kellycute: Shorrop there you liar, many years ago.... I opened my current account at Emirates Bank also known as “ MeBank” the one close to Al Baniyyas Square in Deira. I was given a check book and the check book is still with me today just as a souvenir or reminder of my stay at the UAE. I was entitled to a check book and a debit card too and so many privileges and the ONLY prerequisite to have this account was my UAE residence visa on my passport and the work permit. I was not allowed to have a credit card because I was told the only way I can get a credit card is if I have proof of earning up to 10,000 Dirhams a month. This was my personal experience Fast forward to even last year a friend of mine who graduated from the American University in Dubai (AUD) at the Jumeirah area who lives permanently in Dubai doing business just took a cousin of his down there and he has a residence visa as just a student and he has a checking account with a check book so WHY ARE YOU BLOWING FABU on Nairaland ? Getting a CREDIT CARD there is a very big deal NOT checking account with the right to own a check book. Guy shift, you are a big liar Moreover most real estate leasing or renting of residential areas in low cost housing at places where even very poor Indians or Bangladeshi people live at Al Karama for instance take monthly payment either by check or online payment as long as they have copies of your UAE document with a verification “affidavits” from Dubai Police. This is a fact and what I know!!!!! You can deceive people who have never been to or lived in the UAE not ME, ok? 10 Likes |

ogbonti:you don misyarn finish?. How much was the so-called cousin and you earned as salary while working in Dubai?. You don't have sense at all cos you read post with the intention to argue. I mentioned that it is not everyone that have access to check book especially those that earn less amount as salary. So tell me how did I lie? 5 Likes 1 Share |

ogbonti:you've never lived in uae Mr man cos you don't even know the basic thing here. So you wanna tell me that everyone working in uae have access to check book? U wanna tell me that majority of the landlord accept cash by Hand? You don't know anything. 2 Likes 1 Share |
Re: My Experience Living And Working In The UAE by kellycute(m): 7:26am On Dec 11, 2019 |
ogbonti:did I mentioned anything like credit card? Maybe you are blind and u can not even comprehend a simple write up. Now, you are trying to shift the goalpost to suit your bias and emotive narrative. I said " it is not everyone working in uae that have access to cheque book cos of the limited amount of money they earn as salary" and also most Landlord don't accept cash by hand, they accept cheque". Who is talking about credit card or debit card?. You are trying so hard to paint a false picture of uae cos of your negative and emotive prejudices agaisnt uae and the people living here. You are not being objective but resort to negative rhetoric and spill arguement devoid of absolute substance. Take your emotive bias and get lost!! 1 Like |

kellycute: Shorrop there paddy, I was earning but when I opened that account I just got my residence visa and I have not even collected one dirham yet as salary. This cousin of my friend that just opened an account is a student who does not have a job. He is on student visa. He earns nothing. All he was told was to provide his residence visa and Other forms of ID. only a credit card they won’t ever give u Inless you earn a certain amount. Now U can’t open an account with check privilege if you are on visitor visa or business visa but once you have your residence permit u can write checks... go round Dubai, check al khaleej times classified for housing many agents of low cost housing take month to month with proper documentation. The house May not be top notch but it’s still ok So stop lying here that u make money from subletting bla bla bla The Dubai wey I know na him u Dey lecture me about so? Hmmmm na wa Linus I beg rest for matter 2 Likes |

kellycute: You are the one who does not comprehend anything. How can you work there in the UAE if you don’t have have a residence visa ? So that means if you work, you have a residence visa Mr Olodo, I hope you are with me up to this point Ok if you have a residence visa you can open an account that gives you access to writing checks Is this rocket science to you? I only mentioned credit card because that is the only banking privilege that has earning restrictions in Dubai NOT your ability to have checks. You having checks are not tied to your earnings. This is where I fault everything you are saying And a person who can pay you for one room where you claim to be “making money from them” can easily get a small place in a low cost area and pay for himself or herself so why must they patronize you because of your almighty ability to write checks? When they can write checks for themselves of smaller amounts in low cost areas because they are residents also? Those who can reason logically know you are liar and that is why U are so upset 5 Likes |

ogbonti:how much were you earning? U nor fit talk ehn. Why u dey lie like this? U want tell me say people wey dey earn 3000 Dirham downward get access to cheque? Lol. Bro, them nor ger access to cheque shey u hear, na why most of em nor fit get better apartment for better area like marina, jlt, etc. Na Landlord wey dey collect cash by hand dem fit run thing with and na for local area like deira, etc. U want tell me say bank nor request for your offer letter before they proceed with the whole stuff. U nor need to don dey earn before u go get the cheque book, your offer letter showing your salary is suffix enough for them to see if you meet up with the requirement to get a check book. 1 Like |

