry bag and say m going to Dubai. What are you coming here to do? Is that d best you can do? Are there better options? Ask questions and arm yourself with info.

That same India you condemned i have friends there who have hit it big. Meanwhile Indians are running into Dubai in droves.

And what's wrong in a shared accommodation? After I got my first pay, i rented a self con of 35k dirhams per annum. After 3 months i did a brain reset and got a shared apartment for 9000 aed per annum. Which means i now save extra 2.6million naira yearly.

That it didn't work for Yuh friends doesn't mean it wont work for others.

So you just take a chill pill and breath
Why is yours tax free?

And how were you able to afford a self con of 35k dirhams ?

Wait, are you sure Dubai is tax free? Like completely tax free? For Real? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

I just checked oh, It's true. JESUS!!! People are earning $5,000 dollars in US & paying like 30% for Tax.

In Germany Tax is 42% to 45%, that means if you earn 5,000 Euros monthly. You only take home around 2700 Euros.

I swear, this is crazy yo!!!!

Oga, tax is graduated. If they say you earn 1m and pay tax of 50%, it doesn't mean you pay 500k as tax.

In that 50% tax, first 5% is different, etc

You can live comfortably in the UAE with your family, the problem with us is we dont do research and we are always in a hurry to do everything in Nigeria. A 2 years freelance visa is 1.2 million if you get a company in the UAE to do it for you. But agents in naija will collect 1.4. Dont give any agent money for the freelance visa though, most will collect the money and wont deliver, they only know how to do 2 weeks visa, which cost about 40k and 3 months. Go online and contact companies. With the freelance visa you can get a job for 2500 3000 dirhams, thats 250,000 and 300,000 naira. You can get accommodation in Ajman or sharja for 1000 or 1500 dirham a month 500 will go for expenses and still have little to save up to renew your resident after 2 years. You don't have to live in Dubai or Abu Dhabi they're too expensive. When you're doing the resident visa, tell the company to use a higher salary to apply for the visa, for instance they can claim you earn 8000 to 10,000 dirham's, this will enable you to also apply for your wife and kid in a couple of months with just a token. With a freelance visa, no company will hold your passport if you're employed. And you can do side business quit anytime you want and move to another company if you get a better offer. I went to the UAE about 7 years ago to work, although I am back to Nigeria.
Why did you come back naa?

We actually don't appreciate what we have here in naija, until we find ourselves in strange land of mordern slavery.
modern slavery indeed!! Person nor go sch, he nor get certificate and yes he dey run come dubai or abroad wan go hustle. Wich kind yeye hustle he wan go do wey dey decent? If you want respect and to be treated well in a foreign country u gotta have to be better and have what they desire. Am the only black dude in my company and some of my colleagues might not like me but they have no choice but to respect and adhere to my recommendations as per my duties as an hse professional in site. I've 2 assistants working under me and they refers to me as "sir" despite the fact that they are older than me in age but I'm still their boss as per my position.

There is no such thing as modern slavery if you know your onus and have exactly what they are looking for. They might not like my black face but they need my skills, hence, they respect and treat me like a king.

Abeg we need to stop all this modern slavery yarning joor. Even for Naija people nor dey respect people wey dey do odd job like conductor, mechanic etc. So why we expect other countries to respect same occupation here?.

Monkey for Naija na monkey for abroad.. You can not be using the same failed method and expect to get a win, it is not possible.

The need for education, professional and technical skills should be our main focus to stumble into the wealth that most foreign countries gat to offer. The platform is there but we need the necessary skills to step on it. Finito!!!

I am working on Canada express entry and if it doesn't workout, I will go back. I am not going to Canada because its better than the UAE, but just to give my other kids Canadian passport. Thats the only problem I have with the UAE. There is no pathway to citizenship. My daughter was born there but they don't care she didn't get residence not to talk about passport. But she's attending a great school and can move to the UK for her High school so its a win win. Plan well never go to the UAE with a one month or 3 months visa in the hope of getting a job and changing to residence. If you do get a Job, your employer will apply and pay for your residence and seize your passport and you will start working like a slave for 2years. Meagre salary, 12 or more hours of work a day. You can only get by but never enough to achieve anything worthwhile.
