Amujale:

The UAE is designed for the benefit of Arabs.

Africans live a better life on their continent than those living in the UAE.

There laws are draconian.

The UAE have some of the weirdest laws in the world today.

For instance anyone can correct me but i read that at one point, wearing a Barcelona shirt in Dubai or Abu Dhabi could land anyone 15 years in prison.

There was once a law in the UAE that prohibits anyone from wearing a Qatar football shirt in the UAE.

Overall, its best to stay clear away from UAE and all the other parts of the Arabian penisular.

Their records on human rights is atrocious.

How is it a lie?

You are idiotic for not cross checking and giving a disingenuous response.

Morning sir, and thanks for the vital information you just gave me. Sir I just need some clarification a lil bit; do you hse level 2&3 is compulsory and thereafter, I should go for nebosh IGC and nebosh Idip. Sir my question is , the nebosh igc and nebosh idip are they the same or what is the difference between the two ? Is it compulsory I have the two or one can compliment for the other? How much is the fee to take each course or better still how much will it cost to run each and how many years can it take me to finish hse 2,3 nebosh igip and nebosh idip? Last but not the least sir, I live in Osun state do you know of any center close by and how can I apply sir? Thank you immensely sir.
I suggested the idea of hse level 2 and 3 to you so that you can have the basic knowledge of health and safety. Nebosh igc and nebosh idip ain't the same. Nebosh igc is a level 3 qualification while nebosh idip is level 6 which is equivalent to a BSc degree from university. You can get a job using nebosh igc but if you wanna earn higher and occupy top position, you need the nebosh diploma.

Nebosh igc fee in uae is 3800 Dirham (380k naira) depending on the sch though while nebosh diploma is ranging from 9000 - 10k Dirham (900k to 1m naira) depending on the sch too.
I'll advice you to get hse level 2 and 3 from ispon Lagos, then enrol for Nebosh igc in Naija cos it should be cheaper in Naija. When you have nebosh igc, you can start applying for safety job. Nebosh dip will easily stand you out from the crowd. Yes, you need to get your nebosh igc before you can be allows to enrol for nebosh diploma. level 2 and 3 should take you roughly a month. Go to ispon office in Lagos. Check Google about it. Nebosh igc will take u 1 month for lecture, then you write the exam. It will take extra 2 months for the result to come out. As for Nebosh dip, it can take 1 to 2 years depending on your schedule. You can only write nebosh diploma exams twice in a year..... Jan and July,. Nebosh dip comprising of unit A, unit B, unit C and unit Dni (practical). You will have to write and pass all this units before they can issue you the nebosh diploma parchment but however, you will still get certificate for each units. Don't worry about the nebosh diploma for now, just focus on getting the nebosh igc. When you get a safety job, you can apply for Nebosh diploma.

she should come over to Dubai early next year cos they gonna be alot of opportunities for safety professionals. First off, she need to authenticate her BSc and waec at uae embassy in Abuja cos they need to stamp the photocopies of her credential with the uae stamp. Employers will need her authenticated credential when filing for residency visa for her here. Secondly, when she come over she will have to arrange her cv to uae format and start applying online or visit companies to drop her cv.
All the best bro!
Thanks bro but it's gonna be an unrealizable dream for us cos I intend to wife her before middle of next year and I have a good job in Naija (I gross about 12m annually here. Just that it'll make so much sense if she can even overshoot that). I can't leave my job to go with her as I'm more of a white cola jobber than a professional. Neither do I want to change career path. If I had worked for like ten years I wouldnt mind resign as I would be entitled to pension but I've barely worked for like four years now.

Don't sell land or properties to hustle in Dubai, you will be going from frying pan to fire. You better use your money to invest or business. If you must travel, think US, UK,
Europe, Canada, Australia. Only consider Arab country if your situation is close to hell. Good luck

About Americans traveling to Middle East for greener pasture. One thing you need to understand is that Americans especially are “worshipped” in the Middle East more than in America.

Who won’t leave their country and go to where they would be treated like kings. You can’t put yourself in the same shoes with Americans in UAE. Even with you having the same qualifications. Your Nigerian passport is a disadvantage to you in that regard. Many job openings in the UAE clearly indicate native English speakers or Americans are the qualifications for those jobs. Stop comparing yourself with Americans going to the Middle East. You don’t have the same white privilege.

I personally know an American that left her teaching job in a non profit organization school for children with special needs that paid her $25 per hour for another teaching job in the Middle East. So you want to tell me she moved to the Middle East because she was suffering in America like most Nigerians moving to the same Middle East. If you take the chats on that your Facebook group on face value alone, you will be mislead. Since you said they are Americans in the group.

Coming down to Dubai on a visit or resident visa is something that should be weighed carefully. Each has its upsides and downsides.

Some companies would not employ you on a resident visa while others go rush you, even within the same sector. For instance, the UAE MOE would not even consider you for employment unless you're on a 3 months visa or lower. Meanwhile other schools give priority to people on resident/spousal visa.
When you're on a visit visa, the moment you step into this place, you're under pressure to get a job, you have only 90 days so you'll be restless. And some employers will not touch you with a long pole like 70 days into that 3months. They want people who still have time on their visa. With a resident visa you don't have this problem. Problem is, this might cause you to become lazy and slow. You might just step out of your house one morning and decide not to job hunt cos the sun is too hot, afterall you have two years.

Medical care in Dubai is very expensive. If you have cause to enter into a hospital and leave with some drugs, you're looking at like 500aed. Imagine if you now have an emergency that requires surgery, then you're Looking at millions of naira. No matter how small a job you do here you have access to medical insurance, although sometimes you have to make some equity contribution on drugs. For most big organizations, you have quality medical insurance that can even cover treatment abroad. For most organizations tho, could even be all, if you're not under their visa, you can't access this insurance. That's one downside to working with a resident/spouse visa.

**resident visa comes with its own insurance but it ain't comprehensive**

When coming into Dubai, take care to calculate your expenses and have extra for miscellaneous and other contigencies. Find out how much accommodation, feeding, transportation would cost. Transportation is very important. If you're hoping to land a job fast, you cant rely on your bus card on which you're charged like 3aed per drop. You're even just coming into town so you're not familiar with bus no and routes and even if you keep asking questions, you'll still get confused. So you have to be ready to spend a lot on taxi, taxis are expensive. An hours ride could cost you 12k naira.

So lets say 3mmonths comes to an end and you ain't landed a job yet, what next? You returning home? Or you calling up your agent? The latter is gonna cost you.

So whatever you do have enough cash to last you at least 5months or have a strong support at home to always top you up. Otherwise if you're female, you'll start whoring around. If you're male, you're come on nairaland to talk about how Dubai is the worse thing that can happen to anybody. There's a third option tho, take up a 150naira job and be dissatisfied for the next two years probably, even working for a silly Bangali, who forgets to pay you at the end of the month.

Also, ensure your agent ain't your only contact in Dubai. Ordinarily, he should pick you up at the airport, help you settle down and then guide you. But don't be surprised when you land and call him, he tells you "thank God for journey mercies" and switches off his phone. What now?? ALWAYS have enough cash, cos in this desert, its everyman for himself

you don't have to leave Naija at all. Let her try to get a job as safety in naija. Tell her to visit any of the construction site in Nigeria and let them know what she can offer to safeguard the life of the site personnel working in site. The only issue is that Nigeria don't really take safety serious due to lack of enforcement except if she can get a job in any of the multinationals companies in Naija. She should try to visit their office and see if they have an opening for safety professionals.