kellycute: Shorrop there .... everyone “working” in the UAE has a residence visa and everyone with a residence visa can open a checking account with the right to write checks. Except you are saying strictly that those you are benefiting from are the ones who have overstayed and do not have a residence visa at all. But by your own admission here - you do not help such people eg the runs girls because they can put you in trouble. So you are taking about making money from legal residents because you can write checks Guy, DO NOT COME HERE AND SAY SOMEONE IS WORKING LEGALLY THERE AND ON RESIDENCE VISA BUT CANNOT EARN ENOUGH SO HE CAN NOT HAVE A CHECK BOOK FROM HIS OR HER BANK Guy that is a BIG FAT LIE 1 Like |
Re: My Experience Living And Working In The UAE by kellycute(m): 7:47am On Dec 11, 2019 |
ogbonti:you are not getting the point. The point is too simple. Of course your residency visa is a prerequisite to qualify to open an account here but it is not a determinant factor to get the "cheque book". It is all base on how much you earn to qualify for the cheque book. You can have the atm card to withdraw and all that but u must earn certain amount of cash to get access to the cheque book which is use for payment of some value transaction like paying rent. I wonder why you find it so hard to understand. Your emotive bias is topnotch and have cloud your sense of reasoning. 4 Likes 2 Shares

ogbonti:now your argument is... Everyone can have access to cheque even if they earn meagre pay!! Hmmm. Let me pretend that I agree with your assertion. I pray thee, tell me why most of the low income earner don't have cheque book? I'm sure they too would love the idea of getting their own apartment and paid with their cheque. 1 Like 1 Share |

ogbonti:now you have resorted to negative rhetoric and name calling lol. You don't have any point to argue with no more so you resorting to insult hahha. Stick to the tenet of the argument which is " not everyone have access to cheque book cos of their low income". Since you don't agree, no need to drag this issue further. Dey your day, make I dey my day So the only thing you could decipher from that screenshort is "bounce cheque" hahha. I sent that screenshort to prove my assertion that "cheque is what they use to paid rent in uae" except you wanna live in poor area and dirty apartment. UAE nor favour you, nor mean say you go use your emotive bias drag the country down and the people doing well here. 4 Likes 1 Share |

ogbonti:my parents and siblings live in USA.. New Jersey to be precise. Soon enough ima join you guys there cos it is already in the pipeline. I do not have any negative or emotive prejudices agaisnt USA or any countries cos that's just the way it is but I love uae cos I'm working as an health and safety professional in a construction firm and I'm making cool money. I'm living the uae dream, so don't you dare try to compare me with your average Joes living like pauper in uae. I nor kee person, na work I dey work here dey earn money . Once I make the money finish, I go come buy house for USA haha that's the plan nigga. It is not the location that matter but what you have to offer to tap into the wealth inherent in such location. Nigga said I don't have a job ahahahahahahahh. Do you want me to post more pictures? . cos I can do that all day long all day long all day long. I've got alot of time on my hand cos I do not report to anyone. Am the head of safety department in this particular site. My daily activity goes like this.... I visit the site for inspection, write observation report and recommendation and forward it to site engineer and project manager for implementation. Waka with swag back to my office to chill while my assistants remain in site to ensure strict compliance to the hse standard and policy. Now I'm talking too much lol but the truth is...... U can live the uae dream if you know what you are doing. Don't let anyone try to discourage you from moving to the next stage of your life. Do proper research about the country you wanna go to and try as much as possible to position yourself for success. Your destination should determine your preparation. They ain't picking money anywhere in the world even the so-called USA, Canada and the rest western countries ain't rosy like y'all think. You can only live the dream if you are prepared for it, you can only live the dream if you position yourself to tap into the wealth inherent to the country. You gotta have to do research to know the latest Career making wave in such country and try to fix yourself up. My elder bro graduated from greenwich University in UK, but when he relocated to new jersey, nigga enrolled into nursing program cos according to research nurses earn cool cash in USA. That's the kinda strategically and purposeful arrangement we should imbibe in our mentality. I ain't saying everyone should go into nursing but rather they should program themselves in career that can easily give you a better chance to get to the top. My coming to uae was intentional. Uae is a developing country and there are lot of construction going on here at the moment. It is strategically and awesome idea as hse professionals to get your ass here and be part of what is going here. Uae is a goldmine for hse professionals As for that nigga advicing me to leave uae and come over to USA.. nor worry we dey come but we never pack money finish . Trust me when we come over, we still gonna hit the ground running in a grand style cos the preparation is already in the pipeline. CSP is the key to a better career as hse in USA.. US degree to an extent YOUR DESTINATION SHOULD DETERMINE YOUR PREPARATION. Finito!!!! 27 Likes 7 Shares |

There is really no need to be abusive and confrontational about facts and happenings in different countries, because they are based on our personal experiences. Someone opined that we should be careful what we post online, because some people will just read and believe thats the true situation in that particular country. Also, let me advise even some of us that are outside the country to be careful about passing across information we hear from our friends or other family members because some people wont really tell you what they are going through in their country of residence. Information is everything. Before you leave get all the information you can and possibly get some desired skills. Even after dont dull on seeking for information,It will save you from a lot of stress, mistakes and also help find your bearing on time. I followed this topic from page 1,I have read somewhere here where someone claimed his friend or something like that is making it working in India.I was in india in 2012 for an IT training for like 6 months,it wasnt even as bad as it is now.As at 2012 there were no jobs available to foreigners, any job has to go to an Indian first and how much is the salary. As at then,10k to 15k rupees which was like NGN30K to NGN45K.Thats huge though in India because some earn like 5k rupess or less depending. The money has more purchasing power than the naira though. The IT consultant who trained me then came back from Europe and he was placed on around 10k to 15k. The point is here is,someone might see that now and maybe already has someone telling him to come to India and he will jump at it to later go and work in an African restaurant. Those that wants to go on business to buy stuff and ship back to naija are good to go. 4 Likes 1 Share |
